Dec 3, 2009I have a program that creates an array of part numbers. I also have a database that holds part numbers and all associated information I need for other calculations. How can I search an MSAccess database table against all of the part numbers in the array? The Array will never have more than 100 items in it, the table has over 7000 records to search from. I've posted my nonworking code hoping someone can point me in the tight direction.

What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. Nov 17, 2009I'm trying to put together a quick program for our database, I haven't touched VB since vb6, and we have 2008 .NET now. my question.
Ideally I'd like to make an array which can hold multiple values...such as
Job[job#].joblocation
Job[job#].jobsupervisor
So there would be a Job array, and then different values contained within that. I can't seem to make an object or whatever which allows me to hold different variables inside it.
Save A Byte Array To A Database In Program?
Aug 28, 2009I have a byte array of a file and I need to save it into my database in a field that has been set aside of type image.
However I have a problem my data access class takes a sql string and commits it to the database for example.
"EXECUTE stored proc @parm1, @parm2, @parm3"
However the problem is I cannot figure out how to transfer the byte array to string so that I can add it as an argument.
I hope this make sense.
I also understand that I can build parameters in com objects but I do not want to do this as it will disrupt my whole data access class and I am not prepared to do this at the moment.
Sound From An Array Of Data In Program?
Jun 18, 2010I'm getting data from an external source, storing it in a single array, and I want to turn it into sound, even though it isn't really sound to start with. I don't know how to build sound from data arrays, but I think it shouldn't be that hard. I am hoping someone can show me the secret.
The data get's read from a 12-bit data acquisition card at fifty mega-samples per second, and it normally contains ten distinct frequencies from about one megahertz to about five megahertz with some overtones. So it's very high-frequency stuff to start with, but it should be possible to to scale it down by, say a factor of a thousand (where humans can hear) then put it through a sound generator through VB, so I can hear it. Also, I don't want to export it as a .wav file first. I just want to format it and package it for the sound player, so I can listen to it live, as I play with the external stuff that affects the sampled waveform going into the card.
So, maybe I'd take a sample of a fraction of a millisecond, scale to a sound format, then output it to my speakers. A frame of 32,000 samples, for example is about 0.64 milliseconds of real time, but I could scale that out into quite a long sound. Ya think?

Feb 9, 2010I'm trying to write a program to call Quickbase and retrieve a database and put it into an array. It's a contacts table that I need to be able to query and select different fields according to letterheads, memos, etc. I've tried to do this three different ways.
1.) Find a direct port or some way of accessing Quickbase directly, similar to connecting to an oracle database or MS Access.
2.) Export the table to MS Excel and read the data from a spreadsheet.
3.) Opening a web browser in a background processes and login to the Quickbase account, then navigate using the little XML knowledge that I have.
I just can't find a good way to do this. Any ideas or can give some help on the code to do any of the ideas?

Jun 5, 2010I'm relatively new to the vb.net framework and object oriented programming. After perusing the threads for a few hours I can't quite find an answer so I'm posting this thread. I'm not necessarily looking for code examples. I just want to know if it's possible and where to look next. Basically I'm trying to build a starter application that will help me learn programming. One of the main things I want to do is to be able to dynamically (at run time) create a set of information (data) that can be manipulated via a set of static (and/or dynamic) functions/calculations. The reason I need it to be dynamic is because even though this program is really just for my own fun and perusal on my own machine (and I want it to be able to run without any outside connections (i.e. databases or servers) the data itself is going to be location (i.e.State of residence or even city) specific. Essentially most of the data will be numerical and can be of the integer type. But I'd like to be able to adjust and create new data sets if desired. From everything I've read and researched I haven't found a way to do this (at least now without an excessive amount of coding that is above my expertise). So I want to know if there is a way to do this that is relatively simple.

I place this in text changed event and I have a problem implementing it, because the date conversion will not take place until the data is loaded. The second part works but not the first(Date) part.
I can create a button and use its click event to format the text boxes just fine, however i wanted the text boxes to be formatted on the fly . The problem is no matter where i call the function the date conversion wont work.
