When I open the Visual Studio 2005 I don't see the template i.e. Win32 Applications, C++
I am looking to declare an array of 20 integers to store the answers to the questions, and then for the next button i am looking to get the answer and write it to the array. If one radio button is checked then i want it to write 1 to the array. Then finally i want to write the username, the array of answers and score to the txt file. How can I do that?

I try to generate 10 random integers and store it in an array(9). Then I split the array into half by converting it into string. My code can compile but it sometimes work and most time cannot work. I don't know what is the problem....

The project is very simple and straight forward, just a simple Bail Bonds program to calculate the bail plus a 10% fee. However, i want to integrate a kind of "promotion", where for every $1000 of the bail cost, $5 would be deducted. I know the formula for this, which is reasonable simple, i just need to know how to round the Bail variable to the nearest 1000 so i can do this calculation.

for the date I get an out of range exception,and for these two integers (custNtitle, country) I get invalidCastExceptions when dealing with strings there's no problem but dates and numbers causes errors for me?

I'm not exactly sure what this code is doing. When I put 1 in the first number and 10 in the second number, the odd label only shows 9 and the even label only shows 10. Another example is when I put 2 and 15, the odd label comes out as 15 and the even label is 14. I'm very new to VB and programming in general and have just started getting into for...next loops and don't fully understand what the counter is or how the loop is supposed to work. I guess I'm having 2 problems. One is that I don't know how to make the program find the right numbers(my logic is off? or how I set up the loop isn't right?) and the other is the labels are showing only 1 number each instead of all the numbers in between on their own line.
Is there a correct way of doing this in vb.net? I want to read a file as a set of numbers such as long integers ,say the file contains the string "Hello World - Its a beautiful day blah blah blah" This would read as a set of long integers that are 4 bytes long

etc and that would also be an 4 byte word represented as a number 1819043144 thus stepping through the file 4 bytes at a time. Instead of reading and looking for certain words in the file I would look for certain numbers, thus eliminating read errors in certain file types. I coded this type of thing in vb6 before , this would be done with the 'get' method and a file pointer. I have managed to read it a byte at a time with this code but I am unsure where to go with it as the 'get' method isn't in vb.net

I have written a program that generates and prints 10 random integers from -10 to 10, my problem is that I am returning both negative and positive numbers, aligned right with a pad of 2, but the negative is on the right hand side of my number instead of the left. here is my code, all work but I need to align the numbers and have the correct notation of negative.

I have a "if This > That then" statement, that doesn't seem to work, as it triggers regardless that "This" is smaller than "that". Does it matter that these variables are marked as strings vs integers?

View 2 RepliesBasically what I'm trying to do is this, I have 20 statements in a Select Case (right now they're just labels for my own testing), I have a random number generator that will generate a number between 1 and 20. Since I don't want the same statement to repeat during the individual run of the program I'm trying to generate a random number, then check it in a dupeCheck method, then if it isn't a dupe I'm trying to return it to the select case and put it in the array so that when I choose the next random number if it's the same the dupe check method will catch it and return a False boolean and then the random method will do a recursive call to itself to generate a new random number and the whole thing starts again. I'm populating the numbers into the select case just fine, but VB keeps telling me that my functions aren't returning values on all paths, and stepping through I can see that the recursion isn't happening and that it's just sending the repeat number back, but I can't figure out where my major issue is. I'll show you my current skeleton code for the "GuessOrDie" as well as the first manifestation of the code I wrote for it a couple of days ago (the old code had infinite recursive calls and array out of bound exceptions)
I would really love it if you guys could take a look and let me know what mistakes I'm making, I'm having big problems moving from FOR loops in java to For/Each loops in VB and I suspect that is a big part of my problem.

I have a form with a lot of LineShapes on it, and basically what I'm trying to do is make certain lines a blue colour and others a black colour, depending what it's in an array of integers. Each line is called line1, line2 etc. So if one of the values in the array is 3, then line3 would be coloured blue.
I have the following code to handle all the lines more easier:

However, since I'm going to have about 50 seperate lines, this is going to look quite messy when I reach line50. So my question is, is there a tidyier way of handling these lineshapes.
