Project Type For Relaying Captchas (not Defeating) To Use?
May 12, 2010
I previously asked around about what type of project to use for my app but I got a lot of responses about defeating captchas and spam apps. The program is a for a social bookmarking app that I want to create. I have about 150 macros created that already navigate to each site and log me in and submit my website's url.....the only thing is that I am planning on going into the Search Engine Optimizating business so I will be needing to enter a lot of different website's url so I decided that I would try to custom code an app that would have a simple textbox field for me to enter a website url and then a submit button to run the scripts in the background....as the captchas would appear they would be redirected from the website into a picturebox in the program where i can read them and enter the captcha into a textbox and hit a submit button that would enter my answer into the answer box for the captcha and then press the okay box.....each each script is executed the new catcpha would appear in the VB app so that I wouldn't have to manually be at each site to see the captcha but it would be redirected to the VB app for me to enter.
what would be the best type of project to use to create this type of app? I'm thinking that a Windows Form project would be good because I could use the textboxes and buttons but I'm not sure on how I can control the macros to run in the background..
I have 2 projects, one built in VB.NET and another in C#.NET. I want to use certain functionality of VB.NET into C#.NET and hence I have added the dll file of VB.NET solution into C#.NET as a reference by browsing the dll from my system. Say dll name for VB.NET is myData.dll. In my C#.NET project I am trying to declare it as a namespace i.e. "using myData;" and its giving me an error of "Type or namespace name could not be found"
I created a standard exe project and then an Activex exe.I compiled the activex exe and tried to make a project reference to the activex exe and keep getting the error ... can not be referenced because its project type is exe
Instead of changing the Application Type through the dropdown list of a project's Application properties, is there a way to change a project's Application type through VB code?
I m working on one of vb6 projects. There are total 3 projects. One of them is ActiveX Exe is and has main method, second one is also AxtiveX Exe but doesnt have main method (only Classes) and third project is of ActiveX Dll.Well I m trying debug and issue and trying to put all 3 prjts in 1 Group prject but some how I cant add reference of 2nd prject into the first one. I get an error of " cannot be referenced because its project type is exe" but I can add a ref of its compiled exe but this doesnt help in debugging of whole prjt.
I am trying to open a project in Visual Studio. I have VB.NET and C# installed. When I open the solution, it says
"The project file D:MyProjectsComboSample.csproj can not be be opened." "The project type is not supported by current installation"
What do I need to install? C# is already there.
ComboSample.csproj
Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 10.00 # Visual Studio 2008 Project("{FAE04EC0-301F-11D3-BF4B-00C04F79EFBC}") = "ComboBoxSample1", "ComboBoxSample1ComboBoxSample1.csproj", "{6A1F1EE5-4AED-40E0-9517-3EAC47442628}" EndProject
I have a very small VS2008 Winforms project that will not start. When I attempt to start debugging the project, I get the message:'<form>' is a type in '<project>' and cannot be used in an expression. From the file .Designer.vb.The problem is that is indeed a form. If I create a new WinForm and set the startup object to the new form, I get the same message. When I attempt to check the "Enable application framework" checkbox in the Project properties, I get the message "Startup object must be a form when 'Enable application framework' is checked.I've tried creating a new project and moving all the code and designer objects to a new form file in the new project, and same result.Other projects on the same computer run fine.
I know that I can launch activate/Use functions in assemblies that I have created, but can I start subs? and If so could I start Sub Main from an Assemble? What I mean is I want to run the created program in memory from a sub main and I dont know how .
My other question is how can I change the type of output project? So from a console app to a Windows Form app? ( I am no longer talking about using the assembly dynamicly this is more about creating the physical exe as what I want it as.
I know that they are the Compiler options command line but is it the same as the ones that Visual studio use when compiling? (The ones you see in the out put window)
I am new to this forum and also to vb.net (am an ex vb6 programmer)..I installed visual studio 2010 premium edition and it works with my own projects BUT trying to open the microsoft Lab5 solution file I get this error:
"/file cannot be opened because its project type (.csproj) is not supported by this version of the application"
I've downloaded the MSDN "101 VB Samples" from the MS site and I'm getting an error that reads "The project type is not supported by this installation". I can open the other files that I've tried (about a dozen in other folders), so I'm wondering if it is something specific with the VSTO files, or something about my VB setup.
I thought at first it was a problem with the path where the file is sitting, but even moving it from C:Documents and Settings[my name]My DocumentsMSDN to C: didn't work...Edit: I have also tried opening in notepad and converting the file to UTF-8, changing the File Association from MS Visual Studio version selector to devenv.exe, and running devenv /setup at the command prompt, all with no luck (all these ideas were found through Googling the error message....).
I am quite new to the VB scene, and am still quite confused by the variety of options presented as far as choosing the correct project type.I have been coding for roughly 4 years now and consider myself still to be a beginner. My past experiences include, hmtl, C++, vba, assembly, and a few others which I'm sure currently escape me.However, VB is a whole new boat and I'm just not sure where to get started with what I want to do.I've Googled the internet, went through the MSDN, and even did some tutorials. My current dilemma is I wish to make a program that will do a the following: Allow a User to download a set of data from an embedded web page.Open an excel file Download more data from a different web page.Open another excel document..I'm sure this is probably quite simple to do (read: I hope...). However I'm just not sure where to begin as far as choosing a project type. Additionally I'd like to have it set up with buttons, where button1 reads something along the lines of "Step 1: Click Here to Go and Download Data", "Step 2: Click Here to browse to excel file", etc etc. What type of project do I chose to get the stuff done on my list?
Each time I create a program, if I don't change the CPU type to x86 in the Project Properties, Compile, Advanced Compile options, it doesn't work. For example, if I hit the drop down button on a combo box, there will be no data, but after switching to x86, there is data. How does changing the CPU type affect how others (such as when its being graded) view the program? If the program is not run on an x86 system, would it appear to not work then?
found that Visual studio Basis not have a 'Package and Deployment' project type, andVisual studio professional Trial Edition is a temporary solution and also I remember that the license agreement says that Trail Editions
How do I reference the library project when I get this error?
"A project with an output type of class library cannot be started directly In Order to debug this project, add an executable project to this solution which references this library project. Set the executable project as the startup project."
I have downloaded the attached code from codeproject site, i'm new in vb.net, i have some background knowledge in vb6. when i try to run the code the following error message is diplayed:"A project with a output type of class library cannot be started directly"
I have tried to find the sdk ('Windows Software Development Kit') mentioned in the 'GIF Encoder and Decoder Sample', but there are so many SDKs I can't find the one I need. I am using visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition on Windows XP. The language I program in is VB. Can someone point me to the right SDKs for the sample and OS and VS version?
For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
I am confused by this error message... '_TagName cannot expose type 'basConstGlobals.TagInfo' outside the project through module 'basTest' ?i get the blue line in the 'basTest.WTag Function defination...I have a module....
Module basConstGlobals

I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database. It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project. This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project? What I'm after is like using classes. My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.
For a test scenario I have a dll project. In the project I have 1 generic class 'GlobalData' and 1 form 'form1' in the generic class I would like to make a public shared newForm1 as new form1 the line of code I'm trying is: Public shared newForm1 as new form1 I get the error newForm1 cannot expose type 'form1' outside the project through class 'GlobalData'. I really need to be able to make a public shared reference to form1. Any way to get around this? Background as to why I need to do this: I have several projects that need to use Form1 as a mdi child. I would like to just update the dll and not have to go back and update the same form in 50 projects.
i'm unable to debug my project that i made. i save it and everything, but it just won't playit says Warning 1 Could not find type 'WindowsApplication1.My.Resources.Resources, Time table'. Please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced. If this type is a part of your development project, make sure that the project has been successfully built. C:SchoolIPTTime table, using 2 loopsTime table, using 2 loopsForm1.Designer.vb 123 0 now when i open it up and try to debug it , it comes up with an error, i even try referencing it but it does nothing ,
I just installed VisualStudio 2010 Express and Windows phone SDK 7.1. I downloaded Phonegap 1.4 and added the PhoneGapStarter to the projectTemplates folder. When I hit new project I get the Phonegap icon. When I double click it to start a new project I get this error:
I've started to use a Vista machine for development. In case it is significant: I'm using MSBee so that I can code in the Visual Studio 2005 IDE while still building against the 1.1 framework. On the Vista machine, when I tried to build a particular vb project, I got this error:
error BC30464: Namespace or type'Compatibility' in the project-level Imports 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility' cannot be found.
The same project built fine on my old XP machine. I checked in this folder on my Vista machine:
C:windowsmicrosoft.netFrameworkv1.1.4322
...and sure enough, "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" was missing. So was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.Data.dll". Copying them from my XP machine to my Vista machine allowed me to build the project successfully.I'm just a bit puzzled as to why this happened. Why was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" missing? I'm also not very comfortable with my chosen solution - copying the DLL manually. It works, but surely there must be a better way.
I created a simple user control and everything went fine. Then I created another of the same control (as a different project) from scratch (creating the controls in a different configuration; but pasting code from the previous one from a text file). As far as I know I did everything the same for creating a user controlCreate a Class Library project Then Project>Add New Item> User Control Then delete the initial class that was added automatically (usually named Class1.vb) Put all of my code and components into the user control class. However, when I wanted to run it in the debugger as I did in the previous project, I now get an error message:"A project with an Output Type of Class Library cannot be started directly."
I've come from a Assembler and C/C++ background, so I understand the concept behind reference types versus value types in vb.net. Also, I've read Jon Skeet's article regarding references and value types and I understand all of that. My question is: How can you tell if a given type is a reference type or a value type? Is it simply that all integral types (ints, floats, etc.) are value types and all classes are reference types? (If so, where do strings fall?)
VB 2005 Express Visual BasicI want to move (part of) projects to different projects/ computer.I used File - export template- and was able to save templates of whole project or item(s).They saved nicely in a subdirectory called "templates" as zip files. How do I import to 1/ other project on same pc?2/ To a different computer?I tried copy zip files into corresponding folder on new system. No luck.
I made a change to a project and hve induced a major problem. I have warnings and errors now, but I can still debug the project with the "last successful build" Iwould like to just revert everything to that build but I can't find a way to eliminate the problems I induced or find a way to go to a earlier build. Hopefully I can get back to an earlier version or I will loose the entire project as I can no longer get to the designer.
If I put this piece of code in a new fresh vb.net form, add a button and two labels and start debug I get execution time of about 11.5s.If I put the same piece of code in a new form in an old project upgraded from an earlier version of vb.net, start debug I get an execution time of 7.5s.So I do exactly the same in the two projects but get different execution times.
What do I have to do with the fresh new project to get the same execution time ?I am not interested in improving the code to be able to calculate primes faster. I just want to know what is the significant difference between an old upgraded project and a new fresh one. I am using windows 7 64bit on a 2,4 Ghz Intel quadcore.
