I am having trouble using keydown for the spacebar in a form.I would like the spacebar to start/stop a StopWatch that I have running. I can get that to work fine but whenever I am focused on another button it also executes that buttons function also.I know that is the default behavior for the enter key and spacebar but I would like to override that.
I need to detect shift + arrow key in blank form. But it's not working. I also tried overriding IsInputKey method but it only detects single key press (like arrow key) but when multiple key are pressed it simply doesn't work.
Private Sub Form1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles MyBase.KeyDown If e.Control Then MessageBox.Show("aaaa") End If End Sub
As you can see, my form will check for when the control key is pressed down. But it doesn't work. Why?
I want to know how to do a keydown at form level. If I am not using Form Level the right way, this is what I mean. In my Form there is nothing.I want it so when the user presses a key that it will msgbox() something. As I said, there is nothing on the form what so ever No ComboBox, Button, nothing.
I don't know why it doens't send a valid spacebar to MSN, Not to a person but to the mainpage. It does work with Notepad. The point of this is that it should send a real spacebar using notepad to the program which isnt focused.
I want to able to hold a key down while the application is loading and depending on which is being held down a certain form is shown. For example holding down shift and the opening itunes opens a little dialog allowing you set the library(or something)I can check whether the shift/Ctrl/Alt are being held down but i'd prefer to use the letters/digits.Such as hold 1 down to open Form1 and hold 2 down to open form 2.
I'm using VB.NET (2008) and .NET framework 3.5. In my application I've got an on screen button that, when pressed, sends "00" as the characters [via SendKeys.Send("00")]. I also have a keyboard that has a '00' key that sends "00", two zeros, when pressed. I'm picking up the keypress using the form's KeyDown event - it fires twice, once for each "0" and works whether the on-screen or keyboard '00' is pressed. There's also a singe '0' on-screen button and key on the keyboard that sends "0".
I want to be able to treat the "00" as a single event. I.E. in the KeyDown handler, if the character is a single zero "0", I would like to check the next character to see if it is also a zero "0". If it is then I can handle it appropriately, but also need to remove it (from the keyboard buffer?) so that it doesn't fire the second KeyDown event. If it's not a zero then it should be left to fire the next event in the normal fashion.
Ive been trying to figure out how to sendmessage VK_Space. i found an example and just tried it how it was, but i always get an error. My code
Public Class Form1 Private Declare Function PostMessage Lib "user32" Alias "PostMessageA" (ByVal hwnd As IntPtr, ByVal wMsg As IntPtr, ByVal wParam As Long, ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As IntPtr
When I put the command in the form_keyDown event that if I pressed the Ctrl+s, run the some instruction, when the focus in the one textbox control, run one beep sound Simultaneously with the instruction.
I am running a small vb.net program to run an application and then send a SPACEBAR input to that application to initiate a command. This is the code I have so far:
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[Code]....
I checked online and still haven't found a concrete answer on this. Also, I would like to start it on a timer and when the application finishes with the command, close it.
How can I continue processing in a vb.net console application until I press a key? I basically want to loop playing a beep every half second until the user presses any key. I have the loop and beeping down:
Do Until <key is pressed> Console.Beep() Sleep(500) Loop
The question is, how do I implement the "<key is pressed>" condition?
While creating test in vb.net i found it pretty annoying when you start typing and autocompleet changes a class to something similar looking even it is a class you don't want. Image to illustrate : In the picture you can see I am trying to setup a controller (this controller does not exist at the moment) so when i press the spacebar i will get DienstControllerFacts. How do you disable this sort of auto-correction?
Is it possible to set focus on the keydown event so after the button control, sets the focus into the keydown? although says often control can have focus,.Putting a button and a keydown event on a form...
when I added a textbox to my form, my keydown events no longer work. It seems impossible to get the blinking cursor out of the textbox so as to avoid targeting it. How do I retain keydown events when a textbox is added to the form?
up to now I've have been running my bullets on automatic fire, through 4 separate timers. My Nxt major task is to make my space bar shoot bullets. I have tried attempting to code the spacebar, for the first bullet. I was thinking that when the spacebar is pressed it turns on a timer, thus the bullet is fired. Then when the bullet hits the top of the screen or an alien the timer is turned off and bullet location is reset. Now the bullet1 no longer fires.I find the logic complicated but it should work.
my variables: Code: Public BulletMovement As System.Drawing.Point
I am creating an Excel add-in written in VB.NET. I would like to bind KeyDown and KeyUp events to the spreadsheet to record when the user presses and releases the arrow keys while navigating the spreadsheetIdeally, these events would be built into Excel alongside the native SheetActivate and SheetSelectionChange events, for example. Alas, they are not.
Basically, for my first VB project, I am creating a virtual keyboard where a sound is played from the resources on KeyDown. So far, the program seems to work except for the fact that each key needs to be clicked by the mouse before the sound is played by pressing each key (hence put the object in focus), where I need the key to play the sound without clicking the keyboard key (put the object in focus on KeyDown). Below is an example of my code:
Private Sub C_KeyDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As PreviewKeyDownEventArgs) Handles C.PreviewKeyDown ' C is the label attached to the first 'Rectangle' (Key) If (e.KeyCode = Keys.A) Then 'The A key should activate the C key on the keyboard
[code]....
I have KeyPreview set to 'True' under the form's properties.
Private Sub TxtLname_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles TxtLname.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = Keys.Enter Then If IsNumeric(TxtLname.Text) Then[code]....
when I replace the keys.enter with "keys.tab" it won't work..
Private Sub TxtLname_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles TxtLname.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = Keys.tab Then If IsNumeric(TxtLname.Text) Then[code].....
I'm building a slot machine, and I'm having some trouble.re's the
'Pulls down the slot If e.KeyCode = Keys.Space Then PictureBox2.Focus()
[code]....
When I debug and click space down, my picture box of the knob slides on down to 175, pauses, and shoots back up. The problem I'm running into, is that it doesn't do anything if I try to pull the knob down again. It doesn't bug out or anything, but it just doesn't do it again
my child form is a game that allows user to move using keydown event (arrow key left and right). But when i import it to MDI, keydown event doesn't work anymore. Am i missing something here?
how to use the keydown event soif you press 'A' a messagebox will popup saying you pressed A else it will say This function is not reconised i am hoping to use this knowlage to start a game so that if you press W the image will go up.
Is it possible to use the KeyDown on a picturebox? What I want is that when somebody presses the SPACEBAR the cursor has to change in the Hand-icon...and additionally do some operations when moving over the picturebox. I fact...when spacebar hasn't been pressed you can just move around the picturebox, without anything happening...with the spacebar pressed the cursor should change and you should be able to scroll the image using the mouse moving.
what I have is :
'in my global sub that loads everything, not the Main.Load, because he has to check some stuff in advance AddHandler ACO_graph.PreviewKeyDown, AddressOf Me.ACO_graph_PreviewKeyDown AddHandler ACO_graph.KeyDown, AddressOf Me.ACO_graph_KeyDown
