Way Of Hiding Forms And Classes From Main Project

Aug 31, 2009

the client has asked for all forms and classes to be hidden from the main project, so when he sells it, they will only be able to see part of the project and not all the classes and forms.My Solution: I have created another project called project2, and added all the forms and classes from main project, fixed all errors and compiled it.I deleted all the forms from the main project and added a reference so that it gets all the forms from the other project by referencing the dll file, but it does not seem to work and get a lot of errors.is there an easier way of hiding the forms and classes from the main project or do I need to do more then just add the reference.

Main Form "hiding" Secondary Forms?

Mar 31, 2009

I have a windows forms application with several 'child' forms. (It's not MDI, and I don't want it to be).Normally everything runs fine, but on occasion windows gets into a state where all of the 'child' forms on the application are invisible when they should be on top of the main application. The oddest part is if I move another application's window over my application (i.e. explorer or notepad) the child form becomes visible within the boundaries of the other application. It's like windows is drawing my main form over top of the rest of the forms in my application without regard the z order, or topmost flag, or anything. If I cover the main form with a notepad window, etc. It draws my 'child' forms properly. Rebooting the computer and restarting the application temporarily solves the problem.

How Often Do Professional Developers Use Multiple Forms/classes Per Project

Apr 6, 2010

I am in college taking computer programming and we are now in multiple classes and forms. It was very hard to get ahold of at first but now that I understand it a bit better I am curious as to how often in a professional enviornment do developers create multiple classes for a project? Besides the use of custom functions what else is beneficial for it?

Take Some Existing Classes We Retrieve From A Web Service And Hiding Public Functions?

Nov 18, 2009

[code]...

EDIT: The above class is just an example of what could be returned from a web service. I won't have access to modify it at all, sorry if I didn't make that clear.Is it possible to somehow make a clone this class, so that it retains all of the properties values, but hides the fact that there is a Public function?I'd like to be able to take some existing classes we retrieve from a web service(which we didn't write) and be able to pass them on for use in an application, but without exposing the functions. I don't want to go down the route of creating my own classes that specifically define each property and write the values in (due to the sheer size of some of them), so I'm looking to see if there is anything dynamic I can utilise (maybe there is a way using reflection?).

Asp.net - Refresh DataGrid And DropDown On Main Page After Hiding Modal Popup?

Dec 7, 2009

I am adding records to a database from a modal popup. After hiding the modal popup, the page has not been refreshed (even though I have Re-bound the controls). I have reviewed a few postings on the web about this but the solution still evades me. I have attached my code after removing some of the extra detail.

It seems I need to cause a postback, but I don't know what needs to be changed. Some posts have talked about the extender being misplaced.<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="Head" Runat="Server">

IDE :: Windows Forms Classes Appear As Class Modules Not Form Modules In Project Explorer

Jan 7, 2011

Yesterday I opened Visual Studio (2008 v 9.0.30729.1) and all the winform classes in my project display with class module icons with the little 'VB', instead of form module icons with the little form icon!

When I double click on a form module, the form designer doesn't open, just the code module.

When I run the project, it runs fine. There are no errors. The project builds fine.

I did Project --> show all files, and I can see the designer and resx files below the form module which doesn't look or act like a form module.

I can't open my forms to design them!

Calling The Classes To Be Used In The Main Form?

I have an original assignment that works fine, now I need to go back and make it into classes. I am not 100% how to do this. My issues are with calling the classes to be used in the main form, and what to put into the classes.

I will post the original working assignment and my understanding of the classes.

Provide Variables From Main To All Other Classes?

Oct 18, 2009

I have a need to provide mouse coordinates and click details to the sub-classes of an application. The details are stored in a typed variable in the main class, as they are not processed when the event occurs.

What is the correct way of getting the classes to refer to variables in the parent class that instigated them? I realise this is not standard practise, but at this stage in the project I am converting code from a procedural language and need to do this as an intermediary step. Using the mouse events is also not possible, as this is a DirectX-oriented real-time program, and some things still have to be processed procedurally. They have to be stored via the event and then processed manually.

I may have dozens of instances of the classes, so distributing the mouse data every time it changes is not a good option. Ideally, the class should be able to retrieve the data when it needs it.

VS 2010 Make Classes Import Into Main Form.vb

Mar 20, 2012

I was just wondering how you can make classes import into your main Form.vb

Let's say I make a class with the following.

Public Class OtherStuff
Public Sub HideMe()
Form1.Hide()

[Code]....

How could I make the Form1.vb include the things that are in OtherStuff.vb.

All of the solutions that I have tried come up with the same error. Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference.

VS 2010 Hiding/Showing Forms In MDI?

Feb 16, 2012

I am using a MDI parent to house each of the forms in my application. I have a main form and 2 sub forms. The sub forms are opened using the code below. Also, when I am finished entering info into these forms, i am hiding them so that I can reopen them with the same info still entered.

The problem is that when i show the form again, it is blank. Why would this be the case? I am never closing or disposing the form, so shouldn't it just unhide easily?Showing the sub-form(savingsfrm1) and and hiding the main form(riskfrm1)Public savingsfrm1 As Savings

Forms :: DataGridView Display - Hiding And Showing

Mar 31, 2009

I have a form e.g. Form1 , which displays a datagridview.
1) On form load, the datagridview doesn't have any data
2) The user clicks on a button called filter, this opens a form where the user can specify parameters to filter the data by
3) This form calls a setData() in Form1, which fills the dataset with the data

This works fine. If I click on a button called controlPanel it launches another form and hides this. E.g.
dim cp as new ControlPanel()
this.hide()
cp.show()

On the controlpanel I have a button that links to form1. If I click on it. E.g.
dim frm as new Form1()
this.hide()
frm.show()
It redisplays Form1 but without any data in the datagridview.

I think the problem is that since I am creating a new instance for Form1 it comes up with the blank Form1. Is there a way to redisplay Form1 so that it retains the data that was displayed last, without having to retrieve the data from the database.

VS 2010 - Hiding / Closing Login Forms?

I've created a program with a login form. Once you log in, the login form should close and the next form should display... my problem is...
If I use Me.Close()... than both forms close and the application terminates.
If I use Me.Hide()... than the application never unloads from memory and run indefinitely.
So what do I do? Neither of these work how I need them to.

.net - Using Functions And Classes In Another Project?

Mar 12, 2012

I'm refactoring my VB project into 2 projects, one being a utility library that I want to share with future projects.My solution's layout is like this:[code].....

util is created as a class library, and the member files added into it. I've then added util into the main project's references.However, when I try to call functions in util.vb from my main project files, I get build errors like this:

error BC30451: Name 'LogException' is not declared.

error BC30002: Type 'VarFile' is not defined.

These are defined in util.vb, and it compiled fine when it was part of the main project. The declarations look like this: (I've trimmed out the details)[code].....

I can add util.vb "as link" into the main project and it will solve all the build errors, but that seems to defeat the purpose of refactoring out the class library - I would like to develop this library separately, and not always have to keep track of which file links I haven't added in my main project.

Unable To Publish Main Project

Since I'm unable to publish my main project, I've decided to start from scratch to see if I can locate the problem. I created a brand new project, just a simple form and dragged 4 controls onto it (a label, a button, a combo box and a checkbox). There is no code in any of the controls.I published this using Clickonce at url...(I'm aware people may not be happy clicking links). It's set to run only from the webpage. It runs fine on this PC, but on my friends PC and on my spare PC, it simply churns up a page of html error codes.

Event Handling - Using Classes In DLL In GUI Project?

Mar 11, 2009

I've 2 projects- one containing GUI and another a DLL project containing some implementations. I'm using Classes in DLL in my GUI. All that I wanna do is when some results are manipulated in the DLL, the final output from DLL should be made available in the RichTextBox present in the GUI project. I tried the WithEvents and also Add Handler. But its not working.In the DLL, I added...

Public Event Report(ByVal info As String)
RaiseEvent Report("The folder has been Copied.") In the GUI, I added...
Public WithEvents Log As RTAF_DLL.CServer // RTAF_DLLis the project name.
CServer is the class // in which the event has been writtenLog = New RTAF_DLL.CServer
Protected Sub Log_Report(ByVal info As String) Handles Log.ReportMsgBox(info)
// Even this is not getting printedMe.RichTextBox2.AppendText(info)End Sub

The problem here is I'm not sure whether or not the event is getting raised. But I set a breakpoint and found that the Event is not handled.I tried including Imports System.Runtime.InteropServicesBut its not working.

VS 2005 Referencing Classes In Another Project?

Jun 30, 2010

I'm making an application that will be available as both a Windows App and an ASP.Net App. The web app has a much scaled-down version of the functionality of the window app. I want to reference the classes contained with the windows app from my web app. The thing is, my classes in the windows app may have some modifications: if I reference them in my web app, will this pick up the changes made automatically? Also, referencing the project is for development work, when I go to deploy the web app, I will probably need to reference the classes as dll's. So the next questions are: 1. Is this the right way to go about doing this?
2. How do I make the Classes I have into self-contained dll files?
