Feb 2, 2012This question was there about 8 years ago, now I'm having the same problem with Urmel and still there couldn't be whenever I load data into my DataGrid (RowHeadersVisble=True), the RowHeaderCells are empty but the selected one that has an arrow. Is there a way to show the RowNumber instead of nothing or the arrow?

I want to display a small form in a precise location relative to the RowHeader when the user's mouse moves over the row header of the datagridview. How can I get the screen coordinates of the RowHeader? The code below does not display the form in the proper location. I want the top-left corner of the form to be displayed 15 points to the right of the Right property and 15 points below the Bottom property of the RowHeader.

Show Popup Window When User Clicks DataGridView RowHeader With A RowError?
Apr 5, 2012I want to know if VB.Net already has a control like this before I start wasting time building my own. I have a DataGridView that shows the row error symbol in the RowHeader if the update to the database is unsuccessful for that row. Currently, if you hover the mouse over the error icon it will show a default tool tip to display the error text.I would like the user to left-click the RowHeader and a small popup window will show the error text. Then when the user clicks somewhere other than the popup window it will disappear just like a context menu. do I need to build a form with no borders that has a large textbox in it, then setup an event so when the form loses focus it closes? Or does a context menu strip have the ability to support a large textbox? Or do I use a splash screen?

Nov 15, 2011How can this be so difficult and why? Returning simple XML with no Name Spaces and an XML decaration. Creating the XML using XML Writer is easily done and if I output it to a file then great. How on earth can you return the contents via WCF. Using an XML Element is no good as you loose the XML declaration and using a string is no good as the output is wrapped up in a <string> element. Can't return an XML Document as it can't be serialised.I know that there are many posts on this site, but none answer the question. I am using VB.NET (boy I wish I had the time to learn C#) and I cannot get the Data Contract to work either even using IXmlSerializer. An example of the output I need to send back via WCF

Textbox Menu With Up And Down Arrows
Jun 12, 2011I am building a really complex program, and the only thing that i cannot make work right is the menu.The menu is basicaly 13 textboxes:
-txtMenu1
-txtMenu2
_txtMenu3
There is also a cursor next to the menu with up/down end enter button.When I click the down button it moves the selector one space down and up moves it up..The problem is when i click the down arrow it just moves the selector one space down, when i click it again it does not do anything. Same thing with the up arrow.The code for the down button is and the text boxes tab is in order from 1 to 13.When I reach the end (txtMenu13) and click down arrow, the selector goes back to txtMenu1. I need the selector to be blocked there on txtMenu13 so the user has to use the up arrow to go back to txtMenu1. The same thing when the user reaches txtMenu1 and tries to go up one more, he should not be able to do it.

Apr 12, 2012I'm trying to use VB.NET to process a very large plain text file (2 GB). It is a database and has a field delimiter of SOH and a record delimiter of STX.
I want to separate the fields and records of the file.
I would normally read each line of a text file and then use the split function to separate out the fields. I can't use this approach as there isn't always a delimiter on every line.
Is there any way to read a file until STX is found (rather than one line at a time)?

Everything works as it should but when I load a saved quote it still comes up in xml format. I need to load a saved quote in a plain text format and I also want to be able to give the output file print functionality. I was thinking of making the output file a html file which opens up in a web browser, this of course already has print functionality, is this at all possible.

Send Plain Text Via Sockets In .NET
Sep 9, 2011I'm writing a replacement for an old library we use at the office to communicate with a rather clumsy and old custom-made C++ framework that takes requests via sockets in order to communicate with a bunch of other systems. The problem is that it will only take plain text messages containing a string which must be formatted in a very specific way.The problem I'm facing is that I haven't found so far a way of sending plain text through the socket. The Send method of the socket will only take byte arrays, and while the listening point receives the data, it gets there completely scrambled, and there's no way I can mess with that in order to convert the byte array back to plain text. I need to be able to send plain text, not byte arrays.[code]

For some reason which I obviously don't know, when I
sendkeys.sendwait("{DOWN}")
The terminal shows the number "2" instead. (The equivalent number on the number PAD)
If I send "{UP}" it displays the number 8. (numpad as well)

Me.Width = PictureBox1.Width
Me.Top = My.Computer.Screen.WorkingArea.Height - Me.Height
Me.Left = My.Computer.Screen.WorkingArea.Width - Me.Width
The trouble is all the arrows point to right, and the menus open variably depending on size.
Is there anyway to make the arrows point left and make all menus open to left in same direction?
Also, Is it possible to make the width of my form autoresize to the size of a label and the image box, while keeping the imagebox at the bottom right of the screen showing the populated label to the left?

Aug 6, 2011I have just made a simple application with a questionnaire. The questionnaire has all 40 questions in the same page (that was one of the specifications) which makes for quite a long form. On top of that, each question has its own group box and each group box has 4 radio buttons for the possible answers (in total 160 radio buttons).
I want the user to be able to scroll down using the up/down arrow keys. However, if he has just selected an answer, pressing the down key will only change the selected radio button (as is the expected behavior of a radio button).
How do I disable the selection of a radio button through the up/down arrows?

Jan 14, 2010I have a fairly simple VScrollbar problem: the Scroll event triggers when ANY arrow key is pushed, including left and right... I need it to trigger only when up/down arrow keys are pushed (which, I hope, is the default behaviour).
Essentially all I do is declare a VScroll As System.Windows.Form.VScrollBar and later I have a Private Sub VScrollBar_Scroll (...) Handles VScroll.Scroll that manages the event.
I noticed also that the left/right arrow scrolling is by a smaller increment than the up/down scrolling. All of this seems to happen in a very "black box" kind of way, I can't find any way of determining what should trigger the scroll event.
Javascript - DatePicker Arrows Clickable But Not Visible
Aug 31, 2011I'm using a datepicker for a field on my form, but the arrows are not visible. If I go to the location where they supposed to be, I can click them to change the month, but the arrows themselves are not visible.
