I'm trying to make a grocery program that has 7 windows.
1. Login screen(for cashier)
2. Main Form(contains the list of items (with the prices) purchased )
3.Item category(canned goods, fruits, chips,perishables)
4.Items in each category(about 4 each)
5.Quantity input(will input the desired quantity of each item)
6.Purchase screen(list of items baught, amount of tax, total price, and an inputbox for amount given by the customer)
7.Last screen (list of items bought, amount of tax, total price, amount given, and change.)
So the flow of the program will be like this.Cashier entered his ID and password In the main form, there will be a checkout and view inventory button button. When the view inventory button is clicked
A window with four buttons will apear. Category1 up to Category4 Upon click on of the buttons, another window will show and a windows with buttons Item1 up to Item4 will appear. After clicking one of the item buttons, a window will pop-up that will ask for the desired quantity of the item. After clicking ok, the program will get the item that was clicked and the desired quantity and will show it on the listbox on the main form with a format
[Code]...
Edit: PS I know how to code the arithmetic part of the program(checkout button)
Alright, I currently have a listbox being populated with a variety of files. What I'd like to do is select a file, click the add button and populate the item name into that textbox. Then, select another item, click the add button and populate that items named into an empty textbox.I can get the first textbox to populate, but once I select the second item, I can't get empty textbox to display.
Here's my current code on how I'm populating the first textbox. The commented out section was for adding those items into another listbox, which worked but I need to specify a custom order, which I was I thought adding each item to a textbox.

I have a VB .NET 2010 app that I created with a button to open the remote computer's C$ (administrative share). This code works fine with WinXP, but since upgrading to Win7, it won't open the folder.
VB 2005 Express Visual BasicI want to move (part of) projects to different projects/ computer.I used File - export template- and was able to save templates of whole project or item(s).They saved nicely in a subdirectory called "templates" as zip files. How do I import to 1/ other project on same pc?2/ To a different computer?I tried copy zip files into corresponding folder on new system. No luck.

I have a Vb project to which an excel file is added as an item. I would like to access the property (Full path property) of this project item through my form class. The code I have tried to use is as follows:
Dim project As EnvDTE.Project Dim projItems As EnvDTE.ProjectItems Dim projItem As EnvDTE.ProjectItem
I'm trying to do something quite simple. I've added an item to the 'Solution Items' folder of my Visual Studio VB .net project. The item is called 'ValidationQuery.sql' and I need to reference it in my code. However, I can't seem to figure out how to actually reference it.
For some reason, the Add New Item command on the Project Menu is hanging VB on my Vista based machine.but now, it hangs. By that I mean the the little circle cursor spins and spins and spins... This happens even when all I do is start VB, start and new project. and then try to add something, eg. another form, a class, anything except "existing item".
Trying to build a project that lets users click an item from a list of products (tabbed form). Once an item is selected (check box) find a way to store that item. Then when the user has finished selecting items they can click a button showing what they have selected in a new form that will open.Whats the best way to store what items they select? An Array?
I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem, however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy. So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains? This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line. This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.
In my application I have a listbox and SelectionMode should be MultiSimple because users need to see which items they selected. In another tab we have another listbox this one should show all the selection users had done in first tab. Private Sub
For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database. It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project. This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project? What I'm after is like using classes. My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.
I'm using visual studio 2008 and creating a Windows For Application.
I'm almost completed my little application and what I've discovered just recently is that any change I made is not taking affect.
What I mean is if I change the display name of a button or insert a msgbox popup, it doesnt make it to the build when I run it. There are no errorswarnings.
Is it possible to compare 2 dataitems and then display the result depending on the 2 values using if eval at run time?I have a ListView with databound controls. 1 is RedemptionChoice and the 2 is CashBack. When 1 reads "0" and 2 reads > 0.00 the output should read AUTO I have read many comments online and most point to create a new function within code behind but have found it impossible to implement on my own.I tried this as a test on the actual page:
The problem I'm facing is that PrintForm has a shoddy quality while getting the printouts and PrintDocument takes way too long to get on receipt printed (Almost 5-10 Seconds!)I'm either looking for an alternative for PrintDocument or somehow make the PrintDocument run faster
im trying to get a name entry from an input box to show up in two separate places on my project, ie first and last name, but i either get nothing or the same text for both labels.[code]
I am writing an app to take ID pictures using a webcam, I need a PictureBox to display a live image of the person sitting infront of the webcam in which I then need a captured picture to desplay as soon as a Button is clicked.
I don't even know where to start.
1. How do I get the PictureBox to comunicate with the webcam?
2. I also will need to crop and resize the picture and then print it, but this we can diskus later.
I have created an xml file and i would like to now extract data from it.
Is there a function within vb.net that reads xml and takes out all the attributes with a certain name? For example to withdraw all the authors names from an xml file about books?
But like always I have a question. I need to take the data that I have stored in arrays and use it. But how do I do that? What I need is to take numbers stored in the arrays and add and subtract them and put them in the appropriate array , like this:
Is there a way to use ReadAllLines to read in a text file that contains some Chr(10) (linefeeds) but uses ONLY the Chr(13) (carriage return) as the true end-of-line?What I mean is, DON'T treat a Chr(10) as the EOL. ONLY treat a Chr(13) as the EOL.Obviously I could just read in the whole file as binary and then split it into lines by scanning for Chr(13), but I just wondered whether or not there's a setting in VB.NET to set the EOL character so I didn't have to do that.
I have this fingerprint scanner I'm working with. The fingerprints taken are index/stored in our imaging system and the fingerprints are put on certain documents and printed. When I scan the image in and then load it into a bitmap object, the width and height are (w:480,h:640).Now if I open this file in any image viewer and print it from there the finger print is as big as a fingerprint should be.Now when working with it in code, it's huge. I have found some resize code online, but the resulting image is horrible. Is there anyway to resize an image while taking in account the dpi and such so the image is highest quality (same as print out?).
