View 10 Repliesrecently i use int64.
but it's no more handle my data.
so I want something like BigInt.
I have Informix Dynamic Server 11.50 and Informix Client SDK 3.5 installed on my server. I am developing a .NET application to read data from Informix database using ODBC functions. In the database, i have a table with columns of Serial and BigInt data types defined. My data retrieve function looks like this [Code]
I've tried to modify the columns with Serial and BigInt data types to Integer. And, everything works fine without modifying a single line of code. I do need some advice how to overcome this problem as i need the Serial data type column as an incrementing id column. For BigInt data type column, may be we can change it to column with Integer data type instead.
Here's the situation. Due to the design of the database I have to work with, I need to write a stored procedure in such a way that I can pass in the name of the table to be queried against if at all possible. The program in question does its processing by jobs, and each job gets its own table created in the database, IE table-jobid1, table-jobid2, table-jobid3, etc. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about this design - I'm stuck with it.
However, now, I need to do data mining against these individualized tables. I'd like to avoid doing the SQL in the code files at all costs if possible. Ideally, I'd like to have a stored procedure similar to:

Is this even possible in SQL Server 2005? Alternate ways to keep the SQL out of the code behind would be welcome too, if this isn't possible.

View 14 RepliesI have a form with the following on it [code]then everything works as it should (as long as there is data in the text boxes) If there is one of the text boxes is left empty then an error is returned. The text boxes are not bound and the db is set to allow nulls. Is there an easy way to suggest that if name.textbox is empty then input "nothing" or dbnull etc.I have a lot of text boxes (approx 30) and ideally dont want to write if statements for each one. But will if i have to of corse.

View 1 RepliesI have two tables:
table1
case_no flow result
tc_1 001 pass
tc_1 002 pass
tc_1 003 pass
tc_2 001 pass
tc_2 002 fail
tc_2 003 pass
table2"
case_no result
tc_1 pass
tc_2 fail
Table2 should be updates from table based on the results... If all results is PASS then the table2 should be updated as pass... if any result is FAIL then the entire case_no should be updates a s fail..
This code was working consistently, but now...This code works on the first pass. Then second pass it just hangs on Code:Dim tcpClient As TcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient() for about 2 minutesThen the code will fork for another pass, then fail.....

Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others. Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning? Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:
Code:
Public Class Form1
Dim clsController1 As New MotionController

I'm sure it's probably a very elementary question, but every explanation I've found seems to be incomplete.
I just got into VB 2010 with SQL 2008 Server Report. I was able to create a report as my wish and it's vieable via direct url (URL). But I want to pass login Information and Selection parameters to the report. But I don't want to pass them thru URL, So I want to load them from the application (winform) and launch the report in iexplorer.
View 1 RepliesI am looking for some input. I am helping with a web application that is fairly large. We have some logic factored out into classes, not a true business logic layer (yet ). The classes are setup to pull values directly from the QueryString or Session variables and I'm not sure that that mehtod is proper or even a
The reason I would like some input is, there may be a chance to rewrite or at least refactor the code.

View 14 RepliesI have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing. If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I also built in my own copy protection and trial function that stores data in the registry on the local computer. What would I need to do to enable my application to run on a server/network share, so that the only a serial number needed is for the server?

I have a client/server application set up that the client sends a word file to the server and then the server converts that word file to a .TIF and sends the image back. The stuff I have now works.Say if I sent the size of the file and the actual file byte() to the server back to back, would the NetworkStream contain both back to back? This what I though would happen. So I implemented a kind of 'turn' based interaction during the duration of the conversion process.

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
