In a datagridview, how do i allow user to select more than one row? so if theres 5 rows and user can click on any number of rows and they stay highlighted and if he click on them again it unhighlights them.

View 12 RepliesI have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.

I've got code to allow the user to import an image to the document they have opened, however right now, the image displays at it's default size, and well, if it's a large image, the document stretches and looks like crap. i want to allow user to select or find access database file when the software is executed/opened for the first time. after user selects the file and as he clicks open the software shows the full path of the file and then stores it with the provider and datasource in a txt file for future use.
View 3 RepliesMy application needs to be able to be pointed at different SQL Servers and different databases and I would like to provide the end user with a nice method of selecting both the server and database (the app is for use by other IT staff).Ideally, I was thinking of allowing them to browse to the server (with possibly entering credentials or even better, using their Windows credentials as the databases in question should be accessible to the relevant people via their AD account), and then listing the databases on that server allowing them to select one to use.
I would like them to then be able to easily change the server and database whenever necessary.I imagine I would then need to build the connection strings based on what they select but at the moment I have got rather stuck in just trying to create a form with some kind of Server Browser (I've not got as far as a database browser!).Failing some kind of server/database browser options, I would change to some simple text boxes where the user can enter the name of the server and database directly with some kind of connection verification button.

I'm setting up a program where I would like the user to be able to select a state from a combo box. I can not figure out how to allow to select the abbreviation from the drop down list and also allow them to type a letter and it will select the state from the state or just allow them to type the full abbreviation that would match what is already in the list. It is supposed to be in the drop down list style. I would also like to confirm that the user has chosen a state before allowing them to click a submit button but I'm not sure how to go about confirming it.

I am creating a program that requires the user to click a checkbox and then select a date in a Date Time Picker Control. There will be up to 20 entries. I need to know how to take all of the dates entered and display on a different form the latest date selected by the user from all the entries on a form. All the options will be training selected and when the last training item is selected and a date entered I need to be able to output the training completion date which will be the latest date entered in the form.

Ok, so i am trying o make it so that a user can change themes, i have moved all major code to a module so it can be accessed but then i have a problem.
I have 6 forms, all forms are the same just different themes, The problem is that in the module it calls form1, like for example form1.webbrowser.blah.blah, if i user used form3 for there theme then this dones not work as in the module it calls form1.
Basically i need to add something else there like for example:
dim Cform as string
Cform = form1
Cform.webbrowser.blah.blah
But form1 can not be a string
I currently have a few comboboxes in my project that on the 'Dropdown' event, I have them show items from a database that I have bound to the Combobox, I have tried this on several other events too with the same result.The problem i'm having is when the user clicks the dropdown but doesn't select anything, it automatically defaults the first item in the combobox although nothing was ever really selected so what I want is the combobox to remain blank UNTIL they click on an item in the dropdown, is there a way to avoid this? Is there some code I can place in the combobox's selected indexchange to prevent the first item in the list from appearing unless it was actually physically clicked?

I have an application that has a timer. Every hour, the application will see what time it is. If it is after 5 P.M., then the application will shut the computer off. (For power saving purposes)I have a messagebox pop up warning the user. I want the user to be able to hit "Cancel" on a dialog box if he/she is still working on the computer and reset the timer to ask again in about an hour.
