I am building for a football team can enter their points and it will display points and total points and a final Score.the message box opens and you enter the point and the point then suppose to go into the listbox. I can't to get the points to go in the list box and calculate the final score.

I working on a scoreboard application for class that would control a scoreboard like you would see at a football game. My problem is that I'm not sure exactly how to work with timers. I would like a timer to start at either 15 or 12 minutes and count down the quarter. I'd like to be able to pause the timer, have it count up in case I need to add time to the clock.

I spend my spare time trying to create a football game in VB.NET. I have a save game file saved using serialization which I am using to test code. This file contains all the elements of gameplay (stored plays, games, options, etc...) I create this file in the software itself using the code I created; I put a lot of work into this save game file and I would like to continue using it.
However, I discovered I need to add a couple member variables to the class from which the saved object is derived (object is called m_League, class is ClLeague). Any time I've altered ClLeague my old saved games don't load anymore because the new m_League object does not match the old m_League object. I have to start a new game and create m_League from scratch which wastes a lot of time.
This must pop up in with the professionals out there who write patches for software and need the users old saved files to continue working. Is there any trick to this situation or do I have to just accept it?
So we are just starting to learn about list boxes in vb1. In this program the user enters up to 10 scores and after each input (decInputScore) the total score so far has to be calculates (decTotalScore) and then of course when all the scores are entered, at the bottom the final score it calculated. (decFinalScore) (decFinal). I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong, I can't get it to calculate the correct total scores after each input, and I'm getting 0 as the final score. I am trying to create a sports scoreboard that has a game clock. (I am very much a noob at programming)I seem to have a problem with the game clock, I know I am sorry, another timer thread. Program Overview: Quiz Show based on answering questions, with A,B,C,D choice answers. If the player answers correctly he moves up the ladder with prizes. If he answers incorrectly his game ends, asking him for his name so he can be added to the scoreboardif the score is high enough. Program should use mysql database or msaccess database to hold the questions. There should be a section with master options protected by a password in which authorized person can update the question database using buttons.Problem: I will manage easily to implement sql database with buttons to add,remove questions , password will be easy too.

Where I work we need to rewrite a bunch of tools for a software package called ArcGIS. These tools were written in VB6, by someone who is a very beginner programmer.We need to transition these to .NET in order to work with a new release of the ArcGIS software due to come out soon. I am having trouble convincing the 'powers that be' that we need to take a new approach to the development of these tools. they are all in a single VB Project, but what I want to do is to break these tools up into seperate projects in either VB or C#, compile dll's, and then use them as needed.....more of a 'modular' approach in my eyes. That way many people can develop many tools at the same time.
Can anyone point me to some weblinks or articles on how to properly develop in a team environment so I can try to convince the powers that be that we need to change the way we are doing things.

I have VS2005 Team Edition Database Professional installed on my laptop along with VS Team Edition Database Pro, not a problem so far. When I installed the VS2008 we were using SQL Server 2005 as your databases so when asked to the database for database projects I selected my SQL 2005 installation. Now we have moved some of your databases (all new projects) to SQL 2008. When I try and create a Database Schema compare I get an error on Field types (we decided to use Date data type for one field instead of DateTime). I have since installed SQL 2008 Express so that I can create the projects in the 2008 version of SQL Server.

The application I want to make is what I would call quite simple, you will have two text boxes where you enter in two team names.
i.e.
Team 1 v Team 2
Then below a little search button. And then when you click the button it will show a percentage of whom is most likely to win. Now I know that I would have to most likely enter something like
Team 1 v Team 2 WIN Team 1
Team 1 v Team 3 LOSS Team 1
Team 1 v Team 4 WIN Team 1
In some kind of script for this to work so when you search for

View 4 RepliesIm currently writing an application for our call center to use and would like it to have messaging functionality so that team leaders can send a message to the individuals whilst they are on the phone.
I have used a couple of tutorials around the web, but they differ to what i actually require. They all seem based around the whole "client must connect first" thing, is this really necessary? I just need each user to be a "server" constanly listening to any message recieve on a specific port, and display it in a popup when one is.
At the moment the code i have sort of works, but its a bit flakey and doesnt handle the initial connection/final disconnect very well.

I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
I have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.
