Create A Project That Extracts All The Pages From A Pdf File?
Aug 19, 2009
i am extremely new to VB and I am trying to create a project that extracts all the pages from a pdf file. I saw stanav's post with code, but i am extremely lost on how to implement.
My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?
This code uncompresses 1/4 of the gzipped file. & I took it directely from the help file sample function codes.Any idea why is it doing this or how to fix it? gz file is attached below & it is not damaged.Edit: I read some stuff hire & there & found this: tutorial that says that MSDN doesnt set the size of the array and uses a default size of 4086 bytes. But I have no clue how to implement it into my code.In this gz file there are only around 50 lines but there are files with over 1000 lines. So I tested & indeed this seems to be the problem, because if I increase the buffer(4096) more lines are extracted.

Do anyone know how to create a .exe file from my vb.net project? I do not want the one in the /bin folder. This is because i want it to be able to run my application from a single EXE file.
i develop a project in vb.net using visual studio 2005 professinoal edition at front end and SQL Server 2005 professional edition at back end. now project is complete and i have to give it to customer. so how do i create its exe file now. i mean that how to give it completely to user?
I'm trying to do a setup project with VS2008 for my VB .NET application. I would need to create a text file into the installation directory based on the answers the user who installs the program gives. Idea is that I need to have the installation path variable in a text file so that I can read it. And also some other directory specifications too.
I could do the following: Write the wanted information to the window registry and after the installation is ready, create another application that is run at the end of the installation to create these files.
I want to create personal folders during installation. I did the following steps:
Right click on your setup project -> View -> File System Right click on node "File system on
[Code]....
I know the above steps are correct and should work because i did it in the other application (solution) and worked fine. When i did same exact steps (of course i changed the folder name to be created), the application gets deployed but when i install, i don't get the Personal Folder under Documents? I wonder why did it work with my first solution and didn't work with the current one!
I am proficient in Visual Basic, but I think I need to use .net and move with the times to achieve what I want.I am trying to write an application which extracts text from documents (.doc, .pdf, .xls etc. etc) using IFilter.I have found a very good example application in C# (Using IFilter in C# - CodeProject) which does what I want, but I am really struggling with C#.Does anybody know if there is a way to achieve the same results (i.e. extracting text from documents using IFilter) in VB?I have found a few examples on the web which do not seem to explain much - most examples I see are in C#.
I am running vb.net in visual studio 2005 and i am fairly new to it all, whilst trying to create a windows application i have lost the .vbproj file and am only left with the .vb code that has been created whilst i have been using the toolbox to create the application graphically. Is there anyway for me to recover the .vbproj file without having to redo the whole thing?
I'm trying to make a multi-threading app which extracts the names from my site. I have 1000 pages celebrity related. The urls are on a listbox List1 and the number of threads are specified in TextBoxThreads I would like each thread take care of a coresponding url on list, when they finish go to the next one and so on (for each thread a url)
I am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF
Dim Pages() As Integer Pages = New Integer() {1, 3} PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages)
Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
I have a form on a .NET webserver using aspx pages with the vb code-behind pages. The form collects the entered data and then emails it, that part works fine.Right after it gets emailed, this code checks to see if the email was sent or not and then updates the landing page accordingly. I used to use just an IF THEN statement, but now that doesn't work in these new .NET pages. Here's the end of the code that I am having difficulties with:
I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).
Using MVC3 and Razor View engine, I created a VB.NET web application in VS 2010. This creates the default Account and Home Controller along with corresponding Action Views. Now if I open any vbhtml file I get the following error message in the Error List window.
Error 50 Syntax error. C:****MVC3AppVBViewsAccountLogOn.vbhtml MVC3AppVB (See screenshot here http://www.flickr.com/photos/7672540@N07/5469248676/)
I've been programming in VB6 for years, I have decided to take the plunge into VB.net and C# 2010 but having a little problem understanding the big picture. In VB6 I could create user controls and save them as .ocx files, then use those .ocx's in other programs or on html pages. I am sure the same idea is present in VS 2010, I'm just not seeing it.Can anyone recommend a book or tutorial that will show me the big picture of all the aspects of the .net environment?
i have studied very recently that an exe file could be created using "Setup and deployment" project, then by adding the required file to it,thus we can create a 'setup.msi' and 'setup.exe' But i want to know whether, we can create the same exe file , COMPLETELY THROUGH CODING....for example, when i click a button , then an exe file should be created...
I have one successful VB program in VS Studio 2010 Express Now, I want to add features to it but keep the original as is. Is there a way to save the current project with a different name without loosing the path, resources used and code? I did try to copy the project directory to a different directory named "TMP" but it does not work.
how to create a new project from an existing project?
I have a question regarding multiple page printing. I know that it has to do with e.HasMorePages. I know that there has to be a condition that sets that flag to true and back to false or you get caught in a never ending print page loop. However, I have no idea where in my simple little print block here to implement that. As you can see I'm just printing a readline. Sometimes the file extends past a single page though depending on circumstances.
Dim strReader As StreamReader strReader = File.OpenText("auditlog.txt") Dim x As Integer = 10 Dim y As Integer = 10 Do While strReader.Peek <> -1 e.Graphics.DrawString(strReader.ReadLine, New Font("Times New Roman", _ 10, FontStyle.Regular), Brushes.Black, x, y) y += 12 Loop
I couldn't find an appropriate forum which would suit the type of problem I am facing so I am putting it here.I needed to create an intranet web application that has pages with hyperlinks to eml files. The eml files as is known are email files in MIME format which outlook express can open. However what I found was if eml files are on your machine, it opens in outlook express but when opened as an hyperlink, it opens in Internet Explorer (IE) as an mhtml file. And any attachments that may be in the eml file are not displayed at all!I didn't understand why IE has to poke inbetween. After searching the net, I came across a solution that required changes in the Registry of the client machine. The change is to be made to the node HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTMIMEDatabaseContent Typemessage/rfc822.The following is a REG file that can be imported for this change.[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTMIMEDatabaseContent ypemessage/rfc822]"extension"=".eml""CLSID"=""However after this change, though eml files opened in Outlook express, MHT files stopped opening in IE.Then I simply deleted the rfc822 node and to my surprise, MHT files opened in IE and eml files opened in outlook express and everything was fine!!But I don't want to use this sledge hammer solution. I want to know what this registry key is for and how can I set it to achieve what I want . i.e. open eml files from web pages in outlook express without affecting other file types
