Pass Data To Form Created Through ContextMenuStrip
Jan 26, 2011
I have a form that holds dynamically created pictureboxes. I have a ContextMenuStrip that is opened when the user right-clicks an individual picturebox that allows them to change the Tag of that specific image. When they click the "Change Tag" item from the ContextMenuStrip, a new form is brought up allowing them to change the Tag in a Textbox.
My problem is, I can't figure out how to pass the specific picturebox's (that was right-clicked) Tag into the new form so that the user can edit it and set when they click the "set" button. (Named "Button1" below)
Here's what I have so far:
Form 1:
Private Sub ChangeURLToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ChangeURLToolStripMenuItem.Click
Dim myItem As ToolStripMenuItem = DirectCast(sender, ToolStripMenuItem)
trynig to pass data between form in first form [code]the problem is when i select "Yes" next form is not showing .i tried directly to run the last form. but its not added in the startup form list.i am getting error form2 is an type under windowsapplication1 and cannot be used as expression in application design.vb.
I need to pass a reference of a class instance to a new form; the newform obtains data from the user to be added to the class instance. How might I do this? Is there a way to pass it as a parameter via the ShowDialog call?
I am converting some VB6 code which passed an unknown form object to a class, which then used the passed form object to reference the calling form and direct the data from the class as follows: The Called Class in the class clsGetRecord Public Function Execute(ByRef FRMForm as form) as booleanFRMForm.List1.Additem(SomeData)....Execute = SomeBool End Function The clsGetRecord is used by many different forms which receive data all have objects called List1 as: The Calling Form for the form frmThisFormPrivate function() as booleanDim objRecord as new clsGetRecordbRet = objRecord.Execute(frmThisForm) The passed form object which will receive dataEnd function. Is there any simple way to do this since the calling form object is unknown at design time?
I have created an application in which I have to make a report with ReportViewver from Microsoft.Everything ok until now. I have created the report and for this report I have created a dataset. This dataset contains data for every month in every year from 2010 to 2015. With this dataset I am populating a graphic but my problem is that I want to select the year and create graphic for one year.I do not know how to insert a parameter in the dataset. In sql is very easy by in Access is different and if I try to put something like ...' where year_column=@year_parameter' I receive an error.
I am writing an application that is doing a file conversion.I created a new process in order to run an exe and pass it some arguments in order to do the file conversion. I ran this in the Submit button click event.I added an event handler for when the Process had exited and then continued my code, since I had to wait for the file conversion to complete before continuing.
Everything is running fine now up until the point where I am trying to call a FillBy for one of my datasets. My fill by is accepting a parameter UserID and filling it based on the user id, which is selected in a combo box in the program itself.I keep getting exceptions and it immediately exits the program whenever I try and use this fillby method, if I take it out it completes successfully; however, the new row I just inserted was not added.
I tried adding a tryparse for the value selected from the UserID combobox but I get this cross-thread exception, so I have a feeling the 2 are related.
Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others. Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning? Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:
Code: Public Class Form1 Dim clsController1 As New MotionController
[code].....
I'm sure it's probably a very elementary question, but every explanation I've found seems to be incomplete.
How would you add a Dynamic Contextmenustrip to your form and how would you add the items to the contextmenustrip. Also when adding the items to the menustrip is it possible to give them names and text dynamically if so how?
Does anyone know how to pass values from adynamically created gridview checkboxes to a crystal report? Is it possible? I am using asp.net, vb.net and mssql. Here's my grid minus a few boundfields:
<asp:gridview id="grid" runat="server" autogeneratecolumns="False" cellpadding="4" forecolor="#333333" gridlines="None" emptydatatext="No Products registered for this company..."> <RowStyle BackColor="#EFF3FB" />[code]............
in VS 2008, is there a way to design a ContextMenuStrip in a designer without a relation to a specific Form or UserControl class? For example,if you need the same ContextMenuStrip in Form1, Form2 and Form3, in which of them am I to design the ContextMenuStrip? Do I have to add a "pseudo-Form" to the project that contains my shared ContextMenuStrips and create only one instance of that Form, or is there another way? I consider this a programmatic hack, that's why my question is whether the IDE offers something better.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim textbox1 As New TextBox
[Code].....
When this row GroupBox1.Controls.Add(textbox1) and GroupBox control are being deleted from Form, the TextBox isn't created on the Form after the event is fired.
I am trying to click on certain rows in a datagridview and have the information in the rows sent to a textbox. It does not append each row to the textbox though, which is what I want it to do. it just replaces it with the row I click on. What's wrong with my code. I have tried cell click too.
Private Sub dgProducts_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles dgProducts.Click Dim i As Integer
I have 2 forms main_frm and copying_frm. In main_frm, there is a list view that is populated with file names. The user then clicks save and all the files in the list are copied to a folder that they choose using a folder browser dialog. When this happens, I do copying_frm.ShowDialog() to display the copying_frm. The copying_frm contains a progress bar and a cancel button. I can get the progress bar to indicate how much has been copied. But that freezes up the application. To get around this, I create a new thread (called copyingThread) that copies the files. When that thread runs though, it can't access the waitingList_lvw in main_frm. For example, in the function that the copyingThread executes, if I have this line of code: MsgBox(main_frm.waitingList_lvw.Items.Count.ToString()) the result is 0. Also, I don't get any errors and no files are copied. How do I access waitingList_lvw in main_frm from a thread called copyThread that was created in copying_frm?
how to pass value from one form into another form...? for example if i have 1 mdiform and 2 form (form1, and form2) for load form1 i'm using system.reflection.assembly here is the code for load form1 :

[code]....
after form1 load i call form2 from form1 and from form2 i want pass value, here is the code from form2 to pass value into form1 :

I have one form, which the user enters upto 5 websites then clicks go - I have on the second form, the one with the webbrowser. timer which checks if the web browser is busy then either a green light or black image will be shown along side the assocaited input box on the first form. I am finding it impossible to feed variables into the clock through ByVal, like I would a subroutine or function.
how could i pass the value from Independent form to a child form..in my declaration from MDIParent form i declared child form as frmSMRP then in the frmSMRP i have declare one new form as form1
here is my code below.declaring child form under MDIParent form
I need to pass data between a vb6 app and a .net app. This data will either be written or read every second. It is about 30 fields. Both apps reside on the same machine. I am currently passing this data via the registry and it works great but it makes me a little nervous. I would do it with a text file but I am worried about data loss.
I am using VB.NET 2010 I have a project, which has a Main Form.Out of this Main Form, I create/dispose over 100 other Forms (when the user clicks on to a menu). So, there are some design changes, which I want to made by code. - This Changes have to been written in to the Load Event of each form.Is there a possibility to get informed in the main form, when a new Windows is going to be created, and add the code by this routine?
