I'm developing a Component. I'd like to do something when the component is dragged from the toolbox and dropped onto a form. For example display an about box.I don't want to annoy the developer by popping up an about box every time he refreshes his display or reloads the form.
I am trying to drag drop an xml file onto a form and then read the file and extract valuesI have got a routine that accepts dropped files onto the form, but i only want files with the extension ".xml" to be accepted, is there a way to only accept certain types of file like a filter? And what is the function for manipulating a file once it has been dropped onto the form? I would like to read the file.here is the code i have that accepts a file onto the form and then i have a routine that i want to read the file from but i don't know where to start with this:
Private Sub picXML_DragDrop(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles picXML.DragDrop 'picXML.Image = the created FCOM table from
My problem is that the Winsock control doesn't appear to be releasing the connection when the Close Method is called. After the Close is issued the application performs a Do Until Loop to make sure the control is in the Closed State. Then we attempt to place the control into Listen state. At this point an error (Address in use) occurrs. The control is in the Closed State.
I placed a msgbox in the error routine with Retry and Cancel. The Retry performs a RESUME response to the error. Not withstanding how fast or slow of response to the msgbox, the RESUME ALLWAYS works and the Control then is successfully in the Listen State.
When the Point of Sale program we use makes a change to a row in the SQL database, it automatically updates the ModificationDateTime for that row, and the precision is in milliseconds. I have another column called "LastSyncDateTime, and when theModificationDateTime is greater than the LastSyncDateTime, it downloads the row, finds the column that got changed, does its thing in my program, then updates the LastSyncDateTime with the same value as the ModificationDateTime so it doesn't repeat itself on the same row.The problem is that when it goes back to update the LastSyncDateTime, it loses the milliseconds precision, so the SQL Stored procedure to download new changes doesn't work ("Give me all the rows where ModificationDateTime <> LastSyncDateTime").
I am using a DrawItem and MeasureItem events to paint a combobox with a DrawMode of OwnerDrawVariable.Basically, I'm trying to have the user highlight a selection with the mouse, and then press the space bar to toggle the Save status of a song list. Then I call the Me.Refresh() event for the form in an attempt to redraw the form and the ComboBox.The problem that I am running into is that only the Combobox itself (not the drop-down area) that is a control on the main form is redrawing, and the text that is behind the mouse-highlighted selection of the drop-down list is not changing from Red to Black as I believe it should. If I move the mouse to another selection, then the color does in fact update.[code]
I have a PictureBox control (in Form3) that is used is used as a drop box where the user can drag and drop one or more image files at a time. When the user imports files, the form (Form3) will close itself.Meanwhile, the application stores file data in Form1.ListView1.The following is the code that I use for PictureBox's DragDrop event.
'Form3.PictureBox1_DragDrop Dim s As Array = e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop) For i = 0 To s.Length - 1[code]....

I have created a custom combo that automatically drops when the combo receives focus. When the user uses the mouse to click on another control or the Windows Form the combo list is undropped but the click on the other control is never fired. Is there a way to avoid what appears to the user as a need to double click?
So essentially, I have this text editor. How can I make it so when I drop a text file over it, it opens it in textbox2? Or when I doubleclick on the file, it automatically opens it in my program (in textbox2).
I have a VB.net web service that returns JSON that works fine. Once the response gets to a certain size though, the client browser says that the server has closed the connection and sent no data. This is true using IE, Chrome, or Firefox. The magic size seems to be about 16383 records, or about 1.13MB of data. I know this is slightly large for a web service.
I am new to VB and I have two detail listviews with one full of items that can be droppedinto the other. I have three groups in Listview1 and I would like different forms to open up based on the group each dropped item belongs to. I was able to open Form2 on drop by adding Form2.Show() at the end of the ListView_DragDrop handler sub, but this opens forevery item and I want different forms to open depending on the ListViewGroup the item belongs to.I set the items and groups in the property windows and not in code; I do not know if this makes a difference. So here is the code I have on Form 1 where the listviews are:Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _ ListView2.ItemDrag
I insert a text box into form1. I move the mouse pointer on top of the text box. I press down on the left mouse button and begin to drag the text box. The problem is when I let go of the mouse button the text box is not dropped. it remain floating around. My only way out of this is to press the escape key which places the text bnox bak to its original location. Thinking that it might be my mouse I tested it in Power point and everything works correctly.
I am writing a Windows service to import data from CSV files dropped into a directory. One of the steps is to load an XML file with validation rules which I load into a List(Of T). It will pull the data, and then I have it pass the list to a class that monitors the folder and processes the files. After that I clear the list and read in the next file configuration. Now I have noticed that the validation rules aren't matching up and it seems that the list is being passed as a reference type even though the signature is of a value type.Is there anything I can do to get around this?
[Code]...
So here when I pass it, at first it will have 3 validation rules in the new ImportService class I created, but when I call fields.Clear(), it wipes out the class member of the ImportService class.
I am coverting VB6 programs and I find that the following statement drops the leading zeros from the textbox tbLotNo.If I check the value of tbLotNo.text it is 0001, but it shows up in the Access 2010 database as
Im Using VB 2008. I have MsgBox() statements in all Mouse & Form Click events to TEST & NOTHING FIRES during Form Load when I click on Form or Button Controls !!! The Form Load event contains code for Displaying the Label.Text control many times with changes in the Text to simmulate annimation.
That title is really confusing I know. But I will try and make sense of this.If you drag a file onto a rich text box, it will add this little watermark-ish thing with the file extensions icon, and the file name.
Is there a way that I can get that files address, upon a certain event?
The following code works perfectly to allow moving a control on a form at run-time. However, when AutoScroll is set to True on Form1, and you drag Button1 past the right and/or bottom bounds of the form, it goes haywire. I really need someway to smoothing control the autoscroll so that as you scroll the control off the form, the scrollbars smoothly appear.
I am still messing around with Cntrl/Copy and Paste from a menustrip. Paste is working fine. The copy is working to a certain extent. It will copy the complete text field from one control to another. how do I determine what is the selected text only. My code below:
Private Sub CopyToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles CopyToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim activeChild As Form = Me.ActiveMdiChild ' Determine the active child form. Dim activeControl As Control = activeChild.ActiveControl
I've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.
What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.
So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
i want to set the CommandTarget property of menu item to the TextControl which is written in win form or just tell me any way which can execute the command lets say cut copy paste on the control which is written in win form user control and added to xaml through WindowsFormsHost
I have a form set up with a few text boxes for first name last name and job title and i got the class for EditDialog. vb. The question is I have to drop some controls onto the form to make a generic add and edit employee dialog. Now would I use the listbox or drag and drop control?
I have a user control which contains some textboxes, buttons ,labels and comboboxes . I used that control in a form and inside a split contaier.Splitter can be moved by the user. User control is docked as fill.
Now when user move the splitter the user control size is changes as it is dock fill but the inner controls used in that user control looks like fixed in a single place .It are not moving nor resizing .How to do this .Is there any property to perform thisI already know about anchor property but sometimes it causes overlapping of controls so I can not use it.
I have a basic Windows form with one Crystal Reports form veiwer control on it. When ran on the development machine it displays the report fine. After build and publish the application is now installed on a user PC. I am getting an error that the Crystal Decisions. Windows. Form version 12.0.2000.0 can not be found. All the Crystal dll's are in the install directory but none of them are being installed in the install machines GAC.Am I setting my publish output up wrong, may references wrong, or is the local GAC files the problem. The message is so criptic, it doesnt really point me in the right direction.

When this row GroupBox1.Controls.Add(textbox1) and GroupBox control are being deleted from Form, the TextBox isn't created on the Form after the event is fired.
I've created the beginnings of my new web application, but I am often coming up against the issue that ASP.NET renames elements IDs or in the case of form fields, their names.I have a form which is basically a sales system. It is essentially made up of two User Controls, one is a form for Customer Details (name, address etc) and the second is a form for the customer's purchases, it consists of a number lines dynamically created by Javascript created as you list the items the customer is purchasing. Both these sections are User Controls because they are to be used for other areas of the system where this data will need to be recalled/re-entered.When the USer Control is loaded, the field which contains the Customers' Name is renamed "m$mainContent$customerForm$name" I understand where this comes from, "m" is the ID of my Master Page, "mainContent" is the main Content Placeholder and "customerForm" is the name of the User Control.
In fact, in my case, this will always remain the same on all forms, so it is relative easy to overcome... but... suppose it wasn'tI can see there are ways I could deal with this with Javascript, but the form doesn't need an AJAX submit, a normal Post will do fine for this, so when I open up the recieving page I want to call Request.Form("name")% to save the customer's name into the database, but of course I really need Request.Form("m$mainContent$customerForm $name")%How would I dynamically extract those prefixes from the posting form to ensure that if I rename anything or use it in a different scenario, the problem will not break it?I am using .NET 2.0, so can't use Static Client.

I have another question (and anticipate that I will have about two more before I'm done with my class project). Here is my issue (and I'll copy and paste my code for clarification). I need to link up the control from the form on either side of the current form that I'm working on so that if I click on the buttons that I'm titling previous and next that I can click on the proper button and either go directly to the previous form or the next form. I was successful in doing this for two earlier forms on this project (with some direction from a couple of helpful people on this forum before), but for some reason, no matter what I details I use the controls do not connect to the previous and next forms.
