I have a List(of String). For example: {"C1", "C12", "C10", "C1", "C6", "C22", "C1", "C6"}. I am trying to write a function to give me a list of duplicates: {"C1", "C6"} in the list. Each duplicate will be listed only once. The function I wrote does give me anything back at all. I can't figure out why. how to translate that syntax into VB.net since I am not up to speed on LINQ yet. It is here: How to get duplicate items from a list using LINQ?

I have a List object and I want to remove the duplicated items but leaving at least one of the duplicated items in the list;I wrote something like this however I would optimize this code for better performance, is there something faster?

My visual studio 2005 has been running great up till now The menu items in the menu toolbar display exactly as follows:File File Edit Edit View View File File Edit Edit View View Tools Tools Tools Tools Window Window Community Community Help Help Window Window Community Community Help Help
Error List is displayed as follows:(I've excluded the icons)0 Errors 0 Errors 0 Warnings 0 Warnings 0 Messages 0 Messages The standard toolbar images are also displayed in 'duplicate'
This is before I open a project and visual studio is on the start page. The 'duplicates' do not go away even when a project is open.When project is open, Solution explorer displays duplicate images as well
I've tried all the following but still cannot get it to display normally. Restored my computer to a time when it was working ok. Full scan on my computer with AVG premium which includes spyware etc (No viruses , etc found) All software is updated fully

I'm designing a web page with two dropdownlists, one for the Make of a car, the other for the Model, both bound to a database with separate SQLDataSources, and using a distinct statement. I add "All" at the top of both by setting appendDataBoundItems = true and adding items named all. Then when I fill the Make with a querystring all the model items get added twice (but only the databound items).
Here's my code:

I have a VB.NET project with XHEO licensing(to license a product) and for that I am using <projetname>.PLSK file which was added to the my solution. When I tried create a new .plsk instead of existing one I got a error while building. The error is like this.
"The item "objRelease<projectname>.plsk" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.
I am sure there is only one plsk file and when I tried to build with previous .plsk file got the same error. Where is that resource parameter are stored. How to delete that?

I was generously guided by the community to use LINQ to find duplicates on my listboxes the last time around. However, I am now in a tough spot because I need to find and remove duplicates from a multicolumn list view. I tried using LINQ but it says that the listview object is not "queryable". Visual Basic 2008 rookie question. I am getting the error message 'Error 1 The item "objDebugCIT163Lab1Cdrb.WeatherReport.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. How would one go about checking a listbox's items for duplicates? Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:
If teams(i).name is not in lstTeams.Items Then
lstTeams.Items.Add(teams(i).name)
End If
I have a program that compiles and works so far, except for the above problem and my alphabetical order (which I can probably figure out on my own:

This works except that my listbox is filled with the team every player is in rather than just listing all possible teams. Not exactly looking for someone to just give me the answer, as I understand things best when figuring them out on my own, so I suppose a hint is what I'm really after.

The problem is: I have a list of objects, with some containing the same PlanId property value. I want to only grab the first occurrence of those and ignore the next object with that PlanId. The root problem is a View in the database, but it's tied in everywhere and I don't know if changing it will break a ton of stuff nearing a deadline.
So, if I have a list of PlanObjects like such.
Plan1.PlanId = 1
Plan2.PlanId = 1
Plan3.PlanId = 2
Plan4.PlanId = 3
Plan5.PlanId = 4
Plan6.PlanId = 4
I want to take a sub-list from that with LINQ (italics mean an item is not included)
Plan1.PlanId = 1
Plan2.PlanId = 1
Plan3.PlanId = 2
Plan4.PlanId = 3
Plan5.PlanId = 4
Plan6.PlanId = 4
For my needs, it doesn't matter which one is taken first. The Id is used to update a datsbase record.

I have a list of 100,000 urls in list(Of string) which can contain urls in the form.[URL]..i have tried using a combination of regex and the Uri class, but that didn't help, so i dumped the code. i also tried using this code, but it will only remove duplicatse of exact form, since its not domain specific.
list = new ArrayList<T>(new HashSet<T>(list))
How filter these duplicates and keep just one of these url if it contains the same name e.g yahoo.
all URL are of different domains, but can usually have duplicates like the example i gave above
also, am using .net 2.0, so i can't use linq

Basically what happens is each time it loops through it adds a number to the end of the string, and by the end I should end up with an array full of string in a format like "111 222 333 444 555 666" but I end up getting strings like this "111 111 222 222 333 333". The weird thing is, if I add a message box in every loop it works fine, but obviously I don't want a message box pooping up every time it loops through. What is causing this and how might I fix it

I'm looping all the properties in an object via reflection:

how to determine whether the property in question is a generic List(Of T)? If it is I need to loop the list itself.
I've experimented with GetType and TypeOf but have not managed to get anything working.
To clarify, I want to keep this generic. I do not want to specify the type of T, I need to loop the list items and call the ToString method on each item. T could be one of a number of different types (application specific reference types). Is it possible to do this without specifying types?
(VB.NET 2005 with .Net 2.0)

This program is supposed to allow the user to check items in a checked list box. If the item is checked, it goes into the Completed List Box on the right. The program then adds the unchecked items to the Pending list box on the left. I keep getting placement values (e.g. O,1,2) instead of the strings (e.g. "Key Returned") in the list box results (see photo attached)

Another program I am working on for fun, I am basically shuffling a list inside a listbox, what I want to do is delete the rest but not sure how to go through with that. At the moment I have this: [code] Just contains the code, declarations outside weren't included.So anyway, once clicked, it will call on the function to basically shuffle in a for loop, I was wondering if I should (or how should) create another function and call it in the click button or have just a loop in the click button so it deletes half the list. What I am doing is I have 20 list of items, I want the program to shuffle the items and then deleting the lower 10, meaning, if I had 10 items and wanted 5 top, I'd want: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and deleting 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

I have an error panel that is subbed in to a page if an error goes wrong to gracefully handle and display errors.Currently, I am just appending the error messages to a string and pushing that to a label. I have a List(Of MyObj), and I want to iterate through that list and compare each element to all other elements in the same list, excluding (if possible) the same element. I have a solution that works, but it's slow and uses double For loops. It may possibly have also summoned Cthulhu from his sleep. This below is a sanitized version of what I have:

I want to know how to test the 1st list box if it has items more than the other list box but by one item, here is what i have: If lstInvisibleTv. Items.Count > lstInvisiblePc.Items.Count Then it works good if the lstInvisibleTv list box is greater than the other list box by one but it also works if it is greater the other one by one or more which I do not want. I want it to work just by one.

I got an error when I tried to open the designer for one of my forms in Visual Basic 2010 express and I had the option to ignore it so I clicked that (which I regret doing so much) and now my form is erased,but I still have the code for it.I tried right clicking and selecting show designer but it just brings up a blank form. I had a datagrid control called "DataGrid1" and when i tried adding a new control to the blank form it says that "DataGrid1" already exists but it doesn't.So after I resolved the first 85 errors I got one more that doesn't make sense:
