i need to save an array of intptrs as a part of a structure in a file, vb.net gives me "File I/O of a structure with field 'pList' of type 'IntPtr' is not valid." error, ok i figured and tried to convert them to integers and while it worked for other singular intptrs it did not for the array as it just throws me a conversion error. I then tried rebuilding the array in the new sub of the save structure and while that sorta worked(i think) it then gives a "bad size" error when saving. Im out of ideas, saving the array elements one by one would be suicide as the amount varies and is well in hundreds,
I have a device with upon serial communication , it send the data as HEX values , (eg, C020042ABD0F91A103E400F929EBC) . I use the following code to get data from the serial port.
Dim fStream As New FileStream(sFileName, FileMode.CreateNew) ' creates new file Dim bw As New BinaryWriter(fStream) System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1500) ComTd.Read(data, 1, bCount)
I'm trying to save binary data ( convert from image) to byte array in mifare card with acr 120 reader. image : 687 byte mifare : 1 k My problem its can't save but I am trying to save char data its work.
I'm new to VB and trying to figure out how I can replace a bit of descriptive text in a binary file. I presume its binary as I cant open it with anything but a hex editor. I've changed the text (file description) in the hex editor and saved it fine but I'm unsure how I go about saving just the section of information I need. I can work out the saving bit later. In the attached file you'll see the highlighted bit I want to edit. I need to replace the whole line or the file corrupt but I can fill it up with null characters and the numbers are just
I'm attempting to download a file with a custom "message" i.e. with specific bytes sent to a server. I am using the lightweight utorrent setup file which could be easily downloaded with the statement in the first code tag or even using a WebRequest, WebResponse, StreamReader etc. But for some reasons I need to be able to code the "message". I would explain why but that would just be a diversion...Anyway the problem is that the packet gets saved in its native form but I need to be able to save the packet to the actual file without the header and etc. The sample code is in the second code tag.
My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile() Dim server As String = "download.utorrent.com" Dim mySocket As Socket
Some binary files have application variables at the end if you open it with a text editor you can see these variables. Now when I read these files into the processor memory the program does not work properly, however if I read a file without this it works fine. So how can I read a byte[] array to EOF so that when I pass that byte array into win32 api create-process it will create the process without corrupting the program?
I have an image that has dimension of (100,100). I am using FileStream class. When I run the code I get EndOfStreamException error at line 44. I have pasted the for loop section of the code below.
For x = 0 To 99 For y = 0 To 99 byteRead1(x, y) = br1.ReadByte ' line 44 (exception thrown here)
I have a .txt file i want to read that has states by abbreviation and states by name. In that text file some are territories and some are states.
I want to read from that file and put the abbreviations into one structure array and the states into another structure array.
I then want to lookup up the states by abbreviation or state name. The lookup will simply be selected by a radio button which will flag either the states full name array, or the abbreviation array.
all I have is the structures created:
Public Class Form1 Structure Lookup Dim Abbreviation As String

How can I read from the .txt file and store into an array
currently working through a project using VB 2008 windows form application and having a little trouble with the code. I need to read data from a text file into an array of a structure, displayed in a list box and have a number of searches conducted on the data and these results displayed on the form. The test data is of rainfall across a number of areas and is in the format:
I am working with binary files that have 500 rows and 500 columns (width x height). When I load these files into array I set width and height variables to 500 and I was wondering instead of hard-coding like that how I can code in a way that the program should find the # of rows and # of columns of the file before loading the file into array...

I'm trying to read the binary data from a binary file with the code below but the it's return the value in the byte array. How can i read the binary data from the binary file and then convert the data into string? This is how i create the binary file.
Dim fs As New FileStream(Application.StartupPath & "Agency.dat", FileMode.OpenOrCreate) Dim bf As New BinaryFormatter() Call bf.Serialize(fs, GAgency)[code]....
I am trying to communicate with an external device and i am trying to send a byte array to the external device via sockets but i am always getting a response the message size is too small so i am not sure what i have done wrong. Between the data type there should be no alignment present and all numbers are represented in little endian format. The char array is not null terminated as mentioned in the protocol specifications.
I have to send data based on a struct that embeds 2 other struct. So here's my vb.net code for the struct used to convert to byte array and the sending part.
Public Structure MESSAGETYPE_OIP_Login Dim Header() As COMMANDHEADER Dim UserName() As PSTRING
I'm trying to build something called a structure which will store data it retrieves from a text file. I have the structure set up like this: Structure Employee Dim FirstName As String Dim LastName As String Dim ID As String Dim Hours As Integer Dim Wage As Decimal Dim EarnedPay As Decimal End Structure [Code] ..... How to set these operations up?
Define a structure named product, The structure should contain 2 variables one as a string and the other as a decimal. The decimal is used to store the price and the string is used to store the item number.
Declare a module level array that contains 5 product structure variables
Code the main forms load event procedure so that it reads the item number and prices from the itemInfo.txt file The procedure should store the item numbers and prices in the module level array. It also should add the item numbers to the list box.
When the user selects an item in the list box the items price should appear in the xPriceLabel. code the appropriate procedure.
The code I have is as follows
' Project name: Glovers Project ' Project purpose: The project displays the price of an item. ' Created/revised: <your name> on <current date>

Seems the problem I am having is this line is returning a value less than 0.
I'm working on a program that when you click a button called new it pops up a new form asking for you to enter a directory location. If the directory exists it saves it into this file:
"C:WindowsSettingsButtonVariableSaves.ini"
I already have working code that saves each directory entered into the ini file on its own line.
Now in this code I'm trying to call each variable back from the ini file when form1_loads and set it to an array called ary() so later I can set the first 10 saved within the array.
So later:
button1.text = ary(1) button2.text = ary(2)
and so on to
button10.text = ary(10)
and the reason I set the array to record all lines even if theres more than 10 because I want to be able to add more buttons later on.
Here's my current code for saving lines to an array:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C:WindowsSettingsButtonVariableSaves.ini"
I'm working on a project with a large multidimensional array
resrv(200,12,31,33) it keeps track of information on specific dates within a 200 year range.
What I'm looking to do is save the array to a file so that I can load it again when the program is started.
In VB 6 I used to be able to use a simple for next loop into an open file and load it the same way. It doesn't seem to work the same way with Fthe filestream class in VB.net
The file structure is fine for retrieving data from the file but when I go to write data to the elements and hit any of the fixed array elements, I get an exception error. this has got to be a sytax problem I am just not seeing.
It seems that I am not addressing the array member correctly yet the same logic pulls it properly from existing records on file.
in a Module I have the structure as follows:
Structure INVOICE <VBFixedString(6)> Public NUM As String <VBFixedString(2)> Public SYMBOL As String
I have a string with Binarydata that is 64bit. I want to store this data into SQlServer database and the column is varbinary(Max). When I pass the string I am getting an error saying string cannot be converted into varbinary.
I'm trying to sort an array based on a structure but whenever I do this, it basically erases all the data in the entire array.I have verified that the array is populated correctly, it is when using array.sort that everything returns blank.
I am quite new to VB.NET and I am attempting to create a console application that can write, save, load and edit sets of data. Lets say I have something like this:
[Code]...
However, I have no idea how to load the data so I can manipulate it in the EMPLOYEE structure system. I am not sure if I have made my question clear enough, for as you can see I'm quite new to programming and am not essentially familiar with the terms of speech.
