Make All The Controls Except The Tab Control Read Only Or Non-modifiable?
Feb 23, 2009
I have a form with a 4 page tab control. Each page of the tag control has components on them(texboxes, comboboxes, etc). Is there a simple way to make all the controls except the tab control read only or non-modifiable?

Anyone have any have some code to make everything (or even all TextBoxes in a form) read-only all at once without having to set every control to read only individually?

I am wondering if anyone has any idea how to make the controls stack and fill up the available space left by a control if the control is hidden or removed from the UltraGridBagLayoutPanel.
Example:
[Textbox 1]
[Textbox 2]
[Textbox 3]
[Textbox 4]
[Textbox 5]
If I hide [Textbox 3] as of now, it will disperse the space left equally and pad the remaining text boxes with the space. However, I would like it to do this...
[Textbox 1]
[Textbox 2]
[Textbox 4]
[Textbox 5]
Where all the text boxes will move up and [Textbox 4] will completely consume the space left by [Textbox 3].

I want a list of all controlls in my project, not only on open forms. The reason is that i want to make an access control, and the admin will set which buttons each users can use.
What ive got so far is:
HTML
Public Sub getallforms(ByVal sender As Object)
Dim Forms As New List(Of Form)()
Dim formType As Type = Type.GetType("System.Windows.Forms.Form")
[CODE]...
This shows me all forms in project. But i cant access their controls.

I have a maximized form that has controls at the top of it and a large DataGridView that is docked below all the controls. Its kind of like the Ribbon in MS Office. The controls cover about 1/4 of the screen at the top. I would like a way for the user to click a button to hide all the controls then automatically expand into the place the controls were so the user can view more data in the DataGridView and visa versa. For example, in MS Office Excel you can hide the ribbon by clicking a tiny button that has "^" on it.
I'm not very familiar with all the controls in Visual Studio so I would like to hear some recommendations. Is this situation ideal for a SplitContainer or ToolStripContainer or am I way off base here?

I have a .txt file constructed like this:
Man C vs Liverpool:Aston V vs Tottenham:
3,00:4,00:6,00:
False:True:False:
Im thinking an Array for each line. Each input in the Array separated by ":". Then I would like to fill the controls in my form.
Found a post from .paul. so it should probably be something like this:
Public Class Form1
Dim lines() As String = IO.File.ReadAllLines("c: estfolder1 est.txt")
Dim textboxes() As TextBox = {TextBox1, TextBox2}
Dim checkboxes() As CheckBox = {CheckBox1, CheckBox2}

1- Read an Excel Worksheet into DataTable (dt);2- Check 'dt' to know if some columns titles exists;3- Query 'dt' and discard rows where some itens are null or empty;4- After query 'dt', fill some ComboBox.I wrote the code below. It works nice, but I don't know if I'm using best practices when I use Linq to query the data table like I did.

I am trying to use the Web Browser control in my vb .net user control. I am using VS 2008. Finally, I will be calling my assembly (.dll) from a web page. I wanted to display the usercontrol with the web browser control inside this web page. The problem is I cannot proceed since the Web browser control cannot be called from a partially trusted assembly. Using VS 2008 I have created a strong name for my class, also added the <Assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers()> to the AssemblyInfo. But still the web browser control cannot be seen in my web page. Do you how I can make my assembly fully trusted so that it can access web browser control? If you have used web browser control, can you confirm if this step is really required?!

I'm trying to make a label control transparent over a Panel control.However by setting the background colour of the label to Transparent, it actually sees right through to the form itself, not the panel as intended.
As an example we use a panel with a background as white, we make the label transparent, however it gets the forms colour as blue.However, we are using a custom panel control and need the label to be transparent over the panel and not see the forms background.

2) How to make the RTB's Back Color to transparent??? Cause it is not supported. Or is it I use the wrong control???

I've been making a table control for a few days, and I've got to the point of making it capable of accepting new data. To do this, I'm making it generate a row of text boxes, combo boxes, and date selection windows along the row that you're entering data into.
I've tried using an array of 'control' types and changing them to whatever specific control I need as I generate it. That sort of works. For example, the code under 'Case "Employees"' below will make a combo box display on the form, but 'ControlArray(i).Items.Add' gives an error because it doesn't think that ControlArray(i) is actually a combobox yet.
You might also be interested to know that everything will have to be dynamically generated since the table I'm using will not always be the same (and the Select Case code will eventually be replaced by something that checks for relationships in the database).
Dim ControlArray(NumberOfColumns - 1) As Control
For i As Integer = 0 To NumberOfColumns - 1
ControlArray(i) = New TextBox

I have 20 controls that I created on a form. the names are like btnRing1, btnRing2, btnRing3, etc.
So I have a do while loop , and I have my variables in place. One line of code is "btnRing1.Start = PlrName" So PlrName is a variable, pulling that info from a database. I don't want to list each btnRing1, 2, 3 in each block of code in my loop.
Is there a way to use the name btnRing + 1, or something like that so I don't have to list all 20 controls in my code.
I know I can dynamically build the controls, but I can only have 20, so I need to have a little control on the numbers. So I need to have the controls already built.

I am using Visual Studio 2008 and recently a weird bug has appeared.In my forms I have a tab control with multiple tab pages. I can place a control on a tab page fine, but when I move it by way of clicking it and dragging it to another location, it leaves behind an outline of where it should be. Looking around, it has moved to the first tab page

I have a form with six picture boxes on it. Each Picture Box has a button underneath it. When the button in clicked, a "Label" and "Textbox" appears. My question is, how can I close the currently open "Label" and "Textbox", when I click another button. I have a working code below, but it's not efficient. As you can see, I will have to list all labels and textboxes on the form. Is there a way to identify all labels and textboxes without naming them all. [code]...
