Is it possible to Create buttons outside of the designer (at run time) but not just create the buttons add there click events e.g in a save menu on a game it creates a "button" with custom code to that button if anyone gets me?

View 8 RepliesI need to create a form with radio buttons, text boxes, labels, etc.. This information needs to be pulled from a database. For instance, I have a form that displays information that needs to be inputed to a database, based on what test is being done for a specific product. Each product requires different tests. So each product may or may not have the same information that needs to be inputed..
What I have done is made a database and filled a table with each product and what tests apply. I then call that database after the product has been selected for the tests. It will then fill an array for that products information for what texts boxes and labels need to be shown. I wanna take this further and have it create a form through code and align all the controls to specific spots so that it will look nice. For example I wouldn't wanna create a control and have it be cut out of the form, or have other controls overlapping others.

I need to know how to have a button on a tab to create another button on a second tab that contains a panel, with appropriate spacing, the same size as other buttons already present, and the name of the tab that generated this new button as the text on the newly created button. I.e. button1 on tab1 will create and place a new button on a panel in tab2 that already has a grid of buttons (maybe 3x10 buttons) which will be placed underneath a particular column with the text tab2 on the new button which can also refer back to that tab automatically. Hopefully we can get all this code under a single button event.
I also don't know how to have a button on tab1 that focuses on tab2, which sets the back button on tab2 with a reference to go back to tab1 in order to remain dynamic. I.e. clicking on tab1's button will go to tab2 and set the back button there with a link back to the tab it was referred from.
I'd also like to know if there's an easy way to create and destroy tabs with a specific layout. I.e. We have home tab, and comment tab. (This is for the sake of argument) On the comment tab1 (which contains all posted comments), we have a new comment button which creates a comment tab2 (or a dialog box for that matter) with appropriate textboxes, labels, and buttons in the right places which could also make use of the issues I posted above. So the new comment button on the comment tab1 will create either a new comment tab2 with appropriate objects, or a dialog box with the same, and then the submit button on this comment tab2 or box will create a new textfield/buttons on the panel containing the grid of buttons with the information provided in the fields from comment tab2/dialog box which is then destroyed.
I hope i haven't made the examples too confusing, but I can't figure out how to even make progress in these directions. Trying either fails completely, or semi-fails in getting these examples to function 100%.
I've already tried posting in other forums, but with no replies. I'm hoping that because these are mainly VB based forums I can find some answers here.
If I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly.But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?

My self and most everyone else on our team is having the same issue with VS2008. The designer will not render many forms in designer mode. Currently I am getting this error "The type 'Team.CAD.UI.My.Resources.Resources' has not property named 'view_16'" Well veiw_16 is in the resouces file.

I am attempting to update an existing winforms application, that was created with a dataset control on all the winforms pages. I have ported it from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and I need to update the database section and connect it to the SQL backend using traditional code method.In the Solution explorer, when I click on the Dataset files, and click "Exclude From project" I am unable to build the project.Is it advisable to comment out the code lines that refer to the dataset in the .designer.vb files?
View 1 RepliesI have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

View 4 RepliesI have been working on an app that was basically a vb6 app but had to be changed and I did it all using VB 2008. works well, great. One of the problems that I had was to work on different groupboxes or frames. Since they are layered on top of each other, working on one frame would mess up the others. Eventually it all went okay. but now if i want to add another item in the menu and hence add another groupbox (or frame) in the same app - it would definitely be a nightmare.

View 7 RepliesHere is what I am doing. I create two buttons in a header row of a gridview that i created. The buttons are +page and -page. When -page is hit I remove the paging and all the data goes down the page and -page disappears and +page is there.
Here comes my issue When I hit +page I must be double postbacking because one row of my data disappears. I will provide the code below. What can i do to fix this??

is it possible to dynamically create radio button options that are dependent on a value within a database? For example 'b' is stored in a field so then 'a' will also be a radio button option, 'd' is stored in a database field so then the other radio button options will be 'a', 'b', 'c'....the radio button list will change depending on the value stored in the database field.

I need to be able save whatever is in the labels and textboxes. Then, I need to be able to open the file and have all values in the labels and textboxes to be restored to wherever they were. What the code does is to create a transparent window over the current one and places the buttons on it, giving the impression of additional buttons on the title bar. The only problem is the buttons look like regular WinForms buttons!how do I read the windows shell style (aka theme) in order to create buttons styled just like those in the Control Box (see image)?

Use the code that i provided at the end of this question to understand the scenario. As far as i know, this behaviour happens only on the myspace.com web site. 1. Navigate to your myspace.com inbox page, read a message and click on the reply button to reply to the message. The page will show correctly in the web browser.2. I am fairly new to programming and vb.net and I am working on a small project but in the project i need a message box (2 different occasions) where the buttons, instead of Yes No say Pause and GO. The video [URL] told me to make a new form (dialogue) and then in my main form add a public sub.
