I'm trying to, for example: Have a button control, and a picturebox(?) control. I need to figure out a way to make the Picturebox image the current snapshot of the Button. Is this possible? Should I be using WPF or something?

I have a web browser integrated into a project. the web site uses jquery and runs best with ie9. The WebBrowser control in my vb.net form runs the web page as ie6 and none of the jquery works. Is there a way to tell the control to render with ie9?
View 1 RepliesI'd like to make a custom control that allows the end user to format the text, similar to an HTML or RichText control. The idea is that it will be static like a label, but allow end user to specify certain tags around words to make them bold, italic, underline, hyperlink, etc, either at design time or runtime. My question more specifically is how to best approach this. My intention is to use GDI+ methods, like DrawString, etc. But my concern is the inefficiency of having to parse the text each Paint cycle to determine which tags are present in order to use the correct font style, etc. I'm not really asking HOW to do this, but more of a hint on which architectural approach to take on this. Maybe there is already some examples of this out there?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to create a custom control using vb.net.I have added a image to the user control and the problem I am having is that when I resize the image, the image seems to move as well.I want to be able to resize the user control height without moving the image on the user control.
everytime I resize the user control, it seems to move the image on it as well.Is there a way of leaving the image where it is without moving it as the user control moves?

When the page loads it works fine. (and lots 10 links) on the update panel it hits the same function and tries to get another 10 links. I set the navigationURL to something like
"../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"
It is set identically both times(load and updatepanel postback) but when i try to render it to html the second time (on the update panel) it adds "../" to the front so i end up with
"../../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"

This problem is with the WebBrowser component. The code posted below is what I am trying to insert into the control before it renders the page for the first time. This question actually stems from this post: [URL]. I am developing the application in C#, however the problem is not really language specific.
When I have a page that has a javascript call to:
window.print()
I am wanting to override the print method so that pages do not pop up the print dialog. I can do so by inserting this into the top of the html:
window.print=function emptyMethod() {};
I now just need to figure out how to get this code into the document html before the browser control renders it for the first time. I have tried a number of things (for a complete list, see the post listed above), all with no success.

I have an aspx page that has two different user controls. I want to find user control A and be able to set properties, etc., from user control B.
I was thinking I could do something like this:
Dim CMFilters As Control = Me.Parent.FindControl("CMFilters")
...but that doesnt work to be able to set properties and call methods. I somehow need to get the user control and and declare it as that user control type.

I now realize that it is incorrect because the container's InitializeComponent property initializations have not run yet and they must be run prior to Refresh being called.

I am trying to build a tournament bracket application. In order to build the application efficiently I would like to make a user control "GameControl" that represents a game and give it attributes that represent the names of the competitors "TeamNameA" and "TeamNameB" ,an attribute "Winner" to represent which team should move on, and an attribute "NextRoundGame" that assigns another instance of the user control so that it can assign the "winner" to one of the "TeamName" attributes of the next round in the competition. If the controls were native to VB I feel like I could do it easily (I have only spent about 30 hours self teaching/tutorial following) but I can't seem to find out how to pass values to custom attributes of custom user controls through code.
