View 2 RepliesI been playing around with some code I found on internet and I am probably almost where I need to be. Using the printdocument I am able to get the active form in my project to print. That works fine. MY nextr issue was to get the form to print so that it is Black & white. No shading etc.. So I found a routine on internet that will take image and turn to B&W. Problem: IF a text box fields background color is too dark then the entire box shows up in black. If a text box field data is Selected it also is too dark and comes out white.her is code I found for turnign to B&W

I've been testing an application I'm working on in Windows 7, Vista and XP. If I'm using XP then I get a couple of solid black blocks after the items listed in the ListBox. They are absent when running the same application in Vista or 7. I have the enable application framework checkbox unchecked. I haven't tried changing that to see if it makes a difference.
View 7 RepliesBasically, if you go to Start and click Computer and then click on the Network link on the left hand side, you'll notice on the right hand side several categories, one of which is titled "Network Infrustructure", in that category, my router is listed, and in my case, it is "LINKSYS WAG160N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway" and when you right-click and select properties, it lists basic info such as internal/gateway IP address, on mine it is "192.168.1.1" I would like to know how to retreive this information in code, preferably a Windows API so that i can call it using a legacy VB6 app. Also, even if you just know a .NET version or a Delphi version, please do list that as well as i can code in both. However, the answer i'm ultimately seeking is a method to access this via VB6 so that would probably be a WinAPI call (will upvote & select this as answer), however, other methods are also welcome incase i can't find a legacy method (i will upvote these).

I would like to update some fields in access using visual basic(2005).
I established the connection with the DB(access 2000) and when I run the program I edit the fields on DataGridView.
Then I click on the update button and when I access again my DB I don't see any changes... :s
Code from my updateButton:
Me.TableTableAdapter.Update(Me.TestDataSet1.table)
I dont have any problem with the conection to the DB and when I run the program I see all the fields from the DB(it has 2 fields).
I have to read in certain fields from one XML file and compare that to another similar XML file to see if something changed. Is it an API, or a method?
View 8 RepliesI am using the following code to get all my database fields, I would like to convert one of the fields to Cdbl, not sure how to do that
Dim comm As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("Select * From " & Me.OpenFileDialog1.SafeFileName & " Where Status <> 'S'", con)
I know how to individually do it field by field but i dont want to have to write a select for each field if that makes sense?
Dim comm2 As New OleDbCommand("Select Cdbl([Selling Price]) as SoldPrice, Status From " & Me.OpenFileDialog1.SafeFileName & " Where Status = 'S'", con)
So something that pulls ALL fields and converts one

View 3 RepliesI am having some fields in ms-access database. I want the label and textbox control to be placed dynamically from those fields. For eg: I am having 2 fields in database UserName and FirstName. So during run time, 2 labels and 2 textboxes must be placed on the form, and with the caption as lblUserName & lblFirstName and txtFirstName & txtUserName. So after i enter text in that, with a button click event those are added to the database? How to do this?
View 1 RepliesI am using VS 2005 and MsAccess 2003. I am already having some fields in the table, and i want to add more fields from the .NET application. Is it possible to add more fields from the application to the Ms-Access Database. Also it is possible to change the order of the fields from the application?

I have created an windows application which stores it data in a database. What I would like to know is how do I access the tables in the dataqbase and transfer the data in them into textboxes on the forms in my application. I can connect to the database and view the tables, but I have'nt got any idea how to get the data from the fields in the tables into the appropriate textboes on the application forms.
View 2 RepliesI have a table with a Real datatype field. I just can't multiply it with other integer fields although the editor doesn't show any error - the result is always '1'.

View 9 RepliesI'm currently refactoring an old Visual Basic DLL (VB.Net), which stores all of its data in one module called Globaldefinitions as public fields. There are about 200 fields, referenced thousands of times all around the code:
Public Module Globaldefinitons
Public a As Short
...
Public zz10 As Double
[Code]...
I need to change the module into a class with non-shared fields. This means, each and every of these thousands of references needs to reference the instance of that class:
globalDefinitionsInstance.a = 5
How do I go about this efficiently?
Regular expressions operating on the source fall flat. Refactoring tools like Re-Sharper or CodeRush don't seem to offer this functionality. Visual Studio 2010 cannot do it automatically either.
Class Foo
ReadOnly name As String
Public Sub New(name As String, dependentUpon As Foo)
Me.name = name
[code]....
The output of New Bar() is:
Dependent created. Dependent upon nothing.
Independent created. Dependent upon nothing.
It seems fields are initialized in the same order as they appear in the source code, which (a) leads to an unexpected result, and (b) seems a little puzzling, given that one is normally not permitted to read from uninitialized variables in .NET, yet that seems to be working fine above.I would've expected VB.NET to be smart enough to initialize referenced fields first, and only then those that reference it; i.e. I'd have liked to see this output instead:
Independent created. Dependent upon nothing.
Dependent created. Dependent upon Independent.
how to get VB.NET to behave like that instead, without simply having to swap the declaration order of dependent and independent inside class Bar?
I'm trying to create a table in Word using data from a table in Access. There are four fields in the access table that I need. 3 fields are text which I can populate the Word without any issues. However the fourth field is a memo with >255 characters.I'm struggling to come up with the proper code to allow me to populate the Word field with the memo data that has more than 255 characters. The code I have so far is listed below. But when it hits the memo field, it crashes on the line I marked with **. I know it's not text, but I've tried many different field types, but nothing has worked so far.[code]...
View 1 RepliesMy intent is to have the code - on a button.click event - check the Username and Password fields and return an error depending on which is wrong. Or if both are wrong, return a different error message. I've set the username as parts and the password as parts (still learning how to use external authentication). [Code]

View 5 Repliesi have created some shareware applications. I implemented the following mechanism for piracy protection. Before Windows Vista and Windows 7 i did write a dll file to the System32 folder with an encrypted license key. Also in the Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE i inserted a registry key.
The problem is that with Windows Vista and Windows 7 due to the User Account Control (UAC) this is denied.
I want to ask : what other mechanism can be implemented ? Where should i store the encrypted key file and the registry key.
I want that the application can be installed for all users of a computer only once.
If i stored the key in the user's application data directory then another user could easily just install it under another user account. Also i do not want to put the key file in the application directory because that would be too obvious.
note that i create the registry key with my application and not with the installer.
I have several sqldatasources for my gridview. All of the columns are autogenerated. However they all have some consistent fields and I'd like to make those fields template fields so I can modify the edit template for them such as adding a drop down menu. Is this possible?
View 1 Repliesexperience on how to create an engine using C# (VB.NET is okay too) that is generic enough to handle most cases of MS Word text fields I need to fill with data I'm getting from a database? In short, I'm about to embark on this little Office automation excursion and I'm hoping a little bit of feedback here.
View 2 RepliesI have come across to develop an application for Windows 7.My program has one setting file and one LogFiles folder under the same folder as EXE. User will change some setting from Program and the values will update in this file. If there is an error, error detail will log in Logfiles/ todaydate.txt file.(Later I discovered/learnt that I should not edit/write the files to Program Files/sub folders.)So, now I'm trying to move these two files to another location. After searching a few on Net and I got the following result.[code]When I make Setup project for my application, I have to put the Setting file under one of these location. And what I found was, I only has a choice of "User's Application Data Folder" which is equivalent to My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.CurrentUserApplicationData.If i put Setting.ini file under this folder in Setup project, it gave me an warning of "File 'Setting.ini' should not be installed into a User's Profile folder because it may not be available to all users."
