Possible To Stop Search Engines Indexing Pages With Certain Querystring Parameter?
Jul 14, 2011
I am using the asp.net DataPager and noticed that search engines wouldn't be able to crawl the links created, so I added a querystring parameter and now see that it could crawl the links.The problem I now have is that it will now eventially end up with multiple urls for the same page.Is it possible to stop search engines indexing all pages with the query string parameter such as:?pg=so the search engine will follow these links but not index:
I am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF
Dim Pages() As Integer Pages = New Integer() {1, 3} PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages)
Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
I have a requirement where I have to pass some values into the next page via querystring.This querystring is coming from third party and they need to have it on the otherpage for some analysis. I just do a response.redirect and add the querystring that i recieve from them to the other page. My problem is that the .net environment is encoding/encrypting some of the special characters used by them which I dont want as it does not bring back the correct values in the new page.
I have a webpage (OrdersAdmin.aspx) which has various buttons that call the relevant stored procedures and display the results on a grid on the same page. In the grid is a button for each row that when clicked would add a parameter to the querystring, and loads the page. So clicking say first item in the grid would load the OrderAdmin.aspx?OrderID=1. In the page load event it checks to see if there is a OrderID parameter present in the querystring, and if so additional user control is loaded and displayed. The problem is that when I click one of the various buttons again to call the stored procedure this second control that is visible based on presence of OrderID should no longer be displayed.
Let's say we have a value coming in through the URL of a page. Example: www.test.com/page.aspx?&Key=Val. Val is retrievable through Request.Querystring("Key").Is there an accepted best practice for assigning a QueryString Value to a parameter of a SqlDataSource defined on an ASPX page?
Options that I know of: Do not include parameters in the ASPX file. Add them directly through the codebehind -- and assign Param.DefaultValue upon adding. Set Param.DefaultValue in the page load (Codeblock 2)
Both of these use DefaultValue, a property that clearly was not intended to be used in this manner. Do the ASP.NET overlords have a recommended method in mind for achieving this common task?
I want the Indexing server Query to Search any type of document by document name.Let assume i have ..
test.ppt test.pdf test.doc and so on.
If I enter the test name in my search text box the , I want the search result with these file. I am using the vb.net with the help of MicroSoft Indexing Serice. I need the query of MicroSoft Indexing Serice for search any type of document by document name or title.
Public Function GetSearchResultFromIndexServer(ByVal strSearchString As String, ByVal sPath As String, ByVal sLookIn As String, ByVal sSortBy As String, _

My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?
I have an ASP.NET form that the user can make lots of changes to, each time they make a change the page PostsBack and the details are updated.If the user hits the browser back button they go back through all the previous versions of the page.Is it possible to stop each PostBack being treated by the browser as a new page?
In the past I had the indexing service installed on a Windows Server 2003 and used it to index files for my website. I did this by executing an OleDbCommand with a query and a connection string.How do I accomplish the same thing with the new "Windows Search Service" (Windows Server 2008) by using VB.NET? Does this work the same way so that I only need to change the Provider name which has been "MSIDXS.1" up to now? Case true, what is the new Provider name?
I have a search engine on my ASP.net 4.0 VB site that in which I need to link the search results with their individual pages. I understand that this can be done simply with a submit button after the search textbox but a submit button wouldn't fit next to the search bar on my page, plus it wouldn't look right.
I am currently working on creating a web browser. I have chosen to use multiple layout engines. I found this MDI Tab Control, and thought that it would make this task easier to accomplish and be useful in other aspects of my project. I am at a pause. I have a menu strip with an engine item, and within that I have Layoutengine1 and Layoutengine2. I want it so that when someone is browsing the web using Layoutengine1, and they want to switch to Layoutengine2, that all they have to do is click the Layoutengine2 button and all the tabs that they currently have open would be using Layoutengine2 instead of the previous Layoutengine1.
I have a Search web reference (from a Search Server 2010 express install) in a vb.net application that is utilizing the QueryService Class to search a production Sharepoint foundation 2010 site.At a previous point in time, we had created a proof of concept on an entirely test system that has since been turfed. From my recollection on this test system when documents were uploaded as a specific site content type (that inherits from document) and metadata was provided, we could search for specific metadata by making managed properties for each, and search results would be returned as documents (with the isdocument flag set to true). Viewing the document then became simple, as we could simply use the filename and path to display the stored file.Now we are developing a production system and we have encountered a new behavior, where these results now are returned as aspx results such as
[URL]
This of course makes it terribly difficult to locate and view the document, we can extract the Title which will then give us the name of the file with no extension, but that hardly helps, as the FileExtension data is aspx, not the documents file extension, so we don't have a full filename. We could display the page returned as a result, but would much prefer the document itself.
I've made a test document library, with just bare bones setup, (not using the site content type, or site columns) and uploaded some documents on the same site, and they are returned in the same fashion, so I don't believe the document library, or content type are the issue.
With a fairly limited understanding of both Sharepoint and Search Server, I don't know if this is a setup issue with the search service itself, with the site configuration, or with the querypacket I am sending. We also have a third party application (Knowledgelake) installed on the server that ties into sharepoint which could have changed configuration somewhere as well?
I don't think the query packet has changed since it was working in the proof of concept, other than the custom data column names. I will provide it here in case there is something glaringly obvious to an external reader.
i have a texbox TextChange event which every time when a user hind a character in it , am querying data to my database and display that data under a datagridview control.but my data now have been grow up and still going, every time am enetering a character to the textbox is taking time to query that data and if the user type a quickly word then a lag occures to the textbox.
i have seen a lot of programs and microsoft programs that when a user is typing is not seacrhing anything unless the user stop typing .with out having any other event of focus lost or anything.can i do that also in my application with an easy way and avoid using timers or any complex way?
I have a form on a .NET webserver using aspx pages with the vb code-behind pages. The form collects the entered data and then emails it, that part works fine.Right after it gets emailed, this code checks to see if the email was sent or not and then updates the landing page accordingly. I used to use just an IF THEN statement, but now that doesn't work in these new .NET pages. Here's the end of the code that I am having difficulties with:
I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).
How can i 'count' through items in a list box using a do loop?
in the vb6 code i have the format is as folows, but the error is List is not a member of combobox, i know what the code wants to do, but i can't think of the member of combobox to use. (My question is what is the "new list"?)
For i = 0 To drvDB.Items.Count - 1 If InStr(1, drvDB.List(i), "Netapp-1", 1) <> 0 And InStr(1, drvDB.List(i), "malika", 1) <> 0 Then
I am working on a 32-bit binary/hex/uint masking calculator and have run into a snag. When I attempted the following, it created an error:
For i as Integer = 4 to 126 TextBox(i).Visible = True TextBox(i).Clear()[code]....
Since this sequence of events is in 4 different places in my code depending on a user screen selection, for obvious reasons it looks really bad. Is it possible to use indexing instead?
I run a "make table" query to gather some numbers from a database. I then display a list that contains the numbers that I have gathered. The list will very from 1 number up to 20 numbers. I then want to run a report (print it, not display) using each number in the list. When I get to the end of the list I want to stop and close the list. I can do this if my list were say 10 numbers long each time but the list varies. The below is what I have. I repeat this 20 times(changing the # in the () ) to cover the list if it returns 20 but I want to stop if it is shorter than 20.
I am having a little trouble with an 'IndexOutOfRangeException'. I think it is because when the code tries to get the DateModified col from the database it sometimes contains NULLS (the users haven't always updated the page since they created it).
Here is my code;
s = ("select datemodified, maintainedby, email, hitcount from updates where id = @footid") Dim x As New SqlCommand(s, c) x.Parameters.Add("@footid", SqlDbType.Int)
I want to access each entered element in an textbox as an index in ArrayList. But, the problem is that whenever I enter value in the textbox, it stores all the values in single arraylist index.
What must i do for the program to control the value of x automatically? that is, suppose i click on btn1, value of x must become 0; if i click on btn2, value of x must become 1 and so on.
