Server And Then The Server Converts That Word File To A .TIF And Sends The Image Back?
Feb 25, 2011I have a client/server application set up that the client sends a word file to the server and then the server converts that word file to a .TIF and sends the image back.The stuff I have now works.Say if I sent the size of the file and the actual file byte() to the server back to back, would the NetworkStream contain both back to back? This what I though would happen. So I implemented a kind of 'turn' based interaction during the duration of the conversion process.

Everything is working fine expect when error is returned by Drop statement. If Drop statement returns error then whole transaction is rolledback. I do not want tthis. I want to continue even if Drop fails keeping the other DML statements that were executed before Drop.

C# - Thread Start In Form1() Crashing Program On Windows Server 2008
May 12, 2011I'm getting a really strange error. I have a program that needs to run a thread on startup, and for some reason when I do myThread.Start() in Form1() it will crash with "program is not working" (But only on Windows Server, not on my local machine!). However, if I put the same code under button1_Start() it works no problem. What gives?
EDIT A little extra information: In my thread I have a line of code that uses invoke

And for some reason the crashing goes away after I make the thread sleep for 2 seconds before it starts executing. Am I using the right method to execute code on the app startup?

Aug 23, 2011I'm using an Entity Framework context, and sometimes would like to create a transaction so that the client can do multiple changes and then commit/rollback them all together.However, if many changes were made, and SaveChanges() was called multiple times, after which a rollback is called, entities that were commited already, will remain the way they were commited, and would not roll back.Here's how my transaction-relative functions look like:

Not only does the test fail, but it also leave the ObjectContext in an unstable mode, because it still has invalid changes in it.

Jan 18, 2009I have a code for a tic-tac-toe game, where there's basically 3 private subs. There's a sub called "userturn" that handles the button clicks on the board. The next sub is "compturn" which controls where the computer moves. The last one is "checkforwin" which does what it says.
Here's my problem:
At the end of the "userturn" sub, I have a line that says, "compturn()" to tell it to go to the compturn sub. That sub is executed correctly, but when I try to add the line, "userturn()" to go back to the userturn sub, I get this error[code]...

Oct 26, 2011I made a simple TCP server (I've found the example on the web) in VB to receive data from about 40 TCP clients.The clients are not synchronized but sends data about every 18 minutes; the problem is sometimes several clients sends data at the same moment, so I can't receive data.I also made a second program that reads the data (server program writes data on a file, read from the second program) scheduled.
My question is this: I've seen on the web examples about Multithreaded Server Socket Program, so I suppose this could manage my 40 clients (but now the clients are syncronized and send data at the same time in client mode) or is better get data (I have a central client that asks data to all 40 devices in server mode)?
Second question: can I make a single program where I run both TCP client and TCP server at the same time?

Here is a quick example- I made a little program that gives you general information about your computer, when you click a button it sets the text box to specific information. One of the text boxes gives you the Version of your OS. I would like to know if there is a way to send the information in that text box back to me when someone clicks it and they are connected to the internet. FYI I would tell the person who clicks it before so that I am not stealing information, plus what is there to steal from a simple program I made.

Jun 20, 2012I am currently working on a program that has several buttons in it lined up. Each button goes to different applications (.exe programs). The program I am making is suppose to be a fullscreen program and won't let you see any of Windows when it's running.
Therefore I want to make a "back" button that always stays on top of any application and when I push it it will take me back to my WindowsForm (startpage of the program).I am also wondering if you can make it so all .exe programs only can run ONCE. So if I press one of the buttons saying "open notepad" I want it to work so it can't open Notepad once again making it two notepads open. Just go back to the first Notepad opened.

Sep 27, 2009I have a program that requires a string. The string is 20 characters long. The string also have to be split into 2 words the first word is 12 characters and the second is 8. If the strings is not 20 characters long I get an error. I wanted to know how can I get the program to start back over and let me enter another 2 more words if the string is not 20 characters long. At the moment after I get the string is not 20 characters long error it continues to read the rest of the program but I want it to stop after an error and let me start over from the beginning.
