Datalists In Asp.net - MyCommand.Fill(DS, "field1") And DS.Tables("field1").DefaultView Meaningless?

I'm very new to asp.net and I have a general question about datalists. I was able to get this to work, but I don't understand how really. I think I need someone to give me the "theory" on this. So first I connect to the database:

Here are my questions:
- Why is the datalist pulling field2 successfully?
- Are the MyCommand.Fill(DS, "field1") and DS.Tables("field1").DefaultView meaningless?
- I guess my bottom-line question is, why do I have to specify fields in the vb if I can output any field?
I want to search an MS Access DataBase using a Dim string Array to match the DataBase Field1 and insert a Bitmap image...
I have a MS Access database with 2 fields
1) a text 2) a bitmap
I want to search the text field1 using a strArray[intcount] to match the text inside the database then using the same row of the database to insert an image of field2...
I cannot get the DataBase to switch from field1 Text in a dataSet to field2 Bitmap same row...
the string array has only 7 arrays, they are to match the databases Field1 then using an PictureBox.Image = Field2.Bitmap
I am trying to make a database, fill it with tables and then fill the tables. I am having problems connecting to the server and am really not sure why. I have posted this thread in two areas of this site because I was not sure what was the best area to put it in. [code]
The remarked area works fine when I'm accessing a specific table. I've successfully inserted the products_model field into the combobox too. The datagridview does show the table names in the db using the SHOW TABLES sql statment, but I'm not understanding how to get this info into the combobox instead.

I need to fill a datatable(in data set) row by row by providing the the data by variables in VB.Net. The variables assigns its value by loop.. so the datatable row should be filled row by row until the loop ends. I am using nested datalists to display hierarchical data. In the nested datalist i want to be able to bind to a property that belongs to the object that the parent datalist is bound to.
I have a DataList (Question) inside the ListView (Section). ListiView is to hold the sections. DataList holds the questions of a section. Let's say I have 3 sections, each section has 2 questions.
But it does not get anything back, question always gets nohting. I think it's because there are 3 DataList inside the ListView now, due to 3 sections, and it cannot find DataList dlQuestion anymore. How do I access these DataLists of ListView from the code behind? I need to loop through each control of the DataList .
Is there anyway to filter a DefaultView with a LIKE-type operator as in MySQL?I want to be able to make it so that in my program, a person can type in a textbox and as they type, the list is refiltered based on what is typed, but I want it to match anything in the string of text, not just starting from the beginning or an exact match.
I am attemping to bubble sort a DataTable.DefaultView (column has hex Integers), problem is that my code isnt working. I think the way I am swapping the rows is not actually happening in the Devault View, but ony happening at the local variables drv1 & drv2.
I am building a custom search control in VB.NET and came across a problem getting distinct records into my datagridview. I want to bring exact matches back first so I run 2 of the same query on the same table with a slight difference:

I have a datatable that I need to get distinct records from; I am append records from a sql query to the end of the datatable so I cannot use a union in sql to return the dataset (I want to preserve the order which the rows are added) I have been using this which is working fine for 2 fields:
But when I have 3 (or more) fields I get duplicates ONLY for the row I am querying:

I am clearing the datagridview.source before rebuilding this. Is there a way to get the distinct rows this way or should I just build something myself to remove the duplicates from the second datatable before appending them to the new table?
I have a datatable and I apply a filter to the defaultview.rowfilter property of that datatable. If I then loop through the rows collection of the datatable, will I only be able to see those rows that the filter applies to, or will it loop through all the rows?
I am using VS2008 and SQLite. I have created a database and several tables and am attempting to populate the tables with data from arrays.
The following code (example) works fine but stops after it inserts 30 to 50 records. I am running the VB code in debug mode and when it stops, I press pause to see where it is. It stops on "SQLcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()" and when I press continue (F5) it will insert another 30 to 50 records.
I do not get an error message. Is this a timeout issue? How do I keep the loop running to the end of the array?

In my datagridview I was fill in using join tables (table1 = pr_employees, table2 = pr_employee_deduction). My problem now is during save button I want to update records from table2 only.[code]
We are presently developing an application, let's call it APP1, which uses a SQL Database which have about 800 stored procedures, 600 tables, etc. APP1 was originally created in order to replace another application, APP0, from which we do not have source code but only SQL tables, Stored Procedures, views, etc. Previous programers of APP1 used some DB objects from this same database and added some other objects specific to APP1 because it becomes bigger than APP0. And we do not need APP0 anymore as APP1 does all what we want, and more.
So, now, we are thinking about a way to find out which objects are used by APP1 in order to remove objects which are ONLY used by APP0.What is the best approach to discover all objects used by APP1 without having to open every single class and form?
Once we will have a complete list of these objects, it will be easy to use a program we bought which detects all dependencies for all SQL Objects specified directly from SQL and remove objects which do not return from any dependencies. Any ideas of how I could get this list without having to go through all our program that have many, many, many classes and forms?
Note : I know, in a perfect world, all calls to PSs and tables should be in a DAL but in the case of the application we're presently working on ... this is not our case! Yippy! (sarcastic yippy) ;)
Note 2 : This application is not using any ORM. So all queries are directly using SqlCommand. So any call to any DB objects are in string format.

The first dropdown fills up with brands as it is supposed to do, but the second does not. The second dropdown needs to show car models by the chosen brand in the first dropdown. However the dropBrand.SelectedValue always returns 0 whatever brand I select. Without the convert toint16 it doesnt work either nor with convert toint32 or toint64.
