I have a button that when clicked, creates an instance of a new form and assigns a value to .tag. I have the following code:
Private Sub btnNew_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnNew.Click
If Me.Tag = "NBI" Then
Dim NBIForm As New frmNewNBI
I want my vb.net dll to get the data sent from c++ project(exe). Can any body help on in what form this void pointer can be sent via pipe. The void pointer corresponds to enums or structures. I have to get this structures/enums on the vb.net dll end. I have mentioned about using pipe. My question is as what type the pointed to data can be send over the pipe so that I can easily handle the received data at the vb.net dll end.
I'm using SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 with .NET Framework 3.5. I'm teaching myself and this my first time posting a question here. And I was wondering if someone could clarify something for me.I've created a table called Classes. One of the columns is called Enrolled and is of data type tinyint (0 to 255) since the class will never have more than 50 students enrolled. In my application I created an object called ClassInfo and declared a private variable ..private _classAmt as byteMy question is this..What if someone wants a total of students enrolled for that year? Do I need to convert to a larger data type such as int32 or would it be better to set the data type as Integer in t
When this grabs the current process, the "current" process is the one that called this function, right? I.E., the process that is requesting this information is the current process, correct? For example, if the process that is running this piece of code right now has a pid of 1, the Process object returned by this function will tell me it has a pid of 1, correct? I cannot possibly get any other process, correct?
I am inclined to delve into it in the near future just to get a taste of it. I am looking into converting my single form Chat program to its WPF equivalent. The form that I am currently using have a RichTextbox control in it, I am not sure how WPF works but do I need to design a Richtextbox control using XAML/XML or just the specification on where it should be located?
I've read a lot on this, but am having a hard time thinking through this tonight. (Maybe it's the hydrocodone... just had a root canal. i'm just starting on a class to handle client connections to a TCP server. Here is the code I've written thus far:
[Code]...
Now, on my Socket property, when setting the value, it is required to be ByVal. It is my understanding that the instance in memory is copied, and this new instance is passed to value, and my code sets _Socket to reference this instance in memory. Yes?
If this is true, then I can't see why I would want to use properties for anything but native types. I'd imagine there can be quite a performance hit if copying class instances with lots of members. Also, for this code in particular, I'd imagine a copied socket instance wouldn't really work, but I haven't tested it yet.
When you declare an object 'WithEvents' and then utilize the "Handles" clause at the end of your event methods, how does Visual Basic manage a reference change for the object? In other words, if the withevents var is set to ObjectA, then later I switch it to ObjectB (or nothing), does Visual Basic automatically both remove those handler methods from ObjectA, and attach them to ObjectB? Or do I still have a ObjectA's events being handled behind the scenes?
I ask this because if instead you use AddHandler for an object, and then switch your reference, unless you removed the handler before switching, your original object is still handled (at least I'm pretty sure that's how it works).
If I have a class with a couple of event handlers inside of it which are attached to an object that is defined within the class, am I right in thinking that I don't need to implement IDisposable to remove said handlers, even if I explicitly added the handlers myself? Also, can anyone point me in the direction of an article that explains the scope of when it is needed to remove handlers to avoid memory leaks. (I've tried searching many times but I must be screwing up my search terms.)I have a collection; every time an object is added to that collection, I add a handler to a change event of the object. When I'm done with the collection, do I need to go through each item and remove the handler before setting the reference to null?
I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
Okay, I was doing a lot of research this morning and found what I hope to be a promising example (code and installation file in the zip folder I downloaded). Even though it is from 2005, and I am working with 2010.I had to update/upgrade the entire project to view the code, and... ok, I am just rambling.I know how to set the filters for SaveDialog and OpenDialog (took me a long while to understand, but I now understand it), but when I finish and build the project to host it on CNet Download or somewhere similar.
I have created a porcess that manipulates large volumes of text. I have created a form that has a button that manually starts the process. I have tried to give some feedback that the process is actually progressing through the data by changing the value of text fields on the form. However the text fields do not update on the form until after the process is complete. I had this working in another program but cannot figure out what I am doing different.I use the following code to change the text.[code]
I have a form, with a lot of controls on it, and I make the form to be a mdi-form. When the application begins, the main form will show the mdi form, and maxmizes it.
My question is, the maxmize process of the mdi-form is showing to the user, that's very bad looking. We can see the mdi-form show itself on the screen with it's original size, and then change it's size to mazmize itself. During the process, it look like all the controls on the mdi-form are shining.
I want to hide the maxmize process to be not seen, and make the mdi-form visible AFTER it's Maxmize process. But I don't know how to do this.
I tried this:
Mdi-form.visible=0 in the form_load of the mdi-form, but I don't know where to do the Mdi-form.visible=1. I can't find the event of Maxmize process.
Bit of a Noobie question here, I have a process, for example[code]...
I need to launch the process from within code in a form or module and I want to monitor its progress, for example with a progress bar.
The problem I have is that in order to use a 'progress form' I have to show a form modally, then kick off the process (usually with a button) and allow a cancel option.
I want the form to show then start running automatically without user intervention.
I want to show in my form, something to show the user that the program is working just wrote a Label, but Visual Basic Freeze during the process and the label it can not seen and there is not signal to know that the application is working.
I am working on a program and for some reason when I run it as an executable outside of debug mode, if I run the main subroutine of the program, the process remains in memory after being closed. Even though the form is closed/gone, it will be in the process list and I have to ctl-alt-del to remove it. If I exit right after opening the form without doing anything, it closes like normal. I am closing and disposing everything I can think of, and I've never had this problem before. This is how I am exiting, but the problem also occurs if the user "X's" out.
Me.Close() Application.Exit()
I have a couple web file requests in my program, which is the only thing out of the ordinary (code-wise) for me, don't know if those are the root of the problem. I can't imagine this is the first time this has happened to anyone, but I couldn't find anything helpful with my search terms. Any ideas/common solutions? I can post sections of my code if it will help, but the whole thing is pretty long and I couldn't narrow down any potential problem areas.
What I'm trying to do is show a form while a background process is running. Similar to a progress bar but not a progress bar. We have a form that has an animated gif (customer request) and that's it. no other controls. They want this form to show while the processing in the background is running.
I have made simple application for access database.I have designed my GUI ,with background image and some button given a colours.
When I run my application all controls are not seen at once , rather it takes time to display it on form. When there was initially no background image it was working smooth.
I have searched everywhere, and have not found an answer. I would like to know how to enable your form to detect if a process is started. Something like this:
If Process.Start("Process.exe") Then MsgBox("Process is running") Else MsgBox("Process is not running") End If
I am automating a javascript web form submission process using webbrowser. I would like to use something without a UI but don't think httpresponse etc would do all that is needed. My code works but I think is not designed correctly. I think I should be breaking each step into its own sub or function. In its current state I think every time a page is refreshed/redrawn all the code is running which makes causes endless looping of clicking a link which is on its own destination page. What that means is click the link and the page refreshes with new information but does not navigate to a new page. So the code looks for the link and selects it over and over and over .... This I think needs to be subbed or done as a function instead.
Here's the code. Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'Part 1: Load elogging login page in Form_Load event WebBrowser1.Navigate("[URL]") [Code] .....
I have VB.NET application in which one of the form has IE control in it, the application starts initially with memory size consumed around 9 MBs, but when IE form is launched, the memory consumed rises to 27 MB, and when that form is closed, the memory reduces merely by 3-4 MBs, so why memory allocated to IEFrame is not de-allocated automatically?
I am currently working in a very large solution (120+ projects). Very often, we need to find a particular form in a large desktop application, consisting of hundreds of forms. For example, we might have a requirement to edit some controls on a certain form.We don't know the form name, but we know how to navigate to the form when running the application.
In order to identify a form, we currently try to find some unique text on the form, and then search all the source files for this string. That's not very cool.Instead, I'd like to make a little tool that can identify the source file for a form, or at least the name property of the form object. We can't add code to the solution itself, so we will have to make an external exe.
I'm trying to consolidate my application's dependencies. In this case, I have a console application (MAD - MPEG Audio Decoder) that I want to embed into my application. I've added it as a resource, but how can I reference it as a file? [code]...
I'm trying to automate a product that provides no such automation capability.I've take a cursory look at loading the app in a separate AppDomain, and also, through reflection, executing the Program.Main() to get the app running. I also tried getting the windowhandle from a separately created Process object (which I've learned will not work). If I have a reference to their assembly added to my project so I can reference an instance of "TheirProduct.FormMain", what, if it's possible, is the best way to go about capturing events from that form? What I need to do is to be able to capture a couple events, and perform a few Button.PerformClick() against the form.
I have a form that consists of only a TableLayoutPanel (which fills the entire form) containing a vertical stack of buttons. The resulting app is used in conjunction with another app. What I would like is to have the vb app do something when the mouse enters the form. Unfortunately, all mouse enter/leave events are trapped by the panel or the buttons.
As a quick test I created a form with a tablelayoutpanel (docked to fill the form) containing one button. I added the following code: Private Sub Form1_MouseEnter(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles
