i'm trying to make a converter, i have 4 textboxes, 2 of them are encode, the other 2 are decoders.

I want it to be decoded when a button is pressed, because I cant use the KeyPress or KeyDown function because it will most likely be copy-pasted.

Currently I'm achieving this some thing like this MessageBox(My.Resources.MyMsg1 & vbNewLine & My.Resources.MyMsg2 ). This works.However I'd like to have the entire message in one resource string rather than adding two resources strings to the Resources.resx file.I've tried using' but no luck..message displays as "My message.Rest of the message".I've also tried manually adding a new line in the Resources.resx file. ( by doing "My message.<Shift+Enter>Rest of the message" But message is adding an additional space before the message in the second line.

I know the general system of binary code, but I dont know how to translate anything with VB.net. Is there a general command I need to use or can someone link me to a good tutorial about translating?
View 2 RepliesI have a windows form which to summarize lets the user open a file containing 32 bit hashes, then search for one of them. The hash is then converted to its string representation. The application is giving the results I would expect but I'd like to make it execute faster than it does now; some files can be pretty big > 100 MB.
I'm doing the file read using a BackgroundWorker object to display progress updates and ensure that the UI is available during the process. But for that i need to add a System.Threading.Sleep(1) instruction in the loop; otherwise the application freezes with big files. And System.Threading.Sleep(1) creates a noticeable lag. Any suggestions on how to make searches fast without freezing the UI? Getting speeds comparable to hex editor programs for example.
I have been googling this and have not come along a working solution for an entire day. I don't know anything about binary data types (as I've never knowingly used them) and I'm trying to write a binary value that I see in the registry, to the registry. Now, all I see is the following [shown below]... and if I try to pass that as a string to the RegSetValueEx in the WinAPI and of course it errors out...
I do not know what 'numbers' I need to pass into the lpData As Any, argument of RegSetValueEx (i tried a bit array) in order for it to come out as the following [shown below] in the regedit. I really have no idea, and my tests to place random numbers in the bit array just produce corresponding random "figures" as visible in regedit that I do not understand how to 'tie' them together logically. here is the culprit!

View 1 RepliesI have a button that i basically want to either show or hide it based on if a certain string has a value or not. I create the buttons in code so i was trying to used databindings with a converter but i can't seem to get the converter on the binding after the value changes. I'm not sure if I'm going after this correctly or not... Here is what i have for creating the button and the binding and the converter. "sFileLocation" is a string inside my class "QuestionsFile". This works for initialization but its just when the value of the string changes, this binding doesn't see the change and doesn't run the converter and all that for me...

The thing I don't understand too is that the binding works fine if i just binding the property to the Button.Content. So the property is updating correctly when it gets changed, and the buttons content changes accordingly.
.NET converter (either C# or VB.NET)? I've inherited a bunch of Delphi code, never seen Pascal before and rather than learn it, I'd rather just try to use an automated converter, if available, and clean up the code after that. Can't seem to find this kind of tool anyway I search
