VS 2010 Displaying Data Manually?

I'm new to the world of VB.Net <-> Databases.I'm currently working on an application with SQL Compact 3.5.I realize that data et values on objects from the database but what I want is more custom...Students should have 3 fields for example, tableId, their name and birthYear.1 | John | 20002 | Peter | 1999And so on. What I want is to display their birthday on some label.text = "(" & DBvalue & ")" based on the selection of a listbox (which has tableId's listed as values). You don't have to worry about the update method of that label.text value, I just want a way to retrieve the birthYear value and put it into my label.text together with those extra characters, based on the tableId selected. (which I already have a way to get, so don't worry about that either).

I found a sample of how to display data from a table in to a datagrid using VB.
con.Open()
Dim reader As SqlDataReader = _
cmd.ExecuteReader()
DataGrid1.DataSource = (reader.GetSchemaTable())
reader.Close()
But this just displays the details of the table columns. For example row 1 has details about usrID, row 2 usrTel ect rather than the actual data of the table.

So I will be writing a vb program that will need to connect to and display data from a SQL server in a list/dropdown menu. Eventually this program will be ported into a asp.net web app. For now it will be local.

I have a datagrid where i am entering numeric values. at design time, i have set the format for each column to C2. So at run time, When i am entering the values, it is being set in the current format. When i am displaying data from sql, instead of showing 400.00, it is showing only 400.

connected to my Arduino. Using the VB.NET (2010) GUI I request which LED I want on (via buttons) and the I2C device then sends a reply confirming which LED actually turned on (basic feedback). Ok, sounds great right? Here's where I get issues. Well when I try to read the serial data sent to VB and display the real-time stream on the GUI, a) I get a bit of a mess as an output (values are ok, just spewn across GUI) and b) when I select a new LED to turn on, the GUI data does not refresh to this change. The stream being sent from the Arduino is ok, I looked at the data in a serial monitor.

What i am doing is trying to manually increment a data column with a range of my choice. Say i have a range from 1 - 10. Now with my update query i want to update a column with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 UPDATE TABLE SET Type = [min_range] to [max_range] WHERE Po = 'A' AND Loc = 'F'; WHERE Po = 'A' AND Loc = 'F' will return 10 records but i want type to be 1 - 10 for those records couple of days trying to get this work and i am using VB 2008 .NET.

We have exactly 120 employees entered in "EmpMaster" table, "EmpId" number field set for 'Auto number' start from 1-121. Now my problem is HR Department instructed me to continue EmpId number start from 1121 for new employees. So I want to continue new records in the same Table.I'm using the code to INSERT record is : EmpMasterTableAdaptor.InsertQry on windows form. Operating - Visual Studio 2010Prof and SQL Server 2008 for database.

I have used My.Settings for quite some time now, in both VS2005 and now in 2008, but never noticed this behaviour yet... I must be forgetting something trivial? I create a StringCollection setting and manually enter some data (strings).I write some code to handle this, and I get it to work.
Then, I manually add some new strings (and edit the older ones) in the Settings page, save the project, and run my code again.For some reason, the last changes have not been saved... Whenever I look in the settings page, I see them there, but my code cannot recognize them..

How do I change the number of gridlines a chart displays? My chart data runs from 00:00 to 23:59 but due to the auto scaling I get gridlines and labels at funny time e.g 05:37 or 10:23. What I'd like is a label and line every hour but I can't find which property sets it!

Is it possible to manually save data from my dataGridView to my SQL server database table?
if it is possible can some please tell me how to do it because i don't like using the data sets and reader VB has because it doesn't give me full control over the procedure.

I am not stuck with the code side but rather what seems an issue when using VB and creating well verifying an Twitter Account. I have tried to explain as best as possible but please ask if you need more info
I am currently well on the way to finishing my Twitter Account Creator which also verifies and completes the profile fields but I have encountered a problem and for once not a problem relating to the code side of things at least I don't think it is.
At the moment for testing reasons I have 2 buttons one which creates the account and a second which verifies the account now I am using incognitomail.com (temp email provider) and have 2 web browsers running within my VB program. 1 is for Twitter and 1 is for Incognitomail.com I have no problems clicking and navigating to the verify link and then logging in to verify the Twitter Account but it never verifies and I cannot figure out why.
Say I put another text box and used it to navigate to url's on web browser 1 (twitter) and copied the verify link and put it in the text box it navigates I login and its the fine the account is verified but if I set VB to navigate (can't click because it opens in IE and not within the VB web browser) to the verify link it never verifies I have even tried making the text box fill and then navigate via that just as if a human was doing it but still no luck.
Does anyone have any idea as to why these Twitter Accounts are not verifying when the VB program performs the navigating to the verify link then login but if I do it myself i.e copy the verify link put it in the text box which navigates the web browser then it verifies fine?This is the one step standing in the way from my program being about to create and verify accounts and will not cost a fortune as this was a personal project to counter the lack of Twitter Creators which both work fully and are cheap.

I want it so every time I click an ITEM in the Listbox it displays ALL the data into the textbox. I know there's an easy way using table adapters and binding the listbox, but I'd prefer to do it this way for my project.
So this is what I got.
Lst.DataSource = ds
Lst.DisplayMember = "tblStudent.FirstName"
Lst.ValueMember = "tblStudent.StudentID"

It only adds the first rows details to the text box when I click the second record the first rows details are still there.

I would like to know if there's anything that can display data differently than what's stored in the DB.Here's my example. I have a column called Active and in the DB table, 0 represents Active, -1 represents InActive.In my report, when showing whether or not a listing is Active, I'd rather have the words Active and Inactive rather than 0 and -1.

What I am trying to accomplish is this: I have a login page were a student logs in. After the login the student will be taken to a student user page. This page has 2 list boxes. The first is showing the exams that he has passed and the other shows the exams he has yet to complete or fail. I can not get any data to display in my list box. If I can figure the first one out I can do the second one easily but I can not get the first one to work. Here is my code that I have so far:

I am attempting to display a datagrid with the results of two different queries. I want one to display, wait two minutes,display the second query, wait again then start over. I am unable to get either grid to display. If I run either query individually without the wait they display perfectly. How can I do this?
