VS 2005 Isdate Evaluates False For A Good Datetime String

I am writing a program to analyze error logs from an existing application, and I want to consider only lines that have a Date/time stamp at the beginning of each line.( in the format "03/13/08 08:03:58") I am extracting this as a string and want to evaluate it to make sure it is a valid date so I am using "IsDate(Mid$(TextArray(i), 1, 18))". The problem is that IsDate evaluates False even when the string I am passing should be valid (eg. 03/13/08 08:36:59).

I'm reviewing some code in VB.net, and in a validation object they have written the following
If Not IsDate(Entity.SelectedDate) Then
ErrorList.Add(New CValidationError("MainReport", "Please select a weekend date"))
SelectedDate is of type Date. It seems to me it would be impossible to ever hit this condition. Is this true?

I am using MS Visual Studio 2205 Version 8.0.50727.42 and MS.Net Framework Version 2.0.50727 SP2 I created a form that requires the user to enter a date into the textbox.I then use the IsDate function to check if the entry is a valid date. IF Not IsDate(fieldname) then send message back to user on form, otherwise continue.If something like this is enterred - 06/090/10 - It passes the IsDate question and of course fails at the database level when inserting to a datetime field. Although there is a three character day, it still passes.

I am trying to verify that I have a valid subnet mask. I have already verified that the string format 255.255.255.0 or whatever 255.255.240.0 converts to a UInt32 but now I need to make sure its actually a subnet mask.
The bits should be split between 1's for the network part and 0's for the host part. It should start with all 1's and end in all 0's if it goes from 1's to 0's then finds any more 1's its an invalid subnet mask.

My tables sectionName column has an existing value. I want to update its Adviser column but my select count always evaluate to false. I want to check if my table's SectionName column record matches the selected value of my CboSectionName. if there is a match then i'll check if such section has an adviser already. If there is an adviser already, then ask the user if he/she wants to change the adviser of that section. If he/she wants to change/update the adviser then update it else exit. however, if there is no adviser yet then assign an adviser to column adviser from cboAdviser. If no record yet in table's SectionName column then prompt the user that there is no section name yet, then exit. I have been debugging the code below for hours now but I can seem to locate why my sql count always resulted to false. [Code]

i have a checkbox bound to a column with datatype character to my database... the column uses values Y and N.also, just like to add that i have tried changing the column into character of 5 byte so that it can hold the values "True" and "False" when the property bound is the property Checked. this works okay but there are some columns that doesn't use True and False like in my statement above.is there a way that i can set my checkbox to checked when the column value it is bound to is Y and vice versa.. i noticed that in the checkbox inside a datagridview has the properties TrueValue and FalseValue but i dont see this anywhere in the checkbox not in the datagridview.

Is there any cause that this property's value isn't false by default?. When you work with threads, you always require to update user interface from the child thread, I think that may be false is not the default value because of its side effects, wich I don't know.

I needed to make an application that calculates weekly pay of employees at an hourly rate. The overtime schema is that: hours less than or equal to cutoff1 are paid regular rate. hours over cutoff1 but not exceeding cutoff2 are paid 1.5 times regular rate. hours over cutoff2 are paid double time or 2 times regular rate. after slicing and dicing, i got 2 vars with the following values in vb.net:
strTag = "<#<span class=SpellE>vermittler_person_Name</span>>"
tmp = "<#<span class=SpellE>vermittler_person_Name</span>>"
Comparing the vars gives a false:
strTag = tmp ' ==> false
Comparing the values directly right there gives a true:
"<#<span class=SpellE>vermittler_person_Name</span>>" = "<#<span class=SpellE>vermittler_person_Name</span>>" ' ==> true
Both are strings, i tried all kinds of stuff: string.compare, string.equals, also regex etc. etc. everything works perfect with all the other strings with simlilar structure, just not and only not with "vermittler_person_Name" in the middle...

I need to use a select case statement that evaluates PostDiscountCost based on the value 0 to 999.99, 1000.00 to 1499.99, 1500.00 to 2499.99 and one that doesn't fall within the others. The message box's going to be triggered by the vbYes in the confirm exit message box. I want to update the date and time from two separate pickers to my table.My 2 DTPers are bound to a dataset.One is in the Short Format, the other is Time.I have several other bound controls, and I just do a .Update to update my table. I tried just updating the row:

I'm adding a DateTime DataColumn to a DataTable like this:
Dim colDate As DataColumn = New DataColumn("Date")
colDate.DataType = System.Type.GetType("System.DateTime")
dt.Columns.Add(colDate)
Then when I try to add it to my datatable, if the value is Nothing I get an error saying string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. I'm having trouble getting this to work.

Weird problem that just started, I am using an OleDbCommnad to create a dataadapter then fill a table everything from a .csv file, works fine except no dates are coming over? I added a datagrid view to my project just to see and any column that should have a date value is empty. I confirmed that the column is of System.DateTime value so I am at a complete loss?

Previously I converted a string with year, month, day and minutes/seconds using
CDateTime(conYear, conMonth, conDay, conHour, conMinute, conSecond)
This code will no longer work in VB.net and I cannot figure out how to do this with 2005 VS. The string originally is something like "20100310142715" and should be broken down into year, month, day, hour, minute, second.

Although a few people around here have said that Dates are not a huge deal that they're simply data, I always seem to get stuck on them, and my current issue is no exception. I am trying to save/retrieve data between my Access 2003 data and my VB2005 form. I have tried any number of combinations (even the forbidden Value.ToString, and having the Data Type in Access as string, and although it worked fine for saving the data, it doesn't work for loading it back into the form.).
