I'm converting a user generated list box to an array and then generating a user defined number of random strings and placing it in a textbox.The code I have works fine as it will generate the number of random strings the user wants, except sometimes a line is blank at the top of the list but is counted as a string.

My application reuses the same data returned from the database throughout the application. For example, a list of airport codes retrieved from the dataabase could be used on 5 different forms. In VB6 I placed the information into a Public Array. I'm looking for the best way to load and make available without hitting the database 5 times. After researching I found arraylist might be the way to go. My problem...I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly and not sure how to make the call to get the data out of the list.

The main function receives data, uses additional functions to calculates the result and gives it back. But at one point, the function needs data from the SQL Server. I wrote a second UDF, made it visible and deployed it to the SQL Server. I see now two functions under > programmability > functions > scalar value functions:
1. The main function (IsCalcDay) and
2. The function with the data access (IsHoliday)
If I call directly the second function from VST in the debug mode, it works fine, bur if I call it via the main function, the code stops if the connection will be opened. The error is "Data access in this context is not permitted. The context is a function or method that is not marked with DataAccessKind.Read SystemDataAccessKind.Read or a callback to retrieve data from the FillRow method of a table-valued function or a UDT validation method." (translatet from German, probably slightly differnt in English)
VST (2010 prof) and the SQL Server (2008 R2) are running in my virtual W7 maschine.

Why can I open the connection if I call the function directly, but it fails if the function is called from another function?
I have created two user controls (lets say A and B) and calling then on default.aspx. Both user controls have button named as clear and its event method "btn_clear_click (sender,event)". Actually I like to do something like this: if I click clear button of user control A then it would also do the same tasks defined in user control B's bth_clear_click method. Means, is there any why to call button event of one user control in another user control.

I am creating a function and want to have IntelliSense pop down the list of valid options for a certain parameter in the same way that the MsgBox function behaves when you are typing your argument for which buttons you wish to include (such as MsgBoxStyle.OkCancel). View 5 RepliesI am trying to close my application and I have coded on the form closing, form closed events to call an exit form which asks the user for confirmation to exit or not. All works fine. When I press the X button on the winform things act different. On the main form where I press the X btn I store some user ID data that I use throughout the app. If I press cancel on the exit form that data is lost from the main form and cannot be used afterwards. So if the user pressed by mistake the X btn and then presses cancel on the exit form the application loses some stored data and many functions stop working.

The list is roughly 20 names, but it could grow to a hundred or more. Since the contact information changes periodically, I would like a very easy way to maintain it (Excel or Access).
