Main Form "hiding" Secondary Forms?

I have a windows forms application with several 'child' forms. (It's not MDI, and I don't want it to be).Normally everything runs fine, but on occasion windows gets into a state where all of the 'child' forms on the application are invisible when they should be on top of the main application. The oddest part is if I move another application's window over my application (i.e. explorer or notepad) the child form becomes visible within the boundaries of the other application. It's like windows is drawing my main form over top of the rest of the forms in my application without regard the z order, or topmost flag, or anything. If I cover the main form with a notepad window, etc. It draws my 'child' forms properly. Rebooting the computer and restarting the application temporarily solves the problem.

the client has asked for all forms and classes to be hidden from the main project, so when he sells it, they will only be able to see part of the project and not all the classes and forms.My Solution: I have created another project called project2, and added all the forms and classes from main project, fixed all errors and compiled it.I deleted all the forms from the main project and added a reference so that it gets all the forms from the other project by referencing the dll file, but it does not seem to work and get a lot of errors.is there an easier way of hiding the forms and classes from the main project or do I need to do more then just add the reference.

[Code] I want like to check if a file exist on main form, if not: force open settings form. And then when the user is closing the form with exit button = check if the file exist again. If it doesn't exist, close application. It's a huge application and I need optimized on most parts. Also, the settings form is asking the closing question two times.

When I open my child form,
frm_Analogs.ShowDialog()
It opens up the new form, but now I can not interact with my main form. It will not accept focus or allow me to interact with it.
Do I need to change the form type?

I have to write an application that consists of mainly one main form, but several different things I wanna display. Pretty standard I guess. So there is a menu, some controls, and the main stuff below (ranging form graphs, tables, dropdown boxes, print preview, etc). I would like to use it like one would use frames in html, design an object that is limited to a box or panel that I define. The literature I have does not give me a clear idea of how to do this (yet). The most obvious seem to be the use of MDI, open a predefined form with no borders, maximize it before showing and remove all minimize/maximize options. But that does not work so well. The form inside the MDI parent does not fit the size that is given for it when it is loaded. e.g.

So my main question is: Is MDI the way to go here at all or are there better/easyer ways to achieve this? If MDI is the way to go, how do I sucessfully restrict a child form inside another object, without giving the user any opportunity to resize (i noticed that I have minnimize/maximize/close buttons, even if I disable them on the child forms themselves)

I am adding records to a database from a modal popup. After hiding the modal popup, the page has not been refreshed (even though I have Re-bound the controls). I have reviewed a few postings on the web about this but the solution still evades me. I have attached my code after removing some of the extra detail.

I've created a windows form application in vb 2010. I've got all my forms complete and now want to add a Login screen. One the login screen, after the username/password is entered and OK is pressed, I try to open the a connection string. Obviously if the connection fails, the user has entered the incorrect credentials. If the credentials are ok, True is returned and I then open up the Main form that shows the correct items for the logged in user.

I am looking for a way to be able to use the tab control on my main form and transfer all 3 other forms onto that main form that has the tab control. Problem being is that some functions are named the same in each of the septate forms i want to bring into just one for the tab control.Is there a way to separate the code for each form ON the main form of the tab control so i don't have to rename/recode each of the 3 forms i want to place on the main form of the tab control? I was a vb6 user, done a few projects only with forums Now i am moving to vb.net(vb2010) and i have some trouble.Lets say we have a form(form1), a module(mod1) and a textbox on the form1.
i want to start a Sub (DoWork) in the module but in a new thread.

Thread1.Start()
The DoWork sub does some stuff and when it's finished i want to change the text of a textbox1 in the main form and start another sub (DoWork2) on the main form under the main thread not the one DoWork is running under.
Plese do not refer me to another post that mighe give me a part answer, try to explain to me what i have to do and why.

I am using the following code in the 'Application.Designer.vb' to set one of the two forms as the the mainform for my splash screen.The global string array gSetupStr(0,1) only produces a correct result when any Msgbox is inserted before the 'If' statement.However,I do not want the Msgbox during a splash screen, but do want to control the mainform. I have a splash screen, the default from Visual studio. It loads up, is shown for a few seconds, then, when it disappears, the main form is loaded. Now here is the problem: the main form appears in the back, behind the windows explorer window I load the application from.
The weird thing is that this only happens on some computers, particularly Windows XP machines.I tried a lot of things like BringToFront() or TopMost = true in the on Load event of the form but nothing seems to change this.

Am devloping an application with multiple forms, which reside on top of a main form. i.e the main application window. The 'child' forms do not need to be linked in any way as they do not pass information to the parent form, as all the parent form does is act as main window.Now I would like to know what is the correct way for the 'main window' form acting as a container for the other forms? So that all the smaller secondary forms stay focused on top of the main application form, that when the main window is minimized, so these forms should do also etc..
I have read other posts and they mention, leaving all the forms standard i.e. IsMdiContainer = False and then using form.showDialog() to call the secondary forms. This did not work for me as what happens is that as soon as I give focus to the main app form, the secondary form disappears underneath.I tired making the main app form IsMdiContainer = True and when it loads calling:
frmMemberForm.MdiParent = Me
Now this works, because I can click off the form and minimize the app etc and the frmMemberForm doesn't disappear. However if i close the MemberForm and reopen it, it looses this property and once again when it looses focus, it will disappear.

What I have is a user control that has two RichTextBoxes. In the user control, there is RichTextBox1's TextChanged event, I want it to set RichTextBox2's Text to the same as RichTextBox1's Text, I'm currently using: RichTextBox2.Text = RichTextBox1.Text. I have been working on a project of mine that will streamline some issues at the office. (Note: There is not much in way of documentation or comments as I just started on this)
This is what I have so far and I am getting this error:
"System.ObjectDisposedException was unhandled"
I can edit the database with the second form initally, but it pops up an error after I return to Form1 and then attempt to enter into the 2nd form any subsequent time after the first initial load.

I have two forms for my application, that are visible in the Windows taskbar. When a modal dialog is popped up on the main form, the secondary form is locked. However, when the user clicks on the secondary form on the taskbar, it appears over the modal dialog box, and is basically frozen. Is there a way to ensure that the modal dialog box does not draw underneath the secondary form? The topmost property is no good, since this draws on top of everything, even stuff not related to the application.

The above code is what I used in VB6 to close all forms associated with my programs before my program closed. I have been searching for information on how to make sure all forms are closed when closing a VB2008 program.
I have seen info on using the Project Property Shutdown mode When startup form closes and I currently have this set.
Is this all that is really necessary? Will the garbage disposal close everything else to free up RAM?
Also, if I have several forms open and want to close all from the main form without closing each one individually, what is the best approach? Is there a collection like in VB6, go through the collection, compare it to the name of the main form and close it if it is not the main form?

Im learning VB.NET and as a first task im creating a login form. ive been trying to link it to another form once a correct username and password are entered. however, despite that i still cant be able to hide it or unload it once the next form is loaded

When my login screen loads, if the user has not created an account the form will close and a form to create an account will appear. However when I code this both forms stay visible, instead of just the one. Where am I going wrong?[code...]

At present when I use the me.form1 , but both Form1 and Form2 both closes.I would like to press a button or on a timer, to show Form2, while closing Form1.

It seems like such a simple thing to me, but it seems like the usual, me.hide() isn't working in this case. I have 2 forms that tie together, the login form, and then the main for being form1. The login form has an autologin feature, which works out fine, but with it enabled, the login form doesn't automatically hide like it should.

I am using a MDI parent to house each of the forms in my application. I have a main form and 2 sub forms. The sub forms are opened using the code below. Also, when I am finished entering info into these forms, i am hiding them so that I can reopen them with the same info still entered.

I have a form e.g. Form1 , which displays a datagridview.
1) On form load, the datagridview doesn't have any data
2) The user clicks on a button called filter, this opens a form where the user can specify parameters to filter the data by
3) This form calls a setData() in Form1, which fills the dataset with the data
This works fine. If I click on a button called controlPanel it launches another form and hides this. E.g.
dim cp as new ControlPanel()
this.hide()
cp.show()
On the controlpanel I have a button that links to form1. If I click on it. E.g.
dim frm as new Form1()
this.hide()
frm.show()
It redisplays Form1 but without any data in the datagridview.
I think the problem is that since I am creating a new instance for Form1 it comes up with the blank Form1. Is there a way to redisplay Form1 so that it retains the data that was displayed last, without having to retrieve the data from the database.

I've created a program with a login form. Once you log in, the login form should close and the next form should display... my problem is...
If I use Me.Close()... than both forms close and the application terminates.
If I use Me.Hide()... than the application never unloads from memory and run indefinitely.
So what do I do? Neither of these work how I need them to.
