I've bound a lot of controls on a form to a Entity. Some of them update fine, the others are just jumping back to their original value as soon as it loses focus.The old data are loaded in all controls perfectly.

I have an asp.net web forms application. In this application, students upload assignments and submit a survey along with it. For the survey, I read values from DB and dynamically generate ASP.NET Controls like radiobuttonlist, checkboxlist, textbox on the form during gridview's RowDataBound Event. I cannot do it in Page_Init method because I create only if a user click on a specific assignment which requires a survey to be submitted.
When I submit the survey form, the survey values are not saved into database. During debugging I figured it out that the values are not available in the codebehind page. The radiobuttonlist.selectedvalue returns and I get following error[code]....
I am looking for some information on how to properly implement data binding on a user created control. My UserControl contains a Textbox, a Button, and a MonthCalendar. I am able to databind to the Textbox inside of my user control, however, I want to implement the databinding on the UserControl itself, and not reference to textbox inside the control. I have a tabcontrol and two tab pages on the tab control. There are some fields on the tab pages which are databound to access database table which are populated using dataadapter. There is functionality to calculate total of the fields on both the tab pages when I click a button. When I load the form the record is retrieved and all the fields are populated with data. when I click the button without navigating to the second tab page then the total is calculated only for the fields that are on the front (first) tab page. It does not include the fields on the second tab page in calculations. When I navigate on the second tab page and then hit the button then the calculations are correct.
I saw that, for the controls on the second tab page, databinding does not happen until I navigate to the tab page. When I navigate to the second tab page then only the controls get the data. And this makes the difference in calculations when I just load the data and hit the button. It thus takes only the fields from the first tab page in calculation as the fields on the second tab pages are still not populated with data. I want the fields on the second tab page also to get populated with data as soon as the data is loaded and not when I actully navigate to the tab page.
I have a form with several databound controls. Certain users will be able to change the data in these fields. Is there a way to check whether the data in any databound control has changed? I would like to do this so that I can enable an UPDATE button and flag a warning to the user that they must save their changes.
View 9 RepliesI have a databound combobox that displays a list of items, and I have a windows form that opens after clicking a button that allows me to make changes to the table that the combobox gets it's values from. When I make the changes and save them (successfully) and return to the parent window, the changes aren't reflected in the combobox. If I exit the app and launch it again the changes are reflected perfectly. I've tried me.combobox.refresh() on the forms GotFocus event, but no luck.

Running my app I can enter text in the new textbox and if I save or move from the current row the text shows in the grid. But...after refreshing the grid or restarting the application, the text is no longer there.

I created table named "tb_sale" using ms access 2007, it has 5 columns (date, product, qty, price, total)
I created a listview which has same columns with tb_sale (date, product, qty, price, total) Then, I dragged a datagrid (tb_saledatagridview) from tb_sale to the form, hoping i can insert multiple records from listview to tb_saledatagridview.
I manage to insert record from listview to unbound datagrid, but not for bound datagrid. code that I can use to insert and save data from the listview to tb_saledatagridview.
lets say I have a form (form1) with lables a-z which are all designed with default text "0". So they all show 0 on program startup. which is fine. I also have a dialog with 2 TextBoxes; I want my program to update the default text/value on (only)form1 labels x, y and z to whatever was put into the textboxes when i press the OK button on the Dialog, so these specified labels show the 'new' value on next startup. Is it even possible or should I save the values to a file which loads the values in the specified labels on startup?

I want to check some values in a sql db without populating controls. I can select the row i want, but for some reason my mind then hits a blank, maybe its because its monday.I want to check a few bit fields in the row and if 1 - do something, if 0 do something else. I'd like to see how others might handle this scenario and perhaps provide some comments on this particular solution for handling null values. I have run into a situation where my application requires data from an ancillary source that cannot be altered/changed, which of course means dealing with poor database architecture and implementation! In this case, my app is running into errors when attempting to set some form controls (textbox) to values from a single ADO.NET DataRow. Perhaps I should be handling this when attempting to set the controls? Not sure, but here is the current way this is done:
