I have a datagridview i use to load alot of klients into a combobox. The values of the datagridview is a connection to a MySQL db.
What it's suppose to do, is to: When clicking the combobox, it should make a list from the datagridview, getting all the names from the klients.
My problem is that it gets dublicated, and will use to much memory at a moment.
I've tryed to check if the item it was about to add allready existed in the datagridview, if it was, it shoudn't add it again, however my code failed, and I'm having huge CPU and RAM useage when running this problem for more than 30mins.

I'm building a code editor app in VB.NET (Framework 4.0) and it opens all ".por" files into individual forms consisting of a MenuBar and TextBox (multi-line).Currently I have 20 forms (all duplicates of the first on I designed) and if there are say 4 ".por" files in a directory, the first four will open up while the others hide.
I think it would be far more efficient by coding a new form For each item in form1's ListView...but I want the next so many to be a copy of the first form I designed since I spent a good bit on it.
I have a for loop which goes like this -

I am writing an app to be a single button failover of a set of mirrored SQL servers. The app has to handle several other functions (enable/disable and start/stop of services, writing to local registry, copying files from server A to server B, initiating stored procedures, etc.)I have a collection of labels that indicate the status of 4 services on 2 servers, I wrote a function to check the services when passed the machine name, and the service name. Originally I just called the function 8 times (4 services, 2 machines) and populated the labels 'manually'. I have all of this within a timer so that the service status is refreshed every couple seconds. Id like to clean up the code to a single for/next loop that operates on 2 arrays (an array of service names, and an array of labels) such as:
'**Fetch_Status is the function that gets service status, it accepts 2 strings, machine name
'**and service name and returns status "running", "Stopped", as my_status

The only reason I want the control array is to be able to use the .Text and .BackColor properties of the labels in the loop. If I make an array of strings with the label names it doesnt seem to pick that up.

Once Workbook 2 is opened, I need to copy a section of data from it, into Workbook1 int a specific worksheet. I was able to do this by recording a macro, but the challange is, the name of Workbook 1, and Workbook 2, will vary by User. When I created the macro it uses the files as they are currently named. I'm trying to figure out what would be the easier method for what I'm trying to accomplish. What I have is in, on the main form, a datagridview that is bound to an xls file. I then have another form that the user can import/paste data to another dgv. This content then needs to be appended to the end of the main form's dgv. Would it be easier to add it straight to the dgv and then save it to the excel file or save it to the excel file and reload the dgv? Or does it matter? I'm not exactly sure how to do either method but I figured I would start here.

What I am trying to do is update existing records in a dataset with an unbound datagridview. It updates just fine but I have added a simple backcolor change for errors. What I don't understand is it will update fine but throw the backcolor = red at the same time. Am I overlooking something here?

I'm trying to get this working in a test application before adding it to my main project, so that's why the names of controls are the way they are.The errors I'm trying to show are if "Inventory ID", "Cart" and "Shelf" do not match. When they don't match it doesn't update, which is what it is supposed to do. However, if they do match they update just fine but also show the Inventory ID error. If I comment out that ElseIf for the Inventory, it throws the Cart error. It's like the ElseIf blocks get called even if the If statement is true...
I've set up a basic loop to delete all the files in a particular folder. I've set the loop in a Try block so it doesn't crash the application when it gets to a file it can't delete. I'd like for the app to just pass over these type of files. At the moment, my loop stops completely when it gets to that exception.

Ok so here's my problem. I am trying to make it so when you push a button it will add a new character to my listbox. Everytime I go to add a new character its data replaces the existing ones I have already added to the list. I know what's doing it because it's using ThisNewCharacter everytime the button is pushed, I do not know how to work around it tho! I want it so it will continue to add new characters to the list when the button is clicked that doesn't replace the other characters data.

I am trying to edit, add, and update my database. I have the code for updating and it updates fine (I can see the modified time on the file), but I was wondering why none of my changes were being saved when I closed the window. Then I realized I was an idiot and I don't have any code to actually accept edits on this form, I just have code for updating and adding new rows It wouldn't update without me telling it which rows have been edited and need updating, right I mean I can't just type a new value in the textbox, click save, and expect it to save the change.This is the update and new row code I'm using:

I have my battle systems code set to (attempt) to replace the test enemies data with the data that I have saved into a text file every time you either kill the enemy, or you leave the battle and come back to it... or if youve run away from the enemy.ive got two functions in the battle page, one of which is an agressive attack, the other of which is the running away function, and both of them are supposed to run the function that resets and reloads the enemies data from a text file, yet none of them are doing what they are supposed to do...
the problem that I am having is that when I either run away, or I kill the enemy, its data is never reset to the baseline of 2000, it is always, in the case of running away, what it was when I ran away, or if I killed it, it is a random value less than 2000...
