I'm relatively new to vb.net. I just created an simple Electronic Raffle web application via Visual Studio 2005. It's working just fine since it just basically returns a random winning entry queried from an SQL Server database. However, to make the raffle draw more "dramatic", I would like display random entries before actually displaying the winner. I tried creating a for-loop which displays random numbers before displaying the winning entry but only the end result (winning entry) is displayed.
I even tried to display an animated gif file then hide it again before displaying the winning entry but only the winning entry is displayed when I click on the "Draw Winning Entry" button. Is there a way to set the sequence of events in a web browser such that the program should display the image first then hide it after 5 seconds then display the winning entry afterwards?
I am working on an application with about 50 controls and want to arrange the events so that I can find them easier. There are several events for each control and since they wer all created at different times code for controls is in order by date created.
I want to change the order. Naturally I want to avoid cutting and pasting.
In my program; I need to collect a sequence of events in a variable of some sort. Each time the Sub is initiated, it should add one random event to the sequence (so that it gets longer each time) and then run through the sequence. This is rather difficult to express. What I'm trying to do, is create a Simon Says game with the four buttons. After the sequence goes through blinking the buttons, the program must then be able to capture the sequence of button presses by the user and match that to the sequence that the program ran.So, I need to be able to keep track of two sequences in a variable. Arrays?
Which form events fire when a form is minimized, restored and maximized.I am trying to draw lines on a PictureBox control, but cannot get the draw subroutine to run after the form has been restored from a minimized windowstate.I probably should know this answer, but I have not written much code in the last 4-5 years and am relatively new to vb.netAlso.
Im using VB2005 express and the app im creating uses the web browser control.Basically I want to know if its possible to make the web browser control connect through a different ip address and port from your default web browser.
I have a tabbed web-browser I want to add an event to it to make it so IE doesn't pop up when I click a link, with a normal web-browser that is easy but I guess I have to do a handler with the tabs being part of the browser and all. [Code]
i am making a webbrowser and i have coded over 10,000 lines of code & i am only 11 and self taught .
1) I want to make a popup blocker but my webbrowser is a tab type so it generates the wb controle so how can i get the events of the wb control? because it is not in my form and only is when it's runtime!
I Have Made My Web Browser But i Want to add events for url to display in the bottom left hand corner like IE8 look at the pic below i want to embed this into my Web Browser
I am writing a custom backup program and learning as I go, everything has been fine up to now. When I click a button the following is run:
Private Sub BtnCopyDir_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnCopyDir.Click If My.Computer.FileSystem.DirectoryExists("C:TestDirectory") Then
Is there any limit to the no. of handles assigned to an routine. Well actually my form form has about 80 controls and when ever the user press the enter key, focus must be to the next control. so can I handle all the 80 keydown events in one routine, or is there an better way.
My windows application needs to raise an event in a COM callable assembly so unmanaged code can pick up on the event.I am sick of this. All the crazy tags required for COM callable is doing my head in.
I'm using a com object in my vb net application. I'd imported the com library and everything is fine. But the object does not raise events, None. I need to know if there is some way to achieve that it works.
How should I handle events in this situation I have "Class1" with a "PropertyHasChanged" event. In "Class2" I've declare a Public Member Variable WithEvents of Type Class1.As well, Class2 has the Event "OtherPropertyHasChange".In a Form Class I've declare a Public Member Variable WithEvents of Type Class2.The Form Member has access to the "OtherPropertyChange" Event but not the "PropertyHasChanged" Event.Question is,how do I accesss the Events of Class1 from the Form Class?
is there a form event that occurs before the load event in a winforms application? I have a winform app that can be run in batch mode and I don't want the form to load at all. Otherwise I could just hide it in the form load event but I figured there's probably a better way.
I am trying to create a program, where the user click a button and this will add a custom control and then drag and drop them on the form.
What I want to be able to do is add multiple controls (by clicking this button) and for them all to have the same events. So basically they can add as many as they like of this control and then click on it and drag it anywhere.I know in vb6 there was the use of the control index but I am not sure how to do this in Visual Studio 2005?
i have a datagridview in which i want to know which row is selected by mousedown or keydown.. so in both case i want to use only ONE subroutine which can give e.rowindex , e.colindex value of datagridview...
Example..
Private Sub xyz (s as sender, e as keydownaurguments, m as mousedownaurguments) handles keydown, mousedown '\\ code end sub
I have a user control and a panel on it in Dock fill format. Now this is exposed for the user to add on the form. Till this point fine. Now the user sees lot of events for the user control, which I want to actually link up with the panel on the usercontrol, because that is where I want things to happen . Is there any solution to link up the events in few lines of code than calling each event separately? I am also looking to expose only few events than all the base control events.
I am trying to create a ContextMenuStrip where I add a certain amount of ToolStripMenuItems based on how many columns are in a DataGridView via code. I am wondering, since I am creating all these ToolStripMenuItems in code, how would I handle the "CheckStateChanged" event on all of them separately? Or how can I figure out which one of those ToolStripMenuItems was clicked?
Here's a code example of what I mean:
Private Sub CreateCMS() Dim CMS As New ContextMenuStrip Dim TMS_Main As New ToolStripMenuItem
I am trying to create a program that will do stuff in the web, more specifically, insert usernames and passwords into certain boxes, open e-mails, or click on buttons in webbrowser.
theFolderBrowser.Description = "Please select a folder for the download." theFolderBrowser.ShowNewFolderButton = False theFolderBrowser.RootFolder = System.Environment.SpecialFolder.Desktop theFolderBrowser.SelectedPath = My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.Desktop If theFolderBrowser.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then Me.TextBox1.Text = theFolderBrowser.SelectedPath End If
I added the above code in the button click event and it worked perfectly.I have created a folder in d:movieshorror. Now i want to make the horror folder present in the path mentioned above as the root folder(not the desktop)Then sir what will be the following two
using visual basic... well, its for my project...making a webpage i made a webpage with a drop down list...so when i click on the drop down list and click on the item there, a box will pop out i dont want the browser box to be the standard maximize internet explorer browser size or standard minimize internet explorer browser size...i want it to be in a A9 or A10 paper size the moment I select an item and it pops out...
you must have observed an yellow strip displayed in the web browser for most of the events like 'pop up blocked', 'asking to save the password',etc. i want an same kind of yellow strip to be displayed in my form after the menu and tool strips. That strip must be displayed above the control(if any) which are placed exactly under the tool-strip. I must be able to call it in the same way like we do for the message-box.
What I'm trying to do is make my own contextmenustrip for the web browser control, this menu has two items so far: "Select All" which will select all the text displayed and "Copy" which simply copies whatever text is highlighted or selected. No images are displayed so no need to worry about that.
Also I've noticed that whenever a file is dragged from windows and dropped onto the web browser control on my form, the browser simply displays the file (these are xml files that I'm dropping on the control, on my form) which is not what I want it to do, instead I want to grab the file path & name and use it elsewhere. The browser control doesn't have the DragEnter, DragDrop, DragLeave events like labels, forms, textboxes, etc... how would I handle this?
In vb2005 how do you simulate a web browser's file download using Net.HttpListener? This current program functions somewhat like a webserver. how when a client from a web browser asks for a file do i allow them to down load the file? currently the method will tell the browser that there is a file but it will fail after the client oks the file for download.
I'm making a browser and for the favorites I'm using a reader and writer to read and write new favorite to a .txt file. Now if I edit the text file manually and load up the browser, the favorites show up as they should but the problem comes in when I add the a new favourite and then reload the application. Once reloaded the favorites seem to copy what was originally in the file and then whatever I added last at the bottom.
Here is the Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click WebBrowser1.Navigate(TextBox1.Text) ListBox1.Items.Add(TextBox1.Text) [Code] .....
I'm using the web browser control in vs2005 to show a web page which has flash. somehow, it shows error:"this program requires flash.ocx which is no longer included in this version windows".
I want to launch a browser session from a Windows App to load a specified file using system.diagnostics.process.start("http://www.abc.com/doc1.doc") but I'd also like to specify that there shouldn't be a toolbar etc. on the browser window. Is this possible?
