VS 2010 Displaying Data In A Datagrid From Sql Query?
Jun 13, 2012
I have a datagrid where i am entering numeric values. at design time, i have set the format for each column to C2. So at run time, When i am entering the values, it is being set in the current format. When i am displaying data from sql, instead of showing 400.00, it is showing only 400.
It appears my connection to the db is correct when I select different options the datagrid displays the correct number of records. So I am not sure why I can not see the data in the grid.[code]....
I am attempting to display a datagrid with the results of two different queries. I want one to display, wait two minutes, display the second query, wait again then start over. I am unable to get either grid to display. If I run either query individually without the wait they display perfectly. How can I do this?
Take text data from a small file and display it in a form using a DataGrid.
I am trying to make the program so it will allow the user to choose which file to open (this part already works). I have stepped through the code and found that the rows are being added to the table, but when the action runs to completion my form has no data on it. Here is my code (forgive any code shortcomings as I have exactly three days as a VB.NET programmer).
I'm having trouble displaying data from a .mdb file in a datagrid. The snippet I'm using is found here at http:[url].... I'm having trouble with the "Customers" part (the input table/query).how to customize this for the database I'm using? My code is:
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1[code]......
I'm having this weird problem with my windows application, I have fields for entering data into an underlying access database, my problem is after clicking the submit button upon entering the first data it shows neatly in the datagrid but subsequent data entered repeats what was initially entered into the datagrid.
Private Sub BtnSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnSubmit.Click 'Sets Null Fields to 0
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim connetionString As String Dim cnn As SqlConnection
[code].....
And I'm trying to display my result from my sql query in the label that I have in my application, but it doesnt seem to work. I get no build errors and the SQL query works on its own.
I have 5 textboxes embedded in a datagrid that require a date format (mm/dd/yy), but can be left empty if user doesn't have date.User can poplute these textboxes for multiple records and hit submit button. On the submit i loop through the grid. If dates are populated AND they are in the correct format then I call a stored procedure that inserts the record into a table. If any of the dates that are populated in the textbox is not a date or in the incorrect format I need to display error message in a label.I got all this to work, but if it throws error message all the data in the grid is wiped out.How can i keep data in each textbox and still display the error message?
I use visual basic 2010 professional edition. I am working on a project on it with access on the backhand. i want to view the data in datagrid control for the stock management. I also want to setup a query in the query builder which will search the database according to the ID but i cant get it right i dont know why. i type in the form filter this: LIKE @ID + '%'. But when i click somewhere else, an error appears which says: Data type error in expression.
I'm new to the world of VB.Net <-> Databases.I'm currently working on an application with SQL Compact 3.5.I realize that data et values on objects from the database but what I want is more custom...Students should have 3 fields for example, tableId, their name and birthYear.1 | John | 20002 | Peter | 1999And so on. What I want is to display their birthday on some label.text = "(" & DBvalue & ")" based on the selection of a listbox (which has tableId's listed as values). You don't have to worry about the update method of that label.text value, I just want a way to retrieve the birthYear value and put it into my label.text together with those extra characters, based on the tableId selected. (which I already have a way to get, so don't worry about that either).
What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database. When I try to save:
I found a sample of how to display data from a table in to a datagrid using VB.
con.Open() Dim reader As SqlDataReader = _ cmd.ExecuteReader() DataGrid1.DataSource = (reader.GetSchemaTable()) reader.Close()
But this just displays the details of the table columns. For example row 1 has details about usrID, row 2 usrTel ect rather than the actual data of the table.
So I will be writing a vb program that will need to connect to and display data from a SQL server in a list/dropdown menu. Eventually this program will be ported into a asp.net web app. For now it will be local.
connected to my Arduino. Using the VB.NET (2010) GUI I request which LED I want on (via buttons) and the I2C device then sends a reply confirming which LED actually turned on (basic feedback). Ok, sounds great right? Here's where I get issues. Well when I try to read the serial data sent to VB and display the real-time stream on the GUI, a) I get a bit of a mess as an output (values are ok, just spewn across GUI) and b) when I select a new LED to turn on, the GUI data does not refresh to this change. The stream being sent from the Arduino is ok, I looked at the data in a serial monitor.
Public Class Form1 Dim ticktock As Integer Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles
I have a datagrid which I have manually added columns to and adding rows at runtime (code I am using below if that helps in anyway). When that row is sellected I wish to get the data from different columns.
I'm adding to the grid:
Dim dgvRow As New DataGridViewRow Dim dgvCell As DataGridViewCell dgvCell = New DataGridViewTextBoxCell()
I like to make a data grid that get data from a .csv and display on the table (note all the data is separated by ",") but I have no idea how to do this.
want to know how can i click the data in my datagrid view and then pass the data to the textbox.. also i want to make my datagrid view not editablemy auto increment field has a 7 data (for example 1-7)now when i delete the no ata the actual data is delete
I finally got this code to work: vb Dim path As String = OpenFileDialog1.FileName Dim myDataset As New DataSet() Dim strConn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.Oledb.12.0;Data Source=" & path & ";Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=1""") Dim myData As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]", strConn) myData.Fill(myDataset) DataGridView1.DataSource = myDataset.Tables(0).DefaultView
Now that I figured that out I was going to try and place the data in a specific location. On my application I have a datagridview set up with 4 columns. What I would like to do is put column A of the excel file under the 1st column of the datagridview and column C of the Excel File in the second column of the datagridview.
Obviously this doesnt work, and something tells me I might need a for loop to import the data, but I have never imported information from an Excel file before and to make it worse I have never worked with datagridviews before so I have no idea how to go about this.
I would like to do something like this if I could: vb For x = 1 To xldoc.rows.length - 1 DataGridView1.Item(0, x).Value = CType(xlDoc.Cells(0, x + 1), Excel.Range).Text Next
I have a SQL stored procedure that I bind to a Silverlight Datagrid. That works ok, the problem is when I use the same stored procedure to bind a different dataset to the same grid, it doesn't display the new data, only empty columns from the last dataset that was bound. What is going on here? I tried to set the grid = Nothing and I tried using Datagrid1.columns.clear() but that didn't work.
I am trying to display an excel spreadsheet on a page using datagrid, but for some reason it is filtering out some of the cells, leaving a blank space instead. Also, the "$" sign won't show up in most of the columns.Could someone please take a look at my site and file, and give a suggestion as to why this would be happening? I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting on it, with no success.
i have a one two many relationship on a form that loads empty so that the user have to do a search in order to populate the data into the form. To acomplish this, i created a filter (query) in the dataset. The filter works fine for the parent data, but how can i load its corresponding child data?
This is the code generated automatically when i created the filter in the DataSet:
VBCode
Try Me.TblConfidencialesTableAdapter.Buscar_Confidencial(Me.ConfidencialesDataSet.tblConfidenciales, TablillaConfidencialToolStripTextBox.Text) Catch ex As System.Exception
Here is the code that I used to import and display the data:
Code: Dim sConnectionString2 As String sConnectionString2 = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" _ & CasePath & ";Extended Properties=""text;HDR=Yes;FMT=Delimited"""
[code]....
The problem is, all of the data gets displayed correctly except for the ip address. It gets truncated to "134.1892". How can I change the formatting for the "Local Address" and "Remote Address" columns.
I've tried a few different methods I could find in order to connect my VB .NET program to a book store's database. While I've been able to connect to it and display the contents of its tables in a DataGrid, I need to be able to search the tables and display specific records, depending on the contents of appropriate the adjacent text boxes.[code]This is a code I've used for a very similar process, just really aims to search a different field in the table. If this is easier to adapt into a code that allows searching and producing specific records in a database, please use this one.
So I have coded connection to database and query but when I push button nothing happens. So my question is how can I fix that Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I have a datagrid displaying details from a sequential text file. I need to have a button to search through this textfile and display only that line of data in my datagrid. I am using an input box to enter the persons name they wish to search for. The datafile contains several lines of info like : John, Murphy, 35, etc.
I am trying to display the contents from a datagrid into a textbox, there are two collums that I want to display. I can get one collum to display by using the following code.
I'm new to visual basic 2010 ultimate. I want to make a search button to "search" ms access 2007 database for specific data and display the results in datagridview. I also want to display the data to textboxes.
I had done this by using the query builder (in VS Studio) but soon found out thay I gain no points by doing it this way as I am not using any code. I have tried to adapt the code I had to insert data into my database, just changing the SQL sintaxa and some other bits, but it is not working yet. Well, it gives results, but I think it is still geting the results from the query I had built using the query builder. Here is the code I've got so far:
Public Class Form2 Private Sub btn_search_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_search.Click Dim str_search As String = txt_search.Text Dim str_dob As String = txt_dob.Text
I have been coding an application for a LeaderBoard for a game. I have all the Login sorted using Mysql and even have all the Account infomation displaying in lables etc. for account info form. Now I am trying to UPDATE information and this is how I was trying to do this...
Dim UpdateInfo As New MySqlDataAdapter Dim mycommand As New MySqlCommand() Dim mydata As MySqlDataReader Dim query = "UPDATE Login SET Pword = '" + UpdateTxtBox.Text + "' WHERE Uname = " + Login.Uname mycommand.Connection = conn mycommand.CommandText = query UpdateInfo.SelectCommand = mycommand mydata = mycommand.ExecuteReader()
But comes back with an Error saying... Unknown column 'username here' in 'where clause'. Now the username is in the database as I have just logged in with it and I am taking it I have the Query wrong somewhere.
