I have a long UTF8 encoded text string. The actual values stored in the string are hexadecimal. I want to convert the encoding and save to a binary file.
Is there a simple encoding.convert or other method to do this with?
Basically the output is twice as large as it needs to be right now. The long way of doing it would be a routine to go through the string two characters at a time and convert to byte array and then .writeallbytes I guess. It seems there must be a simpler way of converting this?
I am writing an application that must generate a plain Text file with fixed sized columns.my current code is:
Dim MyFilePath As String = Path & FILE_PREFIX & FileNr & ".TXT" IO.File.Delete(MyFilePath) Dim FileStr As New IO.StreamWriter(MyFilePath, False, <ENCODER HERE>)
I am trying to get my program to write a .bat file to run, it writes the file fine but the file wont run properly as it needs to be encoded with ANSI but i don't know how to set it to write that. The code for this part so far:
Private Sub start_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles start.Click If My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(". un un.bat") Then
I have written a program which reads the text from the text file cleans it for some specific letters or phrases and then saves it in another text file. I am having a problem in rewriting the processed or cleaned data (after it has removed some phrases and characters)onto writing the file.
I have successfully written the text on the file except one problem. In each loop when each string is cleaned and is written on the text file, it overwrites the previous string. What I want is that it should write in the next line or in the same line.
My code is given below: Private Sub btnopen_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnopen.Click FileOpen.Title = "Please select the file"
[Code]...
how can I write the text in the new line and avoid overwriting of text in my text file.
I've two Strings which I'm loading from a SQL Server 2008 database (nvarchar-field)After loading them from the database Visual Studio 2010 displays them as follows in the watch window:
str1 = "Test" str2 = "Test"
But the comparison with str1 = str2 returns False If I write those strings to a file with UTF8 Encoding the result is as expected:
Test Test
If I write those strings to a file with ANSI (Default) Encoding the result is NOT as expected:
Where is the Byte 63 in case of ANSI Encoding OR Bytes 239, 187, 191 in case of UTF8 Encoding for str1 coming from?Well, Bytes 239, 187, 191 are the BOM for UTF8. The question here would more likely be: Why do I get the BOM for str1 but not for str2?(Well, the values are values passed to a webservice which inserts them into the database, the initial values are passed to this webservice by a client I've no control over)
Well I basically know how to read a text file, replace text then write to one. how to append text after a specified string (ie, insert text at a specified line, removing the text after a string in a line and changing it without altering other lines, etc). Can someone please tell me how I would go about adding a string after a certain string in a text file? For example:
I'm outputting a number of variables to a text file and each field needs to be in a specific place. For example:I have a string that is varying in length, but will never be more than 5 characters. The string has to end on the 8th character of the line. Is there a way to write the string to ensure that the string ends at a specific place on the line, regardless of the length?
I'm using this code to convert string to ISO8859-1
[code..]
But the problem is when an user writes this caracter:
EXAMPLE:
[code...]
I think that my code is wrong. Because if I send the same string encoded "price+80%2BVAT", Why in VB.NET code not runs and in PHP runs fine? Is the same encoded string.
I am having a problem trying to resolve an apostrophe related issue. I have searched SO,
My clientside javascript code is: var strUserText = uSettings.replace(/'/g, "'")
after the above line is executed, the form does a submit
document.form1.submit(); in code behind, a class retreives those values:
sUserSettings = request.form("strUserSettings ") the result is a semi-truncated string.Given the above code process flow, how can I save "John O'Brady's ASP Blog" in to a database?
I thought I was saving "John O'Brady's ASP Blog" but that isn't working.
i would like to ask is there anyway to read a txt file with UTF-8 encoding using streamreader or filestream. the txt file is contain some extended ASCII that makes me cannot read the characters properly. I hav tried Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes()) but still it return wrong character when it's reading extended ASCII code.
I am sending a DDE message to a client using System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(item) . However, before the message is actually sent, I would like to get the message coded where if the item="Ask" then item=Ask (string variable) and so on. The code is:
Protected Overrides Function OnRequest(ByVal conversation As DdeConversation, ByVal item As String, ByVal format As Integer) As RequestResult ' Return data to the client only if the format is CF_TEXT
i have a task to create ,read, update xml file this file have encoding UTF-16. when i create using vb.net ,i am using xmltextwriter. i cannot find encoding UTF-16. it is only have UTF8,UTF7,UTF32. that's don't have UTF16.that's anyone have clue or link to guide me create, read, update file xml with encoding UTF-16??
Imports System.Xml Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim writer As New XmlTextWriter("product.xml", System.Text.Encoding.UTF8) writer.WriteStartDocument(True)
I am not sending any sensitive or security information in the query string. I am currently using Base64Encoding along with MD5 Hash. I want to shorten my url as far as possible.
I'm using us-English Windows XP system. I want to write a programe to creat a file which encoding is GB2312. I try many ways to perform it,but all failed. All the encoding of the files I created is Western European(Windows). The simply code I paste here:
I used WriteAllText to set the encoding for a text file. When I wrote it, everything worked out fine. However, strange characters or symbols appeared in some ofm y fields without my having typed it. why is this so? The encoding I'm using is UTF8. I used the WriteAllText to write the fields to file but did not use the ReadAllText to bring the data back into the fields or program.
I am getting one problem with xml file after generation. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> some junk characters are coming before <?xml.... tag like above. its happening when i mentioned encoding attribute. here below is my code to set the encoding type.
My questions isn't really about a programming language but, since I did not find a general programming forum, I chose this one as I know VB.Net. There's this game, that you might already know, which is called Star Wars Galaxies (And is ending soon actually .. ). For each account and character, the game automatically saves chat logs in a .cht file. A player can have multiple chat channels that have different chat filters (group chat, public chat, etc) and they are all saved in this file. I'm thinking they are probably separated by some kind of a "flag" for the game to be able to detect them.
I have been working on a project that opens, modifies, then saves an xml file. The problem is that one of the attribute values contains a dash, causing the parser to throw an error when my xml editor application attempts to open the file. I have yet to find a working solution after weeks of searching the web, I tried the the following method for saving the xml file[code]...
if we don't mention the decoding what decoding will they use?I do not think it's System.Text.Encoding.Default. Things work well if I EXPLICITLY put System.Text.Encoding.Default but things go wrong when I live that empty. So this doesn't work well
Dim b = System.IO.File.ReadAllText("test.txt") System.IO.File.WriteAllText("test4.txt", b)
I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.
I am trying the following code using vb.net and have managed to capture the running application values via portmon... look likes below and connects with success:
QUESTION: What is the HyperTerminal Equivalent string value for this Keystroke Sequence: Ctrl-A Shift-V Ctrl-B 02 1234512345 Ctrl-C Ctrl-M The above works great using a windows HyperTerminal window and writes data to the device.
