Jan 23, 2009What I'd like to do is position Form2 underneath the Label on Form1 when the "down arrow" button is clicked. (Basically Form2 should have the same "Left" as the Label on Form1, and its "Top" should be the Top of Label1 plus the Height of Label1.) Please see attached images for further clarification. (I did something like this in VB6 with the SetCursorPos API and the Screen.TwipsPerPixelX and Screen.TwipsPerPixelY properties, but I'm sure there is a better way to do this in .NET.)

Jun 10, 2009I would like all additional forms opened by some command the user performs on the Form1 to open in the center of Form1, no matter where the user has physically moved Form1 on their desktop screen. The application itself (Form1) is a small box with dimensions of 442x306 that will open even smaller forms on top of itself. Right now, I have everything positioned to open in the center of the screen so, in theory, everything works/looks fine as long as the user doesn't move Form1 anywhere.

Objects On Form Are In Incorrect Position
Jan 19, 2012on my laptop most objects of a form are suddenly in the incorrect position but ok on all other computers.could this be a corrupted .exe? this is not happening on any other computers(all are Win 7)the laptop is at another location so i cannot try replacing the .exe until i go there next week.

Showing Properties Of Child Objects In The Property Grid?
Mar 9, 2010I have a custom class (Class1) with a bunch of properties. One of the properties of this class is another custom class (Class2) with its own properties.I have a property grid with the selected object set to Class 1. I can see Class 2 as a property, but i would like to expand Class 2 to show its properties in the same property grid.
Im basically trying to do the exact same thing as the Font Class on a form. If you look at the properties of a form in the designer, you can see the font property. You can then expand that to show the properties of the font class.
Booking Details Arent Being Shown In The Main Menu Screen?
May 26, 2011im writing a room booking application, and after i've entered all the details for a booking, which looks like this;

and now the problem is, its not working , its all going through ok and im not getting any run time errors. But the booking details arent being shown in the main menu screen.
VB Express 2008 Dataset Not Showing New Database Objects (views)
Mar 3, 2010I am using VB Exopress 2008 and SQl Server Express 2008 in Windows Vista Home Premium. I have created a dataset after importing all tables and queries from MS Access to SQL Server. I have now added a view in SQL Server that I want to access and use in VB Express. However on clicking "Refresh" for the dataset the new view does not display in the available objects, only those I originally imported and opened with the original dataset. What, pleas am I doing wrong? How can I see this new View?

1) On form load, the datagridview doesn't have any data
2) The user clicks on a button called filter, this opens a form where the user can specify parameters to filter the data by
3) This form calls a setData() in Form1, which fills the dataset with the data
This works fine. If I click on a button called controlPanel it launches another form and hides this. E.g.
dim cp as new ControlPanel()
this.hide()
cp.show()
On the controlpanel I have a button that links to form1. If I click on it. E.g.
dim frm as new Form1()
this.hide()
frm.show()
It redisplays Form1 but without any data in the datagridview.
I think the problem is that since I am creating a new instance for Form1 it comes up with the blank Form1. Is there a way to redisplay Form1 so that it retains the data that was displayed last, without having to retrieve the data from the database.
Serial Read - Program To Display Position In A Textbox?
Dec 31, 2010I'm working on a project that incorporates an Arduino Duemilanove board and a program that a wrote in VB 2008. Basically, when the Arduino receives a symbol from COM3, it sets a Pin on the board, high or low. I'm using two Pins, one is going to be for a laser, the other a relay. The relay is going to close a circuit, and act as the button on the Nerf Vulcan. That's right, I'm creating a Nerf sentry gun.It's going to be fully controlled from my computer. I have all of the code done for the servo, and all of that, both on the Arduino and in VB.
The Arduino sends the angle of the Servo that will control the right and left movement of the gun through COM3, every time it changes. I want my program to display that position in a textbox, as my program needs that value in order to properly function. Basically, I need the code to read from the serial port, and display what it receives in a textbox, textbox3.

In my main menu form, I have a tabControl from which each page displays is related to each class. Within each page, labels are included displaying attributes of the first related object in the list. There are also two buttons in each page for scrolling between each listed object from the same class. I want these forward/back buttons to be able to retrieve attributes from the next object in the object list and have them displayed in their relevant labels.
