I have one project created with VB 6.0. Step to reproduced this issue,
1. Start Internet explorer and add the site "[url]" to trusted site. now set protected mode check box to Off for the trusted site zone.
2. Open the Visual Basic 6.0 and created standard Exe project.
3. From Tools -> references add "Microsoft Internet Controls".

i have a button and a text box so far, ooh ahh, when i push the button the text boxs text is set to the contents of a word document via the my.computer.filesystem.readalltext(file directory as string) method, because i dont want other people screwing with the document i have password protected the word document with the password eragon, so for those who are slow thinkers, not that you are that means i know the password to the doc. the problem is that because the doc. is password protected my program just shows four odd symbols, what code do i need to add to make my program auto unlock the file.

I am selecting a directory and then I want to loop through the files and check which xls and which docs are password protected and drop their names into column A in excel. I haven't gotten to the part of inserting into excel yet.I am trying to figure out how to check for password protected. I don't want to have to open each file separately.I am currently testing with excel, in a test directory i have one password protected xls and the other one is open. When i run my app both of them give me the message that they are password protected.I am not trying to crack password here...i am trying to enter the file names of the password protected xls and then remove them from the directory.

I'm using VB.net 2005. I want to open a Word doc from either the VB app. It can either shown on the form or in Word itself. Either way is fine. I tried using the WebBrowser control method, but it had the annoying "Open or Save" dialog that pops up and I don't want the users to get that. So now I am trying by opening up Word uses the sample code I found below. The problem is I want the users to ONLY be able to READ the doc. No Editing, Printing, or Saving. How Do I remove the Menubars, tool bars, and anything else that would allow them to print or save. Even if they tried to edit it would then do them no good without print or save.

I am getting the error on the above underlined statement saying that Protected Readonly Property InnerChannel is not accessible in this context because it is declared asa Protected.As far as i think,if i declare a property in class as 'Protected' then if this class is inherited by 'another' class then i can use this property and it should not throw an error.

This excerpt of code is using the NXOpen API. In the NXOpen API, the MultiTextBox class is public. However, when I compile the code I get the message:
'NXOpen.UIStyler.MultiTextBox.Protected Sub New(ptr As System.IntPtr)' is not accessible >in this context because it is 'Protected'
My question is, how am I getting an error about protected scope? Could it also be that the API documentation is incorrect?

i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.

I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.

I have been trying to use vb2008 to automatically update CustomDocumentProperties fields that I have set up within a pro-forma document. I can load the Word application and word document without problems.I want to update the CustomDocumentProperties fields with data read from a dB. To do this I am assuming that I need to iterate through the CustomDocumentProperties fields within the word document and when one is "found" that matches the data I wish to merge then assign the dB value to the field.The problem is that I am getting an exception error when I try to reference the document customdocumentproperties

I'm working on a design project where I have to use a Graphical User Interface that contains a drag and drop form. It consists of having a window dropped on a wall. Both of them are images to scale. I was wondering if I could elicit some tips on how to procede with an interface design approach.That is. What is a good way to go about establishing a "work area" where one can have multiple "floating forms" in this area.Can you have a form which occupies the entire windows desk top and the other forms "float" in this space? the "floating" forms would need to interact with each other where pressing buttons etc on them would affect other forms on the "workspace") Or what would be a good way to start accomplishing that? Or is there a better way to get the same effect?

I'm trying to make a .dll that contains a lot of basic functionality that a program can use. Currently i am trying to use interfaces to make a lot of this functionallity independend of the program using it but i hit a snag. The Basic idea is that a programmer will create his own object using the interface discribed in my .DLL file. Then implements those functions as he likes. He can then instanciate a controller (found in the same DLL) and sends his custom object implementing the interface to that Controller. The controller can then be started and will take over all the work. I do not know what type of object is send to the controller and idealy i want to program it in such a fashion that i shouldn't care as long as the object send implements that interface.In code I am trying to achieve the following: (quite simplyfied)

this propperly. I know that the second i set the interface adaptor in the Controller VS comes nagging that it can not be converted to a "MyInterface" Class. Obviously i am doing something wrong. I can change the datatype that the controller expects to the "MyController" type but that would completely ruin the whole idea of flexibillity. I am hoping someone sees what i am trying to do and can point out where i made the thinking error.

in the codebase i'm maintaining there is an old interface. Let's call it IFoo. It pretty much became obsolete and replaced with the Interface INewFoo with a change a few weeks ago, but for backwards-compatibility purposes, i wrote a wrapper class which implements INewFoo and takes an IFoo in the constructor.To clarify, consider the following code.

For both interfaces, the implementations are loaded by scanning a few assemblies with StructureMap. Now, let's get to the bad things. Most implementations for the old interface were put into forms for reason i can neither understand nor change. Because those tend to be displayed and disposed, i have to create a new instance every time i use ObjectFactory.GetAllInstances(Of IFoo). Thats still no problem, but i'd like to register a INewFoo-Wrapper for each registered implementation of IFoo, so that i can just use ObjectFactory.GetAllInstances(of INewFoo) and get all implementations of IFoo AND INewFoo.I can't iterate through the implementations of IFoo and register a wrapper for each one because as far as i can see, you can just register those with instances.Wrong code below:

Basically in visual basic 6 I could access word tables in existing templates with the code owordactivedoc.tables(1).select() where owordactivedoc refers to the active word document and tables(1) refers to the first table in the template.Trying the same code in VB 2003 just leads to errors. Secondly how do I access bookmarks or alternatively word variables.Furthermore how do one deploy web.services. For example the current program I am building is for another computer. Simply copying the web service to Inetpubwwwroot dont work because it is not picked up by the Internet Information Services program. I have to create the web service in vb2003 on the other computer change msconfig manually. Copy and paste the existing service vb file in the created folder replacing the empty vb file.

We have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

I have been trying to figure out how to read paragraph content which exists a heading. The heading itself is part of the table of contents. The heading will have a particular style (say Heading 1). For example: "Introduction" is a entry in Table of content with style Heading 1. I want to read content under heading "Introduction" but not any more content (i.e not content under sub headings of Introduction) I have been trying to do this using styles/style, TableofContent, Paragraphs/Paragraph,Range.
