Set Namespace Of A Web Service In Configuration Instead Of Code?

View 3 RepliesI am fresher in vb.net but I want to develop a project in this case I want to use the system.Configuration namespace's specific calsses. But I am not clear which class i use and why it's function and it's use.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to set up a .NET 3.5 web service project in Visual Studio. My goal is to include a namespace in this web service that I can expose to web applications that references this web service.I have added the namespace "MyWebservices", but I am not able to find it after referencing the web service.[code]I have also attempted to modify the "Root Namespace" property of the web service project, but I can't get that to work for me either.
View 3 RepliesI have some code that access an API out on the web. One of the API's parameters allows me to let them know that I am testing.I would like to only set this parameter in my code when I am testing. Currently, I just comment the code out when I do a release build. Is there an automatic way of doing this based on the build configuration?

View 7 RepliesCan anyone post some example code for an App.config file that uses a binding redirect with the CodeBase tag and an href attribute that points to a file system location? I can't use a standard binding redirect because it is a 3rd party dll that includes the version number in the dll name.
View 5 RepliesI got the below code from Deborah Kurata one of the msdn moderator on her webpage. Her code is to save the form size at runtime but i would like to modify it to save the buttons which i have dragged and drop. I tried to modify the code but i tend to when i put the Dim theButton = DirectCast(sender, Button) under the form load method. It put there cannot cast object. something like that.
Public Class Form1
Dim tm As New Timer
Dim Index As Integer = 0[code].................
Something like this:
Namespace Test_NS
Partial Class Test_WebSite
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
End Class
End Namespace
Or should I leave it alone and only keep the classes in my App_Code under a Namespace?
I have a set of classes that mimics enums (see my other questions for specific details/examples). For 90% of my project, I can compile everything in at design time. But the remaining 10% is going to need to be editable w/o re-compiling the project in VS 2010. This remaining 10% will be based on a templated version of my Enums class, but will generate code at runtime, based upon data values sourced in from external configuration files.what my Enums class looks like. The templated fields, per that question, will be the MaxEnums Int32, Names String() array, and Values array, plus each shared implementation of the Enums sub-class (which themselves, represent the Enums that I use elsewhere in my code).I'd like to parse values from a simple text file (INI-style) of key/value pairs:
[Section1]
Enum1=enum_one
Enum2=enum_two
Enum3=enum_three
So that the following code would be generated (and compiled) at runtime (comments/supporting code stripped to reduce question size):
Friend Shared ReadOnly MaxEnums As Int32 = 3
Private Shared ReadOnly _Names As String() = New String() _
{"enum_one", "enum_two", "enum_three"}
[code]....
I'm certain this would need to be generated in MSIL code, and I know from reading that the two components to look at are CodeDom and Reflection.Emit, but I was wondering if anyone had working examples (or pointers to working examples) versus really long articles. I'm a hands-on learner, so I have to have example code to play with.
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:

How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
I am currently writing a program in Visual Basic 2008 express edition to read and write to tags on an Omron PLC. I am using the DeviceXPlorer OPC Server V4.1.1.1 program to connect to the Omron PLC. I have made two programs, one is a form program which works fine, two is a windows service program where it does not let me connect to the OPC Server. The connection code is identical, the only difference is the windows service code is called by a timer. The timer works fines and jumps into the connection code, but stops at the line

View 1 RepliesI have 3 components :
1.Manager : dll containing Iterface definition and other things
2.Implementation: dll containing Implementation of the Interface
3.Executable: (maybe this one could be a external application or another dll using the libraries)
I have particular methods (iside the interface dll file) that extract information of real Implementation from AppSettings keys in order to instance it using reflection. I use the Manager inside the Excecutable, but when I try to retrieve a especific key defined in "Manager.dll.config" (appSettings), the value returned is empty because the configuration file used is "Excecutable.exe.config" I need this configuration information in Manager config file because this Manager will be used from other programs and the configuration must be centralized into that config file to replicate the possible changes to every app calling this dll.How can I to specify that the ConfigurarionManager.AppSettings must extract values from manager.dll.config file?
This class is located in the namespace Acme.Infrastructure.Interface.A class with the same name EventArgs exists in the System namespace.In another project in my solution I have a class Acme.BusinessModules.MyModule.MyClass.When attempting to use the EventArgs class I have to fully qualify the class name or the compiler thinks I am using the System.EventArgs class.My understanding of namespace resolution was that the compiler would first look for the class in the current namespace, and then its parents. It seems that the compiler checks in System before it checks in sibling namespaces. Is it correct that System is checked before the sibling? Or is this behaviour caused by other issues (Imports order?)?
View 1 RepliesI'm a rookie in Visual Basics 2008 and i am trying to make a program to communicate and read tags from an Omron PLC. I am trying to connect to the PLC via devicexplorer opc server, because it can let me read DInts and Reals from the PLC tags. I have referenced Microsoft ActiveX Datas Objects 2.5 Library and OPC DA Automation Wrapper 2.02. I have made some code which connects to the PLC "in a form", but I cannot use the same code and connect through as a Windows Service program.Here is my code,
Public Sub OpcConnect(ByRef Items() As String, ByVal PLCType As Integer)
Dim j As Integer
Dim TempSvrHandles As Array[code].....
Note: this code is run in a timer on the windows service, it connects properly to the "RSLinx OPC Server", but "Takebishi. Dxp.1" (devicexplorer shortcut) exits the sub routine at MyServer.Connect(PLCServer) ' connect to the opc server.
I am creating a custom config section that will allow me to manage what ELMAH exceptions I want to ignore from my VB.NET/ASP.NET app. Here's my code. I made it easy to paste in a blank code file if anyone's up to the challenge of diagnosing the problem.

When I execute this code:

I get the error An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for IgnoredExceptionSection: Could not load file or assembly 'WEB' or one of its dependencies..
What boggles my mind is that this all works fine in my C# console test app after I convert the code from VB.NET using a web utility. However, when I paste the VB code from my web app into my VB.NET console test app, it doesn't work there, either, so it appears to be a C#/VB issue. What am I doing wrong here?
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a
generic class and is not marked as
[ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be
exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with

interface as the default interface to COM using the

It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I am getting this error,here is my code.

Is it possible to consume a web service via code and not the normal way? Reason I ask is my app makes a decision on which of two web services it needs to connect to at run time, and I need to be able to do this with changing it at design time.

View 1 RepliesI'm working in VB.Net and I'm trying to make a piece of code more generic.In fact, there's a big Select Case statement that build a ProxyServer based on a value passed in parameter (a string).
Select Case _strNteraHL7
Case Constantes.NomPRPMIN306010
strUrl = ObtenirUrl("ProviderDetailsQuery", _strVersion, _strEnvir, True, _blnSimulCAIS, _blnSimulPDS, _blnSimulPDSSIIR, _blnSimulPDSInteg)

or something similar, so I can remove all those big switch cases, that repeat the same thing 30 times.objWsHL7 being an object or type "object" at compiling.Again, in another switch case statement,
objMsgHL7Out = _objWsHL7.ProviderDetailsQuery(_objMsgIn)
objMsgHL7Out is a System.ServiceModel.Channels.Message
_objMsgIn is a System.ServiceModel.Channels.Message
_objWsHL7 is an Object

What I'm trying to do is monitor a file and if it exists then then copy it's contents to a database, then delete the file. Currently it only adds the data one time and does not delete the file.why it will not keep adding the data or deleting the file?
I did a search on the internet but came up with very limited results. I'm using asp/vb and need to create a n application that does the following steps:
1. User defines web service URLs to WSDL pages .. populated in combo drop down (already coded)
2. User selects web service - Clicks Connect
3. User is prompted for any input fields the web service requests.
4. Output (in XML) is displayed after input fields are populated.
I know how to reference web services in the development environment, and use them... but have no idea how to dynamically create them and show the input fields requested.
I'm currently starting work on my first windows service and I've encountered what I find to be a strange error. For some reason the compiler is telling me that a whole bunch of typical classes (such as Image, Bitmap, Graphics, etc) do not exist. For example, these simple lines of code, which work perfectly in a normal project, return a bunch of errors:
Bitmap b = new Bitmap(destWidth, destHeight); //Error 13 The type or namespace name 'Bitmap' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)b); //Error 17 The type or namespace name 'Image' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Anyone know a good code analysis service or tool for vb.net? Like the one for c# with visual studio 2008 team edition or style cop for c#
Update:I am only using the visual studio pro in my new work place,so I could not use the code analysis for visual studio 2008 team edition
What i want to happen is for the dictionary keys and items to be overwritten each time it is executed, as the data needs to be up to date.
