Fix A Progressbar That Is Working As A Sort Of A Counter That Show's Where The Music Count Is?

I am doing a media player, based on WMP's controls..And i am trying to fix a progressbar that is working as a sort of a counter that show's where the music count is.And also what the name of the song is.and also trying to make all the songs would show without extension and the whole C:\music\mysong.mp3 instead having mysong.mp3

Interesting that the HScrollBar control works from Minimum at left and Maximum at right but the VScrollBar control has minimum at the top and maximum at the bottom. This is counter intuitive but not a show stopper since you can tweak your code to correct it.However: another issue is that the Large Change value will not allow you go go to the Maximum value unless it is evenly divisible into the Maximum value. You can always set the Large Change value to 1 and it will work OK but what good is this?

I am making a program that can backup files and folders, i cant seem to get my progressbar to show correctly, is there a way (without showing the default windows copying progressbar) to get the total MB of all files and sub folders in a directory and then make a progressbar have max = MB and how to step this progressbar?If it is not worth it, it is not fun - you say programmers are boring but i say they are worth it.

I should mention that the control is created dynamically and placed on a dynamically created TabPage that in turn is added to the main tab control that is on the static form (Form1) that is refreshed - but I do believe that 'Refresh' should ripple though to all sub controls?
I am using the notify icon to display a popup and i want to show a button and a progressBar in the popup if it is possible. If you've used yahoo messenger or msn messenger you know that when you recieve a call it shows you a popup and you can interact with it. Thats the kind of thing i want.

I am looking for a way to implement a PrograssBar on Application TaskBar item on Windows 7 as you can see in Windows 7 like when copying files! I need to do it with a few lines in Visual Basic .NET 2008. I know there is a Windows API Code Pack by Microsoft but it's a large collection and written in C#. How to do this in VB.NET without using a .dll reference?
on page load i have a listbox which gets populated with the subfolders of a folder, im trying to have it so a progress bar fills as each item is added but im not having any luck with remembering how to do this And googles not been to helpfull.Heres my code so far:

Hey guys, I'm a new guy in VB.NET. I am proposing my final year project a title called music studio. My version of music studio is like real music video where we can play many sound at any time. For example, the application that I want to build can create many button and also add an audio along with it. And then, when we hit the 1st button, it play 1st audio. while 1st audio play, we also can hit 2nd button and 2nd audio is playing. for example, 1st audio is sound of man walking, and then 2nd audio is the sound of glass break. lastly 3rd sound sound of police siren play. Is it cool? so, my question is, is it possible the I can build an application by using VB.NET?
This is my first time posting here although I have been lurking for quite some time. I'm stuck with a problem I have seen before and never solved: I have a long list (~23,000) of alphanumeric strings that I'm reading into a List(of String) from a text file, and then sorting. When I iterate through the list after sorting, it appears to be correctly sorted EXCEPT that the element that was originally at the beginning of the list is now at the end (and it should be somewhere in the middle after the sort)Here is a sample input:
I have a slightly odd problem that I think is most likely due to an act of foolishness on my part, but for the life of me I (and other members of my team) can't see it.I have an object that contains a generic list property which I would like to sort. I have written a comparer class to do this for me and I am calling it in the following way:baseObject.ListOfThings.Sort(new ThingComparer()I have debugged into my compare function and it is returning the right values.However After the sort call, the list remains unchanged. I've tried google a way to sort a table but couldn't get my code working.My program lets the user input enter information such as first name and last name in textboxes, once done they click on update button(so far everything works).On the top right of the form it has a Combobox and it displays a list of all the names of poeple the User inputed... but it shows it in the order the user inputed.I want to have a sort button so that way when the user clicks on "sort" it will alphabetically sort the msql table by last name and reupdate that on the Combobox (most importantly save msql with the new order of names)
There are 3 textboxes->textbox1,textbox2,textbox3 and 1 button.In textbox1 bname will be stored and in textbox2 aname is stored.Bname and aname are columns of databasetable.This are not unique.There are same bnames and anames records.What I am trying to do is:when the user clicks on button then the code should match textbox1 and textbox2 with the databasetable and get the count of rows that match this data.
The code below works for clicking on a cell and showing the text in the proper textbox. I am monitoring cell 0 and 2-5. The problem is when I sort the database by clicking on one of the headers that is monitored, the program shows the below error. The error corresponds to the cell position that is monitored. In other words if I sort on the first column (0) then the error is associated with the following [code]....
I'm working with datagridview.I found an example on the web about creating a datagridview: firs I make my array containing data, then I make a datatable from array, then I make datagridview from datatable.I don't know if it's the correct way but it seems work.In a column I make random numbers for test: for example I have on column "Time" these values: 1155, 1725, 584, 996, 1352.Then I try to sort with code when I press pushbutton: it doesn't work because I have the values:1155, 1352, 1725, 1758 (until now it seems to work correctly), but then I have 584 and 996 values: wrong!Ok, let's try with the manual sorting: same result.I filled cells with "integer" values, let's try using strings, then I used "value.tostring" same result.I also tryed to fill strings with blankspaces to obtain same length, but nothing changed. "1155", "1352", "1725", "1758", " 584", " 996".Then I tryed to fill with "0" values:"1155", "1352", "1725", "1758", "0584", "0996".The same.How can I fill cells values?
I have so many form to manage. I want to count the instances of a particular form. For example, if I show my form1 two times then there must be a counter for my form1 and if I also shown my form2 another counter for form2.I want to do this to minimize the instances of forms to be shown so that my resources will not burden to much.I want my code to be generic so that I can easily call it for my other forms.

There excepion message I get is: The requested Performance Counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as ReadOnly. I looked for a property to see if I can set it but couldn't find one.
I'm fine with both C# and VB.NET..I have two tables. Authors and Books. It's a one to many relationship, Authors to Books. I'm writing a query to show how many books that each author has.[code]But in the Authors table, there are some authors without any books yet. For example, there two authors, Author D and Author E that have no books yet. I want to write query that includes all authors and number of ther books, even though they don't have any book yet, no record in the Books table yet.
I am trying to use a progressbar to show on main form and then finish when next form is loaded, I have got this code.
1. When I click on button, it must open next form, but the next form must only open when the data in my list box has been loaded from Access Databse. When I run my program, it only shows the progressbar and don't open the next form.

I'm trying to make a -what i thought would be simple app.My intention was to build program that:1) i'd provide a grayscale image2) the program would count the black pixels the grey pixels the more grey pixels etc. (the hue) and the white3) would make the percentage sum of all pixels, that is: 300.000 black pixels (rgb 0 0 0) etc. given that 0 is the black, 100 the white. e.g a simple grayscale image is 55.2 white
This was my way and i don't think that is useful:
First of a button to convert the image to greyscale:

Secondly, -and that's the stupid way- i did -or better i wanted to do- this: i put the code to dynamically create labels, each label having the colour of a pixel as background colour and as text the colour converted to rgb
The third step which i intended to do (i couldn't get pas two) was to sum up the labels etc.
