I am wondering how to open a specific program with the textbox contents. Here is my situation: I want the text in the textbox to be saved to a html file and then open that html file in a specific browser.

I am developing an application with a number of windows forms. The first form I designed is the one that opens when I run the program. This was fine all during the development and testing.
Now I want to add a Login form but can't figure out how to get it to be the opening form when a user starts the program.
I'm making a program to open specific web pages with button clicks. I have a form with the buttons and 'WebBrowser1'. Everything works ok, except that when clicking on certain links within a website, it opens a full-screen window of Internet Explorer.How can I prevent it from opening a new window. It should just navigate to the link within the WebBrowser1 window.
View 6 Repliesim having trouble opening adobe from my coding, also is my file ok or do i need to call from its folder location within the program.i need to be able to open a specific .pdf file from a whole range of file located in the program.what im getting the user to do is press 1 of about 14 buttons to select a brand. then in textbox1,enter the first part of the file name so in this case a274 (adobe runs in .pdf format so the file would be a274.pdf).at the moment i get a win32 error high lighting startinfo as the problem so im thinking its the adobe.exe is the problem. I've created a Setup project (in VB.Net 2008 Standard Edition) and I need to deploy some .rtf files in a specific folder for the user to edit. I've added these files to the project as content files but the Setup project installs them in Program File/MyApp along with the exe. As these rtf files need to be found easily by the user I need to specify a different folder on the hard drive. These are not mdb or xls files so are not used by the app itself. All the user needs to do is find them manually loading them into MS Word for editing. I don't need to load MS Word from the app, but I do need to deploy them so the user has access to them. How do I edit the file path so it does not bury them in Common Files or the User App Data or app folder itself? Ideally, since these are rtf files they could go in My Documents. (The app itself will work whether or not these files exist elsewhere.)

View 12 RepliesFirst off, I'm using Visual Basic 2010. I've done pretty well with starting out with some basic things. Copying some codes from tutorials to learn what each code does. But lately I've been venturing into possibilities of ideas in my head, and the recent idea is very simple, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
I have a main form that has options to open up other forms. And in one of those other forms, I want to make it so that you can enter text into a textbox, then click a button to "save" the textbox's content so that anytime the program starts, that previously saved content of the textbox will be the same.
And on top of that, I want to relate the textbox back to the code in the main form.
If I didn't explain that well enough, I'm working on making an extremely basic web-browser (a big jump from what I've been doing), and I added the option under a menustrip to open up Form5 to change the home-page.
I'm working on a little email form, this is what I have so far:

What I need is to take numbers from several textboxes (4 rows, 5 columns) and put them into an array. I was able to successfully do this with the string data, but there were only 5 items, and I'm not quite sure I did that right although it works. I've seen in the book how to get data from input boxes and listboxes but not textboxes. BTW-I've included my code, but this is only from one of the forms for this project.

Im trying to push (for what of a better word) the output of a button which is in a text box to a field within mysql. I have followed the tutorial on here for connecting to a mysql database. And I have also followed and it works the tutorial for getting data from mysql to a form. But I cant find anything on how to achieve the reverse of this - populating a field with data/text from a textbox.
View 14 RepliesI have 100 textbox exist on a form (10,10). I had used the following property of each textbox(.Text, .Tag, Tooltip, AccessibleName). I need to drag from any textbox to another textbox and they replace each other by the 4 content mentioned above. Instead, I managed to change the location of the source and target textbox by drag and drop which seems to be easier. I have 100 textboxes, I will not do a programming for each one putting a code at design time. there should be a way to do it by programming
