So I made a Listbox, and also a custom class called "Enemies". I used a Bindingsource to Bind "Enemies" to the Listbox. "Enemies has three properties which are: "Name as String, Health as String, and Dead as Boolean".The thing I need is when I add a Enemy to the listbox, I want the BackColor of the item to either be Red or Green, depending on if the Item.Dead property is false or true.

Throughout testing I can verify that vbCrLf is being replaced with a space as expected. When I re-examine vTransaction the changes have not been retained and the vbCrlf's are still there. What do I need to do to retain the changes being made to values in vTransaction.
Let's say I have a custom class called CustomItem that holds the Name and 'SomeProperty' properties:[code]Now, on the click of a Button, I want to select the CustomItem whose SomeProperty is equal to "Property 4". Of course, this is just "Item 4", but the names and properties are not that correlated in the real application than they are in this example.I have spent ages a long time ago figuring out how to do this. I could not directly set the SelectedItem, because I first need to get the CustomItem that actually matches my condition (SomeProperty = "Property 4"). My solution was to use a loop, looping through each item in the ListBox, and setting the SelectedItem when the right property has been found.[code]Now, is this the correct way to approach this problem? Is the LINQ query correct, or can it be done easier, without the casting? Also, is the LINQ query faster than the For loop, especially for a large amount of items? I expect it to be, but I don't know how to test this.

If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?

I am fairly new to VisualBasic .NET (2008). I'm creating an application that, when a number is entered into the textbox, a new form window is created and populated with buttons. Each button starts the same command, but with a different parameter (the parameter being the pertinent record number found by the search).'The records are asset tag numbers.The procedure works fine if there is only one result.But the search allows for partial numbers and that's where the trouble begins.If two or more results are found, each button is configured with the last number found. The button being clicked doesn't tally with the proper ID number.[code]
What I didn't count on was that the event is only called when a button is clicked. When buttons are made, they are not assigned at that time.I've had problems trying to carry over the (current value) for pcArray(i), hence having it populate that form3_text field. As a coding exercise, I would like to know if it is possible to build a bindable data structure that would have a dynamic collection of field objects, in which each field not only would have a specific data type, but also would hold the value for that field. That is, is not like a DataTable where you can have many rows, I only want to manage a single collection of values.

I'm developing a solution that I'm going to split into two different directions.I've built custom controls for the first application, and now I'm creating a new solution where I'm importing all the Forms and Modules to the new solution I'm developing by using "Add Existing Item" from the Solution ExplorerWhen doing this, most of the errors I'm receiving I'm able to correct by "Find & Replace" with the new name of the new solution. (They seem to be references to the old name of the solution, that I simply replace with the new name. Example. Global.Xname..... I now replace with Global.Yname.

I am having Socket server, and I have two forms. One is the main form for the server and the other one is a custom made messagebox. When a request comes to the server the main form has to invoke the second form (messagebox). When the main form is open for the first time everything works fine. But when I close the main form without closing the application and open it again and request comes to the server the custom made messagebox opens but it freezes and looks like this:

In PageBase I have overridden the OnInit() and when it is called and I inspect the value of 'Me', it is of the type of the derived class and not the base class. My question is how does inheritance really work? For instance, when instantiating TestPage does an instance of PageBase get created too?

Is there some sample VB code that I can gain access to that shows how to test on multiple selections that were selected within a listbox using the "For each" construct? For example a user selects an artist from the treeview control and it displays all the albums by that artist in the datagridview. Once a user selects an album all information for that album is displayed below the datagridview in either a listbox or listview control. I've tried dragging the conrols from the datasource and it' won't drag onto the listbox. What do I need to do to get it so that it will display album, artist and track information?
