i am developing an application in VB.net implies some datagridview operations. the appl contains one DGVW with columns fixed programatically, one such column is Datagridviewcheckbox column. the datasource for dgvw is bounded by a datatable. the user needs to enter the values in the GUI.
supposing the user enters the 2x2 matrix values, and the user checked the checkbox last cell in the dgvw. The problem - the last cell value is not updating inside. if ii debug through code, the "cell(2,2).value" reurns null value whereas the rest of them returns the value what i entered.
if i clicked the mouse some where in the dgvw after entering the last cell value, then it is returning the exact value as expected.

I have a bound datagridview that contains a column that stores how many hours an employee has worked in a day. That column gets summed up using an expression and then displayed in a label. I have another column that contains checkboxes. When the user checks a checkbox, the hours in that row should be subtracted from the total in the label. How can I accomplish this?

I have a form with 2 datagridviews on it, each connected to to table in a database: dgv1 and dgv2.
- Dgv1 has a column called "Senders" and a column called "Recievers".
- Dgv2 has a column called "Recievers"(this is a master list of recievers) and a checkbox column in it.
Basically, when you click a checkbox in dgv2, it copies the name corresponding to it(from "Recievers"), to the "Recievers" column in dgv1.What i want to happen is, when the user selects a name from the "Senders" column in dgv1, it should automatically search the "Recievers" column (also in dgv1) for names(each name is on another line in the cell), based on the "Recievers" columnin dgv2, and if it's in the cell, it should check the checkboxs corresponding to the name in dgv2.
I'm afraid this is a very simple question, but I can't figure it out... I hardly ever use the DataGridView (usually use a third party grid) so I never needed to do this before.Anyway, I have a DataGridView that is data-bound to a List(Of SomeClass). The grid is not ReadOnly, but I made every column ReadOnly except the very first, which is a boolean column so it displays a checkbox. This way, the user cannot edit any cell value, but he can check/uncheck the checkbox in the first column.
What I need now basically is an event that is raised when the user (not programmatically) changes the value of this checkbox. I also need to be able to retrieve the bound item from that event (from the row number I think?) but that should be no problem, I hope.Anyway, there's a bunch of events that looked promising but all have something I don't want:
1. CellBeginEdit - Fires before the checkbox value has changed, so can't use this.
2. CellEndEdit - Only fires after the edited row loses focus. I want to save it back to the database as soon as the user changes the checkbox value!
3. CellValueChanged - Same problem as nr 2.
I'm sure it must be possible for me to react as soon as the user changes the value of the checkbox? How can I do this?
Basically I am looking for if I click on my checkbox, it should reset my datagrid column lastseqno to 0. Is it possible?

View 1 RepliesI have a FormView bound to a SqlDataSource on my page. One of the controls on the FormView is a DropDownList, which gets populated on Page_Load (it's being populated with a list of file names from a specific folder).
Everything goes well when the page first loads. I am able to view the list of files, select one and, upon hitting the "save" button, store the correct filename in the database. However, when the page refreshes after the post back - the DropDownList is empty.

On PageOne.aspx, I have a link to another page: http:[url].....
On PageTwo.aspx, I have an link to the following:

The /MyFiles/ directory is actually a virtual directory which points to a file server that holds many other files (PDF, jpeg, doc, etc.).When I navigate to PageTwo.aspx from PageOne.aspx, I can click "back" and still get to PageOne.aspx (my browser history is ok). When I click on the link on PageTwo.aspx, the PDF opens in the same window...then I can click "back" to get back to PageTwo.aspx, but I can't click "back" again to get to PageOne.aspx (it seems like my browser history has been reduced by one page).
I can only imagine that this happens because of the virtual directory since I can't duplicate this problem if the PDF resides on the same server as my .aspx pages. If that is the case, does anyone know how to get around this and still have my PDF reside on the file server (virtual directory)?
I am using ASP.NET. I am not sure what you will call this but I would like text to be displayed in my text box called txtName. So when the form load the text box will have faded text that will say "Required". Then when the user click inside the text box i want the user to place a value inside the text box. Is this possible in ASP.NET? If so, how can this be done????

Got streamreader and writer and My Namespace understood as far as text files go. Now I'm trying to get all my textboxes in tabcontrol tabpage1 to be cleared of text thru the For Each loop.
I've tried various ways and keep getting invalidcastexception error. I even changed the tabcontrol and tabpage modifiers to public. That did not work either.

I thought the code would not only clear all textboxes on tabpage1 but on all the tabpages. The help tells me that "When casting from a number, the value must be a number less than infinity and to make sure the source type is convertible to the destination type. I have three tabpages and that is definitly less than infinity. The source type and destination type puzzle me a bit.
Here is what I got using intellisense, however it not only clears the textboxes of text on tabpage1, but it clears the labels and buttons of text too so it is not a perfect solution.

View 1 Repliesurl...I've got a drop down inside an update panel, and I am trying to get it to allow the person using the page to add users to a list that is bound to a gridview. The list is a global variable, and on page_load I set that to the gridview's datasource and databind it. However, anytime I click the 'add a user' button, or the button to remove the user from the list. It appears like it is doing a full post back even though all these elements are inside the update Panel.[code]Now I thought the point of an update panel was to be able to update things inside of it without doing a full post_back and reloading the page. So if that's the case, why is it calling page_load everytime I click the buttons? I ran this code and debug and I see that even before any of the code associated with button press fires, page_load runs again.I tried putting the gvAssociatedUser.Datasource = associatedFaculty and the line below inside the Page.IsPostBack check, that prevented the page from working. I tried every combination of settings of the update panel for ChildrenAsTriggers and UpdateMode, and none of them worked.
I've tried won't get it to work.It wasn't causing a full postback so I was wrong as to the cause. I thought the page was doing a full post back thus resetting my associatedFaculty list global variable, but it isn't doing a full postback.The issue I am having is everytime I click btnAddUser it will add one element to the associatedFaculty list and thus bound to gvAssociatedusers. This works the first time, but the second time I click it, it overwrites the first element. So it appears like my associated Faculty list is getting reset each time I click the button?
