Apr 1, 2009I have created a project that has an add a new record, edit record and a search form, that has multiple text, combo boxes and is working great.Last nite I have added a checkbox under my add new record form and i am saving the checkbox value to my database, so far so good. I would like to be able to search any record that is mark with a checkbox to show up in my search screen when I do a search: [code] The problem that i am having is that now that I have added the code to my project to search for the checkbox field in the search screen and if I leave everything blank and click on the the search button I get no record found. I expected to see all that data, since I have nothing selected. Now if I click my checkbox, as soon as I click on my search button I see that two records that I have added for my test.

May 5, 2010For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.

I always use the first one. It's more type work but I think it's neater. How about you people and is there any real difference between the two?

Looks good, but I am having a problem calling it from the main project. Here is what I have tried using...

However, it says thatKeyPressEventArgs is a Type and cannot be used as an Expression. I tried 'e' but no go. I am a little ahead of my classes (no pun intended) so I am likely missing something about what I am doing wrong.
I have three comboboxes so I though this would best suit my needs in the interests of writting decent code and not populating each call with repeating code.
VB6 Upgrade To VB 2005 Failure Could Not Find Project File It Created?
May 30, 2006I support applications in VB6 and VB2003, and I'm trying to upgrade the VB6 app to VB2005, so I have three versions of Visual Studio on my pc. I ran VS2005 and opened the VB6 app to launch the upgrade wizard. It seemed to run fine until it threw an error saying it could not find the project it just created. The project I'm trying to upgrade is called MGxFromSAP.vbp. The error said it could not find MGxFromSAP.vbproj. The project file it actually created is called MGxFromSAP.vbproj.vs7.vbproj. When I try to open this project in VS2005 it says it was created in an earlier version of Visual Studio and needs to be upgraded.Did it perhaps invoke the VB2003 upgrade wizard instead of the new one? How would I be able to tell?
Should I just let VS2005 upgrade the vs7 project or should I try to deinstall the old VS2003 upgrade wizard and rerun the upgrade from scratch?

Jul 6, 2011Is there any literature which guides a user through the steps of deploying a vb project created with VS 2010 Professional and incorporating SQL 2008RE Database?
I have a VB project which incorporates 2 databases - 1 Access Db and 1 SQL Db. The project compiles and runs beautifully. However, after adding the databases in the project as existing items and deploying, the project opens/runs, but when I try to login the application I keep getting an error message telling me that the path to the .mdb (Access) database is not a valid path. I don't have a clue what else to do.

Access A Component In Form From A Thread Created In A Different Form?
Jun 18, 2011I have 2 forms main_frm and copying_frm. In main_frm, there is a list view that is populated with file names. The user then clicks save and all the files in the list are copied to a folder that they choose using a folder browser dialog. When this happens, I do copying_frm.ShowDialog() to display the copying_frm. The copying_frm contains a progress bar and a cancel button. I can get the progress bar to indicate how much has been copied. But that freezes up the application. To get around this, I create a new thread (called copyingThread) that copies the files. When that thread runs though, it can't access the waitingList_lvw in main_frm. For example, in the function that the copyingThread executes, if I have this line of code: MsgBox(main_frm.waitingList_lvw.Items.Count.ToString()) the result is 0. Also, I don't get any errors and no files are copied. How do I access waitingList_lvw in main_frm from a thread called copyThread that was created in copying_frm?

Reference Windows Form Project From Another Windows Form Project In Same Solution
Dec 8, 2010I have a solution with several projects most of which are code or control libraries. I have a main windows forms application that references and uses these libraries. What i am trying to do is create a 2nd windows application that extends the main one, but i would like to be able to deploy them as separate exe's.
When i try to add a reference to the new app referencing the main app; all seems fine until i try to run the new app i get several error msgs similar to below:
Error 1 Could not find file 'ADODB.dll' referenced by assembly 'D:Visual Studio 2005ProjectsXXXinDebugXXX.exe.manifest'. <newAppName>
i have tried adding references to all the dll's in the error messages and they are still listed when i try to run the new app. I thought of a few work arounds but they require user changes to maintain separate exe's at deployment. I would like to avoid this if possible.

Nov 20, 2009I am using VS 2008 and I have a solution with multiple projects. I would like to know how to open a form in project B from a Form in project A. The solution starts with the form in project A.I have tried the following and it does not produce the expected behaviour:In Form A I have added a reference to the Project B. The following code is in a form in project A. appraisal is a form in project B.

The above solution works to a degree. As the form is instantiated in Project A, I cannot reference any of the items in the form in Project B as I could if the Form in project B was instatiated through startup.

I thought of doing this to keep each segment of the solution manageble. If something goes seriously wrong in one of the projects it is easier to fix that starting from scratch with the whole solution.I have found numerous suggestions on this topic from "It cannot be done" to suggestions that do not work. The closest that I have come and still does not work is as follows:

Dec 8, 2008I have a form which when button1 is pressed creates and displays a new form. From this form a user has the choice yes or no buttons. Each button has its own handler and script it executes. If yes is clicked i want to run the script and then close both forms. I used me.close() and that only closes the orriginal form and leaves the dynamically created on open. If I place a call to form2.close() in the yes handler sub I get an error that it is not declared. How can i close this second form?
