How can I refresh my form? I have a button that clears all data from a text file, and the text file is displayed in a secondary tab on my form. When the user views the second tab, they have the option to press the clear button, but I would like the form to refresh so they can see that the data has been cleared. How can I do this?
View 1 RepliesI use a text file to store the settings from my program.Now when i save the settings the text file gets created and everything works correctly. I can load the settings without any error.Now when i quit my program and star it up again clicking the load button will clear out any data in my text file. So the file still exist but it empty.It happens when my program runs this line of code.

That just tells o_read that it is a stream reader and which file to read.How does my file get cleared out by that?

I have a User registration form. On that form the user supply all his contact details and he can upload a image with the normal file upload control in ASP.net.
This is my problem. If anything goes wrong on the page then i give the User a error message saying what he left out or what went wrong. But the page refresh when that does happen. NOW the link to the image the user selected is gone. NOW when the user fix his error he thinks that he is uploading a picture but he never did because when the page re loaded it removed the link to his image inside the file upload control.
Note, the user don't have to upload a image, so there will be no error when the field is blank.

View 3 RepliesOur application is using VBSQL.OCX on Sql server 2000 to create temporary tables and load pipe delimited data from a text file with predefined format into the tables. It is failing intermittently doing this. 99% times it works perfectly. But on occasions it does fail with error. Once the process is rerun with the same input file it runs successfully.Basically the architecture is of Store/Head Office where there are around 200 remote stores sending set of data files to the Head Office. At HO our application sequentially processes each store which has all the set of files received, creates a corresponding table, loads the data from the file into the table and moves onto the next store.If it is for some reason not able to load the file for a store, it gives a failure message and continues with next store.Error which the OCX throws is "Attempt to convert data stopped by syntax error in source field"

I'm Writing a Problem that will allow users to move data from one Data file to the next, using a Text file. My problem is that i so far i 3 test users.
No matter what test user is logged on it seems to be Reading the first user info no matter which one is on.
How do i get it to Only Read the User Info and show it up on text file that is Currently logged on.

I'm currently making a button which when clicked opens a file dialogue box in which the user then selects the file they want, when the file is selected the file name should appear in a text box next to the button. (Much like when browsing for a file to attach to an email) I've created the dialogue box but can only set it to show the file name in a message box when selected.

But I keep getting error: InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.
Clicking on any day clears the selections. This bug is repoducable by simply opening a new WindowsForms project, dropping a MonthCalendar control onto its' surface. Click on the TitleBackground, click on a month, Jan thru Dec, and the bug will become self-evident. There may be another bug, if you click on either the Next or Previous month buttons, the selections will shift to the first week of the month. Finally, the Today key at the bottom of the calendar doesn't fully highlight. I am currently using Windows Vista, I will try to repo this on XP as soon as I can.
View 4 RepliesIts a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...

I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?

is there a way of making a random number generator, which would clear out 2 random boxes out of 3 even though there are 4?
lets say there are 4 answers one in each textbox. if textbox1 is correct, can i make random number to be between 2 -4 and clear randomly either textbox 2 and 3 or textbox 2 and 4 or textbox 3 and 4 and same for other text-boxes if they are correct?
i thought about making two random numbers picked randomly then use alot of if statements, but did not realize i am getting into something ridiculously long. I think there must be easier way than that.

I've got a VB .NET application that has an auto-updater that updates the exe and manifest files of the application when it finds a new version. For some reason when I update those 2 files, it also clears the user settings, even though Im not replacing the exe.config file.

Anyone know of a why to preserve the color table and formatting when changing the font? I know I could build the RTF manually, but I really want to avoid that if possible.
View 2 RepliesI have built a program in where I have to add and remove items from two listboxes. Listbox1 consists of a file which I have picked up on my C:/. Within this file, are different lines of items. At the end of the item line is a figure. I have a textbox in where when someone adds the an item from listbox1 to listbox2. On clicking the add button, it will add the total which was in the file. If I add more items, it will give me a running total of the items I have added to listbox2.
Now, I'm bamboozled in how to subtract the items from listbox2 with the remove button. So that when a user wants to remove an item that they currently placed in Listbox2. On pressing remove it will subtract the running total from the item which has been removed.. Here is my code in where I add products to the textbox. I have two other text boxes which I use to have these running totals. FYI, Textbox where value is outputted is Textbox5. Textbox6 is used to refresh the data and the other textbox is named 'Total'.
