So i have a "game", and the login screen for the game is built into a panel. When you click the load button the panel shows up inside the form, and you are able to type in your username and password. what i am trying to do is make it so the user is able to drag that login panel anywhere inside the game form; just to make it a bit more advanced then just a fixed spot.

I have a load of information on my label in a groupbox on the form there is too much information to be seen in one go so i want to use a vertical scrollbar to move the label up and down inside the groupbox so it can be read.
The issue i'm having is:
1: The label covers the bottom edge of the groupbox (looks a little naff) i need it to fall inside the groupbox if possible.
2: Any movement on the vertical scrollbar seems to send the label in one direction only - so how do i work it so that up moves it up and down moves it down?
Should i use a multiline textbox rather than a label and move the carat?
How would you structure a large project with most of the business logic already inside stored procedures?We are moving from classic ASP to ASP.NET (VB) and pretty much all the business logic is inside stored procedures.Getting the logic out of there is pretty much impossible since my boss doesn't want to (too expensive, takes too long, no "real" added value).I was thinking about making a presentation layer made of aspx pages, a business logic / data access layer that would basically get the data and interact with the existing stored procedures and a business entities layer that would be made of classes (for entities and collections) containing the information to interact between those two layers.The reason I wanted to make those layers was to be able to reuse most of the code without duplicating it.

View 9 RepliesI'm replacing a text box with a combo box. I'm doing this since there are a set amount of inputs for this value. I added the combo box and entered in the values.The problem is that I can't seem to get the value that was selected..I tried setting a text box to the contents of the combo box and nothing happened.TextBox1.Text = cbbct.Text..That is what I tried and it didn't work. This really confuses me since I use a combo box to open save files and that works nicely.Also I'd like to use multiple tabs for my program. I made two tabs then cut and paste my text boxes,buttons, etc. onto them. After I did that I could not open a save file and have it populate the text boxes and set the check boxes. Is there anything I should be careful of when moving stuff to a tab or cutting and pasting?

I need to move items between two list boxes, I've never used list boxes before so this is totally new to me and I don't know where to begin, all I know is they work kinda like arrays.
So what I need is to move one or more items, from ListBox1, and move them to ListBox2 and vice versa

I have created a form with a menu-strip containing sub-menus. The sub-menus will open on clicking the menu items but I am willing to display the sub menus on moving the cursor on menu items(mouse-hover). What will be the code for this? Is there any property in menu-strip to display like that?

I have a question about comparing values inside of a List. I have a single list of strings. Inside the list are multiple values. The values are arranged so they can be dumped into a spreadsheet.
Example:

ValueA(0), ValueB(1), ValueC(2) 'These three values are the same as the three values in the 4th "row" below
ValueD(3), ValueE(4), ValueF(5)
ValueG(6), ValueH(7), ValueI(8)
ValueA(9), ValueB(10), ValueC(11) 'These three values are the same as the three values in the 1st "row" above. Since this is a duplicate, I need to add a "count" of value 2 and then delete the values of this row from the List. Etc...
Each line above represents a "row" in a spreadsheet. All three values in each "row" have the potential to be the same. So, I need a way to A) Compare and count all of the common "rows" (using only the first value from each row) and B) If common "rows" occur, I need to delete all but one row from the List. ListOfStrings.Remove ?

I'll have to implement a few things :
-rating systems with 5 stars
-classification of items that are listed inside a table. (e.g. : I want all the people that are older than 20)
-searching inside the whole database (e.g. : I want everything that contains the word "tennis", so, it should give me a table with all the people tha play tennis, than a table with the clubs were people play tennis,...).
-a kind of intellisense (e.g. I add a new person inside the database, and for the field "club", I just want to write the first lettes of the club, and then, I would just have to click on the club to fullfil the field).
I've found plenty of websites that give me a library with some of the things that I need. But, I don't know which one I should choose.
I do need something that is as simple as possible, with examples for razor (I'm using VB.net, but it doesn't matter if it's in c#). If possible, having nothing to install could be great (I know that the Jquery scripts that are installed by default are already great).
I want to make an application that's pretty much all server side. I have everything sorted, apart from downloading images from my server. I have a listbox containing all the game names, in this format.

asteroids
There are many more, that's just an example.
Each game name is stored as a folder on my server. Inside those folders is the games boxart, called boxart.png. What I want to do is make an application that makes those folders and downloads the images. I have made the "create a folder for each game name" code already, now I just need to add another line or two to download the image inside those created folders.

The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.
