I'd like to know if it's possible to, for example, place a small 32x32 icon on the left hand side of a Button control and offset the text to the right to make room for it. I know it's got to be possible, I'm wondering how easily done it would be though. Would I have to derive a custom control and then handle the drawing myself?

Ive tried using TxtTotal = Val(txt1) + Val(txt2)... in the Total1_TextChanged but nothing happens. Someone once said I should use databinding but I cant see how that would work when Im using user input as the data to be Totaled. Also I dont know a whole lot about vb as I am just learning, and databinding
ps the values Im adding are in currency format. So I guess i would need to convert them back to add them, but im not sure.

The user will be selecting a file to be read into the program. At the top of the form is a button that says "View Hourly Data File". This button is to be a link to open the data file in a text viewer. However, I would like the button to be deactivated (grayed out) until the user selects the file. Once the file is selected, it will then be an active button.
The Second:Once the user selects the file, and the button is activated, I want the user to be able to open and view-only the text file that they have loaded. It should be opening into a pop-up window.

I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?

The problem is, in order for the submit button to activate, you have to atleast type in 1 letter for it to update and make it send. The problem is when I do document.getElementById("p1").innerHTML= "SSSS" it works but it wont update the submit button to allow me to submit the form. What should I do?

I've looked for codes online to give me a better understanding but have had no luck so far. What I would like to do is to be able to "randomize" a line of characters with only capital letters and numbers 0-9. I need the overall length to be 14, but realistically 17. The displayed characters would be in this form. XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX, so the dashes would have to fall into that area with all other characters being random. I want it to link from the 1 buton to the 1 textbox.

I am building a vb.net application with VS2010. The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]

I have a groupbox with 4 radio buttons inside that are intended to change the font color of the text. Coincidentally, I have to repeat this same functionality for a 2nd set of radio buttons that would change the text font family.
At any rate what I've only been able to do is the following to successfully change the font color of whatever text I highlight in the rich text box:

Is there a way that I could write a sub (I'm assuming I would use a sub, since I don't think I need to return anything, thus eliminating the use of a function) that would handle the action of changing the selected text color in the rich text box without having to use a separate sub for each radio button? View 3 RepliesI'm Making a Simple syntax highlighter and I'm Doing the highlighting in the text Changed event of a RTB and for obvious reasons I can't re highlight the whole document each time someone presses a key so i highlight one line each time the text changes. But this creates a Problem. If someone pastes code into the RichTextBox It only highlights the last Line. So is there a way to get if the user typed the text in with his keyboard or pasted it from the clipboard in the text Changed event?
