I'm using a list box with multiple selections to add to my string -- I can't figure why my conditional doesn't seem to work. Every selection in the list box is intended to add specific literal to the string I'm building. What am I doing wrong See my code:

I'm having a problem recently, a logical issue so hard to determine various examples.I need the text that is inserted in textbox, which has been altered or modified or twisted to have a proper format through line accordance and constant white spaces etc. And some cases I stuck at defining the If statement within the loop. You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.
View 2 Repliesim in the process of using vb.net code to return the ip address of my machine its working sorta correctly i can get the right ip address if i change the addresslist.getvalue(0) from [0] to any where up to [5]this im guessing is an array of information in the network adapter or something im not real interested in the other information in the other values my problem is depending on weather i have ipv6 options enabled in my adapter settings the true(192.xxx.x.x) is in value(2) for on and value(3) for off also i tried it on another machine and it came back as value(5) of 12 my problem is i can display every value() that has information in it in a text box but i cant make the program find the right address to use(192.xxx.x.x) this code runs and produces a multiline textbox with up to 11 lines of data in it and the ip address is visible in the list of data

but is there a way to either compare the adapter address list to a mask to get the correct value() for the ip address or is there another way to return the ip im not aware of?
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.

So I have a datagridview being populated with data from a database.At this point a user may or may not selected (via mouse click / key press) one or more rows within the datagridview.I need to (upon selection) create a new dataset, datatable and add rows with the some data from the said datagridview.
For example, if a table had nothing but names, e.g.

Upon the user clicking, dragging a selection over Sean and Larry to add those names to a new dataset so I can pass it to another method for further processing.

Working on a project that contains a listView (populated from a database already) and several textboxes. What I am trying to do, and cannot figure out, is to program this so that when a user makes a selection in the listview, it hits a specific database, and based on certain values within that databse, the textboxes are populated with things such as name and address, etc..

The Locate String is there because thats the location where the iso files are but the application is in the root of the drive. The ListBox1 command is fairly easy to understand

I am using visual studio vb 2005 and I searched the forums for an answer to this but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I am using the following code to populate a list box. I know nothing about this particular language. When I look up info and tutorials I see that there is VB.net, ASP.net, DotNetNuke.
Is there just a regular .Net? Which do you think he is referring to? What is the difference between all of these? Also, can you recommend a good website or video tutorial series to learn the basics as quick as I can?

ok.. just as it sounds.. I'm kinda making a document portal app for work.. has 4 list boxes going to 4 different drive locations.. for cosmetic reasons I want only the last box you clicked in to show a selected item.. so if you selected box 1 item and it was hilighted and then you went to box 2 and selected something I wanted box 1 to then dissapear.
I have some code written to handle this.. but its not working so well.. since I use the SelectedIndexChanged trigger to fire off another piece of code to unselect all the other windows.. those listboxes fire their triggers also because I have to call lstWord. SelectedIndex = -1 to make it not have something selected anymore.. and when you do that.. it calls its SelectedIndexChanged and ends up deselecting everything.. so wasnt sure if anyone had done something like this before.. seems like something that would have been done before.. but as you can imagine searching the web for "multi list box select only one at a time" or something similar..gives you some strange results..

In my situation, when a user opens a certain type of file, I want to offer a selection of specific subfiles (line ranges) within said file as choices. The presence of subfiles and their number is variable, so this would be a dynamic situation. In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

but Visual Basic.Net says this is an invalid cast exception.Is there another way to create a random selection of for example a capital city from a list and then put into a text box?
When we left click a grid cell, or list item, it highlights. Left click outside it and the selection jumps to the new place.
I can RIGHT click anywhere in the grid without disturbing an existing highlight, but I want it to work more like windows explorer would in terms of file selection..
i.e. if I right click inside the range, the range stays, if I right click outside the range, the range moves to a new single cell that I just right flicked.
Try it now on this page. Select some text, right click on the selection and it stays. Right click outside the selection and it goes. In datagrid (for example), the selection can only be modified with a left click.
How can we change this so the selection behaviour of a datagrid/list is more like this text pane?
On a related note. If I left click in a textbox I can drag a selection out. If i wanted to right click and drag the selection out, would it be the same process? (It's for a custom string manipulation picker control..)
I seem to be having issues with the selected index on a list box.
The list box is having various items inserted depending on the user selection. An example would be:
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "Item1")
LiIndex = ListBox1.Items.Count
ListBox1.Items.Insert(LiIndex, "AND")

This all work and displays without a problem. The issue I have is if I select the second of the two AND's. If I click the second "AND" in the list and then a button to fire a method, the selected index is always the index of the first "AND". Dim listIndex as integer = ListBox1.SelectedIndex
I can't work out why, the listbox itself will always show the second one as selected, but the action will happen against the first one.
