Usercontrols - User Controls Not Working In Live

At work we have a pretty large web application that works by having a few pages, with lots of user controls which are nested in these pages. This is working fine most of the time but we have a problem at the moment where one of the user controls isnt working. Originally it was referenced from another project in the solution but when this wasnt working I decided to copy the file into the project and try to register it locally. It works on our development system, its only when we move it to deployment that it stops working, and I'm thinking it's something that I'm missing in the build. When you go to the page on Live the control is just missing, and no errors are generated.

The project I'm working on (the same one I'm always asking about) has tabs as the main navigation. I've made some User Controls to sit above the tabs in an attempt to reduce the number of overall controls that are being used (to great success). This doesn't happen the FIRST time they become visible, but only when they've shown up and are made to redraw (like toggling visibility). If the border changes programmatically they look fine

I seem to be having a problem with controls that I am creating as new classes (not UserControls) inheriting from an existing system control. Everything seems ok while I create the control code, through to the compile (which is successful and adds the control to the toolbox) and dragging the control from the toolbox to the GUI surface. I'm trying to test/debug a WPF UserControl library in Visual Studio 2010 with the User Control Test Container.exe. I keep getting the error "Assembly [...] doesn't contain any UserControls." This should be simple, and every msdn article and blog tutorial I've looked at suggests that it should all just work perfectly and magically.[code]Project File has debug options set to open UserControlTestContainer.exe, with ./MyTestLibrary.dll as a command-line arg.

I was just wondering if there was a way with, using VB.net, be able to create a program to detect when a message is received in Windows Live Messenger, and alert the user?Essentially, MSN is minimized in background and our program, Program A, is also running in backgroung.Friend X sends us a message, the MSN icon blinks as usualy, but also a window pops up and shows the name of the user and the message.I was just wondering if there was a way to connect to MSN in some fom to be able to do this?

There is newer code in a follow up post. I suggest using the code in the later post rather than the code in this one. You can still read this post though. When designing a user interface, one should be conscious of how many individual controls are required to implement the functionality. In some cases an initial design may begin with many buttons or textboxes (for example) but then further review of
the actual required functionality allows for a reduction in the number of unique controls.
But other times, there isn't a better way (which will still make sense to the user of the application) then to have a series of many repeated controls. So in the cases where one can be certain that the best UI implementation for an application will require the use of multiple copies of a given control, then it often becomes necessary to maintain some method of managing all of those controls at various points
throughout the application. Doing so typically requires that one build up some collection of controls which can then be accessed by index in order to work with any given control; but this can lead to a lot of clutter in the code file which handles these control's events. For instance there will be some kind of collection declaration, some recursive routine to find all of the controls of interest, and then any number of event handler methods with long lists of Handles clauses, or additional code loops to wire up the event handling for each control.
Purpose Since most of this functionality could be considered a requirement regardless of the type of control being managed, or its required functionality, it may make sense to wrap all of the control management functionality into a single class. And since our first requirement is a collection of controls, then a base collection class could be the perfect starting point for our control manager. There are a number of existing thread around this topic, with some recent (at the time of this writing) ones being:[URL]..In this, and related, threads I have posted examples of a simple TextBoxManager and ButtonManager control. But again, with so much similar functionality required regardless of the control being managed, it would be technically possible to create a generic ControlManager(Of T As Control) class which can manage any type of control.

So in summary, one can facilitate managing a large number of user interface controls by building a "control manager" class which both encapsulates the list of control instances, and deals with adding and removing defined event handlers for every control it manages. The generic control manager class itself can be inherited and extended into a more specific class on a per-application basis in order to provide more application-specific functionality. I'm trying to find a way to have text that would be "Live" as in if a user types an incorrect phrase/letter in a text box, a message will appear prior to a "save" button being pressed. It's pretty much the same as when you're registering on these forums, it checks the availabilty of the username as you type it.

I have some custom user controls in my .net winforms program that do not display correctly when the user has selected larger text size. This setting:

The bill to area and ship to area are both custom controls. I don't know if this is contributing to the problem but I do have code in each to scale the phone/fax areas to stretch nicely, like this code from the bill to control,

How can I get my controls to size correctly while still respecting the users choice for larger text (I don't want to just set the AutoScaleMode to None)? After playing with this for a long time it seems to be a problem with anchors in the child controls. See this below image, the inner black box is the control with its border turned on, the text boxes (like name) are anchored left and right and should stretch to fill the control, but don't.

I have a listbox of items that need to be processed, and I would like to process them asynchronously on a separate thread. (Never done this before).So I created a Delegate, a Callback, called the method that does the work on the listbox items.
I am getting an exception "System.InvalidOperationException": Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'ListBoxBlah' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
Doing the asynchronous operation for individual items doesn't make sense to me because I am only doing it to perhaps perform a large number of operations (the listbox may have 20000 items) in the background while allowing the user to do other stuff.

In my project i have moving picturebox array & if they intersect treeview will disable.& when i rightclick on the picturebox it will delete.After deleting picturebox its effects still there.When other picturebox moving on that deleted area still treeview is disabled.i used this code.

I often see code snippets for handling each control of a certain type on a form or panel, etc.They always start with For Each ctrl and the do a test for control type.Many .NET users are not aware, as I was not until I tried it recently, that we can LINQ on the controls collection.Below is a simple sub I created for resetting every checkbox on a panel I use as a validator.

I want to make a database of all the xbox live arcade arcade games on the xbox live marketplace, I need to parse an xml file and add the needed data from the xml node into a datagridview.Here is the xml file i need to use to grab links and other data about the game:

Being the noob I am it took me about 6 hours to figure out how xml works and to write some code for what i need to do.
Here is what i came up with:

So what would the second be ?Also another question i have is how do i put an image in an imagecolumn by a web link, not a local picture.

I've run in to a very annoying situation. At the moment I have a program with 4 forms. 3 of these forms work fine, but the fourth seems to be a dud. After clicking any one of the buttons or controls on this form it works. But if I try to click anything again, it doesn't work. I can't use my back buttons, I can't even use the minimize, maximize and exit buttons in the top right corner which are automatically built in to the program. I fear I have accidentally changed a setting, or accidentally deleted some very crucial code for this

I am trying to learn how to create Windows Forms custom controls in VB.Net by creating a .Net version of an old control I created in VB6. When I change the ForeColor on the control in my test project, lblCaption does change to the color I selected; however, when I run the application, the label changes back to the default (button highlight) color, and the value of the property is also reverted back when I return to the form designer.What would be the proper way to implement the ForeColor property on a custom control?

I am using Visual Basic Express 2010.
I have programmatically set up a Datagrid and binding navigator etc., but I cannot get the movenext, movelast buttons to actually hook up to the Data on the Datagrid.
I have tried to set up an addhandler for the BindingNavigatorMoveLastcontrol, and although I can get the BindingNavigatorMoveLastcontrol to display my messagebox
WHICH IT DISPLAYS TWICE FOR SOME REASON I cannot get it to actually move around the Dataset, or any of the other navigation properties for that matter.

I have used delegates multiple times over the years but for some reason this very simple code isn't working:Form has one button and on textbox. Simply trying to update the textbox from another thread and although it looks fine it's not working.[code] the parameter is being passed to the DoSomething, the UpdateTextboxText is being run and gets the correct string. But the textbox itself remains blank and I'm stumped.

I'm trying to make a program which uses drag & drop functionality, however, it only works when I drop something onto the form, not the controls. If I do try on the controls, I just get the 'Unavailable' cursor.
The AllowDrop property is set in the properties bar, and I also set it when the form loads.

I have made a form that consists of textboxes nested in groupboxes nested in tabpages. So, I've created a form that allows for the user to save his or her settings after closing it. When using Visual Basics to run the program, there is no problem and it works wonders.Here is the problem.When I run the program not in Visual Basics, when I go to open the form, it fails. At first, it was because I didn't update the configuration file to include the new settings. Which was dumb, of course, but I updated the file and made sure to put it with the program.
