Force A User To Log Back Into To An Application If No Activity Is Detected For X Minutes?
Apr 22, 2010
I would like to try and implement a feature wherby once you have logged into an application (straightforward winforms application) and had your credetials verified the application would then force you to log on again if no activity had been detected in the application for a certain number of minutes. In essence I want to provide some extra security for those occasions when users get up and wander away from their machines for prolonged periods.
I have all the logic for logging into the application, it's just the checking for no activity over a given period and then forcing the user to log back in again that I'm not having much luck with.
sample code of a user's activity log ..where it records the time of login and logout of the user .. and also records the users deleted, created and updated data..
and should i also create a table in the database for activity log?
I'm working on a multi user VB.Net windows application with back end as SQL Server 2008 Express. The SQL Server is installed on the intranet network drive. This is the connection string I will be using. Is this correct?
Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=Q:DatabasePrintDB.mdf;Integrate d Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
I have an application in wich I have included a timer wich close automatically the application when no activity is detected. My problem is that when I make 'some activity' like accesing something, I do not know how can I reset the timer to 0.
I am building a web crawler in .Net which executes approx 500 httpwebrequests at a time. Everything runs fine but the problem arise at some points; Looks like garbage collection thread takes over the whole application pause for a few seconds. Is there anyway that reduce the delay generated by GC.
I have an application that provides a countdown for 60 minutes and I'm currently using the win form timer and it updates some labels and a progressbar. Now I have to change this to be a countdown for 360 minutes. Will the win form timer be sufficient or should I implement a Timers.Timer instead?
I have an asp.net website that is using update panels on the page that i cant get to reload from the server. I have this for the disable page cache on the master page.
When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.
I am using a stop watch to get the elapsed minutes and seconds which will then be displayed to user. How to I go about getting the elapsed time in the following format: 00:00
Datagridview . in cell validated handler and I have the column, row for the cell that I just checked on. If the cell contents are bad, I want to force the cell value to be blank and focus back on that particular cell and try again. The code i've tried simply moves to the next cell in the grid instead of staying where I want it to be. Surely there is a command to focus and put the 'cursor' back in a particular cell. Some sample code I'm working with:
MsgBox( "Invalid Job#, Correct or DIE!") JLgrid.Item(0, Row).Value =
I'm programming a Minesweeper clone in Visual Studio 2010, with VB.NET, as a Windows Form Application, and I'm having trouble with the Game Won and Game Lost forms. When I show those forms, I want the game form to still be visible, so that the player can see where the mines were, but I don't want the game form to be enabled until the Game Won or Game Lost form is closed. Exactly like Windows Minesweeper does when you win or lose.
creating code to force user at runtime to place values in textboxes. This is what I have so far. I want to be able to force the user to have to place a value in the empty textbox and change the backcolor of the textbox back to default color after a value is placed.
HTML Public Sub Subjectvalues() Dim SubjectValues As TextBox() = {Me.subj_ba_txt, Me.subj_bed_txt, Me.subj_dom_txt, Me.subj_gla_txt, Me.subj_levels_txt, Me.subj_lotsize_txt, Me.subj_lp_txt, Me.subj_orglp_txt} Dim tb As TextBox
I've tried searching and haven't found much useful information on this, I know it has to be possible, but I'm not sure how. I've got an application that bi-directionally syncs with an SQL express 2008 server. right now, I've got a hardcoded sa user in my conection string, however one feature that was asked for was to audit every change made by end users into the database. To implement this, I've created a user login and password for each user that is going to use my app (8 of them) on my sql server, however I now need to change the connection string to include each users name in the string. This is what I've got setup so far:
this maybe an easy one for mos of you! I have a windows that is displayed as full screenThe window contains a series of images (movie posters) and the name below it. When you user clicks on a movie poster a new window appears (smaller window) in the middle of the screen.I want to force the user to close close on the small window before procedding. Currently if the user clicks outside the small window the full screen window comes to the front thus hiding the smaller window.
I'm attempting to learn VB in college. My first project is to create a program in Small Basic and then write it in Visual Basic. I'm looking for the equivalent of TextWindow.ReadNumber() from Small Basic in Visual Basic. I want to force the user to input a number not letters. I'm writing this program for the Console. Is this possible? During my testing I entered a word instead of numbers and the program crashed.
I'd like to force a user to make a selection from a combobox.I've tried to test it by Combobox.SelectedText = String.empty as well as another version similar to this but a little different. When I test it, it will tell me that it is still unselected/blank even when I selected something.
I am trying to write a code on auto logoff for an application after certain perioed of time. But not sure how should i start on it. But I got below code, but there is an error (example:
System.Windows.Interop.
System.Windows.Interop is not a member of Windows and System.Windows.Threading is not doesn't contain any public member) and i wonder how should it get fix and merge into my application code
Imports System Imports System.Collections.Generic Imports System.Linq
I have a text box labled QTY, which feeds the QTY column on a datatable. the table then is ran through a function that takes the data and converts it to a string which my production machine can read. My problem is this, and its probably really simple (these problems usually are) how to i force the user to use a specific type of input on the txtbox so they would have to put the QTY in the format of 01 02 03 etc etc, i have it set to default to 00 but i want to force the user to haver to input 2 chars.
I want to create a simple form with 2 buttons, one to end the program and one to log the user off, I have done this successfully and have everything looking and working as it should. However, I want to force the user to pick one of these buttons before using the machine, my idea was to trap the mouse in the form so the only thing the user can do is select a button. My question is how can I do this?
Im creating an application that will take a screenshot of the desktop. Save the photo, Then upload it via FTP, And do it every 2 minutes. I know how you all like to say how i can do it, But can someone provide a code since.
I have written an application for a customer, and the application is run in various locations around the world. The company carefully controls the release of the software to the various buildings where it is being used, and because of this, I have made use of the "Check for updates" feature. The problem I am faced with, is that the folks using this software more often than not answers "NO" when prompted to download and install the latest version of the application. This is unacceptable and ultimately, we'll need to go in and have them manually install the software.
We don't publish updates to the software w/o meaning for them to be necessary, and I find it hard to believe that Microsoft doesn't recognize this sort of thing as being needed when they designed the update procedures. Alas, this seems to be the case.
Is it possible to use the strategy to force an application to update completely every s often to prevent piracy.I mean somenone manage to crack our click once application and make some modification.but inside the application there is some part of the code that make mandatory to update it.in each update all the application is replaced completely in this way the application on the user computer is a clean one and not the cracked one so the checks for seraching for serials numbers are reinstaed is it possibile to use this as technique to prevent piracy?
I have to select checkboxes besed on group column values. If you see below gridview, column 3 (GroupNo) has 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2....etc (this column data is not static, will change based on page index. i.e PageIndex =2 may starts with 7,7,7,8,8,8,8,8,9,9,9 etc).In every sectio/Group User must and should select minimun 2 check boxes. so If user select only one check box we need to show a pop up message as " Please select One more check box in that particular section" If User skips the message and move to next section we have to show the same message. We have to force the user to select more than one checkbox in the same section. Mainly our intention is the check boxes whatever user selected in each section/Group belongs to one Category.
I want to prompt users to save file instead of opening file in application. For example if user click a mp3 file link....mp3 file must not be open in win media player...instead user promoted to download that file.
