Read A Boolean Value From A Table?

I'm trying to read a boolean value from a table. For some reason, when the statement executes it kicks me out of the method and back out to .show() method. The data read takes place in a procedure that is called by the Form_Load procedure. Any idea why it's kicking out? I've tried several versions of the command but with zero change. Here's my code. The offending command is in line 51. Every time I run debug I get to that line and then am kicked back out to my form.show() method.The end goal is to read a Boolean value Posted. If it is false then we read the data from this table to an accounts table to post the payments that are pending.

From what I read it is a good convention to name a method that returns a boolean value with the prefix of "is" or "has". So in keeping with this convention I am trying to name a method in my program with this prefix but I am running Specifically I have a class called Day. It is a simple class with a few data members and one method that returns a boolean value of true or false. The name of the boolean variable is isSpecialDay. This class has a method called isSpecialDay which takes the date of the day, applies some criteria to the date and then sets the variable isSpecialDay to true or false. My problem is that the boolean variable is named isSpecialDay and so it the method. What should I do?

I'm trying to read the table of contents from a CD and am having problems with the DeviceIOControl function. When I call it with a control code of IOCTL_CDROM_EJECT_MEDIA or IOCTL_CDROM_LOAD_MEDIA it works fine, and opens or closes the CD drawer. But when I call it with a code of IOCTL_CDROM_READ_TOC_EX it gives an error code of 6 (ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE). I'm using the same handle, so I can't see why it's complaining. It's possible that the input data that I'm giving it is wrong, but I don't think that it should give this particular error in that case.

I'm developing a VB.NET application to obtain data from any data source (using an odbc connection string), and because this i can't use specific .net connectors like MySql.Net connector and i can't previously know if the file/DMBS supports LIMIT parameter. This app will read data from a table in the data source and use the information to make some files. At this point there was no problem with some tables because they are less than 3,000,000 records length, but there is a table that has 5,000,000+ rows length, and when i send the query the connection is lost. I hate to ask this question on this forum, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding it on these online tutorials. Basically, I'm learning about SQL, VB.NET, and how to glue the two together, and I've learned about using SqlCommand.executeScalar() to get the first entry in a table. But that's all it's really good for, right? Or is there something more to the story here?
Basically, I'm wanting to ask about how to pull in a FULL table from a SQL database while using VB.NET, as well as how to pry substrings and stuff from it. Again I'm having to ask this on this forum because all these online tutorials seem to ignore the subject completely.

I have created several different colored 6 x 9 pixel rectangles (with a white border). I'm placing these rectangles on a large map, based on x y location and color code from a database. As I'm building the database, I occasionally run the program using the Debug in VB Express just to make sure everything is being place in the right location. I started getting an error when my rectangle count got up around 4500.

The release .exe works fine with no errors and a count of 6700 ... so far. As it is now it's taking near 60 seconds to place the 6700, and I'll eventually have 10,000 plus. (P4 3.20 GHz - 1 GB Ram). I'm placing each rectangle on the image as I read a row of data. Would it be beneficial to read the entire table into and array and then plot the rectangle?Would I be better off drawing each rectangle as needed or placing a my pre-drawn rectangle ?

I am using Visual Studio 2005. I am using a data reader to read an Excel spreadsheet and want to update a SQL Express table. The datatypes in this table mimic a software application I will eventually be passing data to and are listed in the comments in my code. No matter what I do or change, this will not run. I even populated my spreadsheet with zeros and this will not run. I have found many suggestions on the web and tried changing things but nothing seems to work. I also don't know specifically which variable is causing the error or the proper way to make sure there are no blanks in this spreadsheet.The error says "conversion from string "" to 'Double' is not valid Here is my code:

I have a data table whose one column is related to a column of another table. I have a listbox in a form which shows a column (which is sorted by another column value by ORDER clause) of the parent table and other columns are in textboxes. The child table is represented by a datagrid. When I add a new item in parent table and click save, the newly created item is listed at the bottom of the listbox violating my ORDER clause. I am working on a little Hardware interface project based on the Velleman k8055 board.The example code comes in VB.Net and I'm rewriting this into C#, mostly to have a chance to step through the code and make sense of it all.
One thing has me baffled though:At one stage they read all digital inputs and then set a checkbox based on the answer to the read digital inputs (which come back in an Integer) and then they AND this with a number:[code..]
I have not done Digital systems in a while and I understand what they are trying to do but what effect would it have to AND two numbers? Doesn't everything above 0 equate to true?How would you translate this to C#?
