IDE :: Multiple Version Intallation In A System Through ClickOnce
Jun 5, 2009
Currently we are working on a desktop applicaiton for which we used ClickOnce deployment.Recently we have released a PROD version as BETA to few selected users. So they have the PROD version installed in their system. Now those users need to test the QA version as well as part of forthcoming releases. How they can have the both versions installed in a single system through ClickOnce? While preparing deployables, is there any configuration to achieve that?I was planning to specify the differenet target directories for different versions. But as per the following discussion it seems there's no way the target directory can be specified url...
i would like to auto check for new version system update when the system is closing. When there is the new version system update, will automatically rename the active exe to FileName.old then copy new version of exe into the folder.
I am developing an application in Vb.Net 2005 and have enabled the installation by clickonce, the update occurs before the application starts. My problem is very simple, the server that contains updates is correctly natted to be available from the outside with a public IP.
The clients who access from an external network connecting without problems, download software and updates. When local clients are connected to the same network of the server (LAN) can not download anything because they try to access the server with the ip public, and the nat does not work . We can not perform operations on the DNS server or hosts file and not even on the router.
I need to figure out if i can use ClickOnce to use more than one distribution server, primary and secondary. I'd like to set as the primary server the public address and the secondary server with internal network ip address.
I'm using a WebBrowser Control and I created a html page that display the Web Browser version.I have IE 8 installed on my Vista and when I run my app WebBrowser that load the script, It's tell IE 7 version? How can I force WebBrowser Control to use the last IE installed?
i think there are errors in the SerialPort DataReceived Handler in .Net 3.5 and .Net 3.5 SP1. is there a way i can control which version of System.IO.Ports my application uses? i am using VB 2008 Express.
I have a VS2010 solution (upgraded) that has two projects, an EXE and a DLL. In both the Target framework versions are 4.0. When one look at the references of the EXE project, one can see that the System.dll (and System.Core.dll and so for) references to the v4 version (the latest); however, in the DLL project the references points to the .Net Framework v2 version. Why is this happening? How can I make all my projects to point to the v4 libraries?
I have some assemblies that were developed using .NET 1.1. These are business layer assemblies that are required for other .NET 1.1 applications to work. I have been developing our new applications using .NET 2.0/3.5. I would just convert the business layer projects over to 2.0 and be done with it, but those old 1.1 applications just won't die.As such, has anyone ever had two different .vbproj files (one a .NET 1.1 project file and the other a .NET 2.0/3.5 project file) that pointed to the same set of files so they could be compiled appropriately?
I want to have a partial class to manage my focus between radtextboxes when a user presses the enter key and I am looking for the telerik interpretation of this line of code tbs(i).KeyDown += New KeyEventHandler(AddressOf textBoxes_KeyDown)?
Partial Public Class MstFileTruck Inherits Form Private tbs() As Telerik.WinControls.UI.RadTextBox Public Sub New()
I'm looking for Version Control software that works with VS 2008 & allows multiple check-outs of a file, merging the changes as each version is checked back in. Obviously this would require manual resolution when two programmers changed the same procedure, but that rarely happens here-what usually happens is we have two (or more) programmers working on different parts of the program that happen to occur in the same file so only one of them can actually do their work at a time. Highly inefficient.
We're currently using Visual Source Safe, by the way. I 'inherited' this so I'm not *absolutely* certain it can't be configured for this, but if so none of the older programmers (in terms of time in this office) know about it. I think they used a home-grown program. Besides, I haven't been able to remember who I heard about it from so remembering that really isn't a help-at least not yet.
I have a web site that I developed on Vista using Vb.net9. It makes a connection to Oracle. for the connection I use System.Data.OracleClient. It works fine on my machine, and our test server, but it does not work on the production server. We installed the Oracle Client 11 on the server. The error is System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7
We've tried, making a console app that opens the connection, connection runs fine, opens, displays a message and all is well there. Then we make a simple web form, put it in the directory of the program, just a button, opens the connection, try..catch, grabs error, same error. The console app was running under an Administrator, web site running under iwam. Is it possible that iwam has a different path?
Does the Express Version support adding multiple soultions (.sln) to a project or is this only available with the Professional version.I see that I can add a DLL as a reference that was built in 2010, but it is not letting me step into it with the debugger (or recompile changes to its source).
I have an desktop application that references several dlls. All are targeted for .Net 3.5, x86. The applicaiton has been deployed for several years and was upgraded from visual studion 2008 to 2010 last year. I have made several changes to the app since then (as recently as last Thursday) with out any issues. Now, everything builds, but when I run the application, I get a type initialiazer error when one of the projects is loaded by the main application.
The error messsage is {"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.":"System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"}.
There were no changes to this project since the last successfuly deployment last week, but today I am getting this error.
I am using VS 2008 with frame work 2.0. On my development machine I am using Oracle 9 as database. When I deploy my application where Oracle 9 is installed it works properly. but it gives error on oracle8 NT installed machine as follow.
"System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater "I can get rid from this error.
i was under the impression that using the System.Data.OracleClient namespace will allow me to deploy my application without having the client machine install any OracleClient software besides the .Net Framework 2.0 which if i'm not mistaken, contains the System.Data.OracleClient.dll.
but after creating a WinForm application and then publishing it thru ClickOnce , i found myself getting this error when running the application on the client machine. is this a normal behavior or did i do something wrong in the process?
I have a simple application, that was working just fine then all of the sudden I open the file and the design pages will not show up and I get the following warnings:
Warning 1 Could not load type 'System.Object' from assembly 'mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' because the parent does not exist. G:ProgramsCONNS v 1.0ConnectionsFrontPage.Designer.vb 149 0
Is there any way to make my programs use a lower version of net.framework other than the newest version 4 that comes with VS2010?I use my programs within a closed network and there isn't an easy way for me to install any software since I'm not the administrator.
able to give me a script that i will be able to grab a file version of an specific file from multiple remote machines. I have a list of machines in Txt file ... i want the script to read the list.. and generate a new file that have the Machine names with File version.
I'm trying to add functionality to my application that will disable buttons and checkboxes depending on what version the OS is when the app is launched. I made a test app to test this but unfortunately I can not get it to work. Here is my code:
'OS Check Dim osValue As Object osValue = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrent Version", "CurrentVersion", "5.2")
[Code]...
*Note - 5.2 is Windows 2003, 6.0 is Vista, 5.1 is Windows XP
I have created a license system for my application with MySql about half a year ago. What it would do is take the serial number and send it to my server if the key was correct it would return a 0 if its wrong the return value would be a 1.The problem was that when the serial number was entered correctly my program would create a "fake file" for example vb.dll in the system. And on run time my program would check for that vb.dll if the file exist it would skip my trial program and run the app as a full version. Half year later i think creating a "fake file" and checking for it on start up is extremely wrong and that's not very good security. How can i check the difference between a full version and unregistered version?
I have a XML file with the latest application version number, I have this loaded into a variable, how can i compare this against the application.info.version to see if it's the latest version??
I want my application to do something special :D.. jks
I just want it to compare assembly version to the file version something like this (btw i also want it if it is the same i want it to enable a button):
Private Sub StartSplash_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load If Assembly Version = File Version Then
[Code].....
so how do i detect Assembly & File version numbers?
How can I make multiple instances of System.IO.Ports.SerialPort and declare them on the fly? I need to monitor multiple RS232 ports based on the EU's selection. EU will select ports e.g. 1,2,6,9,11 and rename them as necessary. Selections will then be stored in a settings file.I would like to declare these at runtime e.g
Com1 is renamed LabelPrinter Dim comLabelPrinter As New System.IO.Ports.SerialPort With comLabelPrinter
[code]....
Or if not, make multiple instances based on the number of ports selected and renamed. The declaration based on the rename would just make it easier to work with but can be committed?
i have a program where the high scores will be saved in a txt file. of course, if the file is already in use, saving the text file won't work. is there an if statement i can do to check if it is in use? or could i check the last access time, and the last modify time and if the modify time happened after the access, i know its closed, and if the access time happened after the last modify time it is still in use?
