VS 2010 Vs2010 Incorrectly Creating Control Event Code?

i recently received a new work pc and have installed visual studio 2010 premium on it. this was installed on my old machine as well, the only differece between the two PCs being my old one was 32bit and the new one is 64bit.With that said, when i create a windows form project and drop a control on a form, double click that control, the default event code is created for me.It is missing the "ByVal" portion of the code. Using a textbox as an example, below is the code it generates. Is there a setting that I'm just missing and need to turn on? I've been using visual studio since version 2005 and i've never seen this before.

I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?

I am trying to write a program using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition that will automaticlay generate multiple Command Buttons that have different Texts and perform different commands.For example I want to generate Button_1 and Button_2 where Button_1 when clicked enters the value "1" into a textbox and Button_2 enters the value "2" into the same textbox.I know this can be simple done by using the designer and wirting the code in the Button_1_Click, but what I want to eventually achieve is for various buttons to be generated across different Tabs in a TabControl.So far I can create a button on a windows form using code, but the button has no purpose so command is assigned to it. I am trying to make a new label be created everytime the user clicks a button. But at the moment when the user presses the button It only creates one, if the users clicks the button again. Nothing happens.

I know that the label is not being created on top of each other because the location values changes everytime the user clicks the button.

I have 2 buttons, named: 'Select item 1' and 'Select item2' to these buttons I have added images. how? when the form loads I execute this

when I test the program on my friend's pc it gives an error and does not display the image. ( and yes I already tried putting the executable in exactly the same folder as it is on my pc WITH the image folder.. )
so is there any way to use the first method of loading the images and ensuring the size is correctly? Ive added 2 screenshots to show you what I mean by incorrect size..

I have an application that tests various hardware components for notebooks. One of those components is the keyboard.I have a form that displays a keyboard. In that form's KeyPreview event, I get which key is pressed. If it's the correct key, I disable the visual UI cue and move on to the next key.I'm converting the bulk of the code into a library so that it can be used in other projects more easily. But I'm having a hard time grasping how I would create this event in my library and still allow the same functionality.

I am currently working on a way to create a keystroke logger program of sorts, to be used in a hospital neonatal intensive care unit. It will be used in a project to look for ways to identify problems shortly after birth in newborn infants. (I was approached to create this program as I am the only one here with any programming experience, and I kinda put my foot in my mouth and said yes! D'oh!) While I have dabbled with C programming about 15 years ago (in DOS) and have some current familiarity with Excel-based VBA scripting, I have absolutely no experience with coding from scratch in Visual Basic (I'm a neurobiologist, not a programmer).

I have a lot of ListView control on a form and I'd like them to have the same Click event . The problem is that I would like that be done by code . The reason is not only that they are many so it would take time to select them all one-by-one , but also in the future I might add more or even change the name of some of them . So , is there any way that we specify (by code) an event to be the Click event for all of the ListView controls , no matter how many they get to be and no matter what their names are ? The editor I am using is VS2008 , not VS2005 that I specified in the topic's name .

I have a bit of a problem creating a user control at the moment. I'm creating it within my current project via the 'Project> Add User Control' menu item. I need to dynamically create some sort of 'table' on my form. It should look like:
PIC1 INTEGER1 TIME1
PIC2 INTEGER2 TIME2
PIC3 INTEGER3 TIME3
On top of that it should look like a table and have gridlines between the 'cells' containing the picture/data, which makes it even more difficult for me. Before, control arrays were quite simple in VB6, but I've been searching for 1,5 hours now and I can't figure out how to do this in VB.NET 2010. Any idea how to tackle this the most efficiently?

I figured it out. Check out the finished control [URL]..I'm trying to make myself a simple 'star rating' control.
It would have the properties:
StarCount (number of stars)
StarValue (number of stars highlighted)
I want to draw the stars using GDI+, have them highlight on mouse over, and change the StarValue when clicked.I have an idea on how to do this from experience with working with forms, but I'm having some difficulties with the Control development part. I couldn't find any tutorials which didn't inherit a control (such as a checkbox or button), and I have no idea how to make my control editable in the designer.
I think what I need to do is create StarCount as a property like this:

I also want to execute my drawing code at design time, so I can see the stars while laying out a form. as a side note to that, I don't know how to change the size of the control at run or design time, nor how to disable the user from changing it at design time.as a side note - I know that there are a few star rate controls already floating around the internet, but I do not like the quality of them (or at least the one's I've seen), they felt very windows 98. I'm trying to make something that will fit well into windows 7 (plus I want to implement custom images, but that can wait until I get it working)

At design-time, when one clicks a control it is selected and this state is depicted with a frame drawn around the control. I would like to know how can I mimic the same effect at runtime; that is, how can I draw a similar frame around a control when the user clicks over it?

I was asked to create an application that has a custom control that acts as a button. I managed to do almost all the requirements except the one for the KeyPress event. The customer wants to click the "Alt + C (for example)" to trigger the button click event in this case for a Cancel button. I did the code and it works fine ONLY when that custom control has the focus on it. But when it loses it, it doesn't. I don't know how to make the form accepts that KeyPress and sends to the custom control. I tried to set the form's KeyPreview property of the form to Ture but it didn't work too.
By the way, I know that it would work by writing the code in the KeyPress of the form but that's not the requirement because the user control will be used as a standalone component for many projects.

If I have a panel with a handful of controls in it, and I want to create a click event for anytime that the user clicks on any controls that are NOT inside that particular panel, how would I do it? In other words, if there was an event called "ClickSomethingElse", that would be perfect. Any way to accomplish something like this? I realize that I could create individual click events for each of the controls outside of the panel, but there are a LOT of controls outside of the panel, so I was just wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this.

I am playing around with Drag and Drop, and I am having an issue with AddHandler. I am creating labels and displaying them on a form. Before I add each label to the form, I add 2 event handlers (DragEnter and DragLeave). When I run the code, it hits the first event handler (DragEnter), but doesn't hit the second event handler (DragLeave). Either I have coded something wrong, or the second handler is not being added.

I have a project which has a couple of tabs on form, an usercontrol is on the 2nd tab, when the form loads, i want the load event method of the usercontrol to fire, and the message box should pop up.Please see the attach file, the message box only pop up after the form is loaded and the 2nd tab is clicked, not when just the parent form is loaded.

This may be a strange question and have no answer but I thought I would post it to see how you would go about doing it. I have a line of code:
Grade = Math.Round((Math.Abs(CorrectAnswers) / TotalQuestions) * 100)
Basically that line just figures out the grade no major code work there, what I want to do is execute that specific line with different variables without running the whole application and navigating to the point in the application which for this segment would be completing a 150 question exam, or coding some #temp page and running it from there.

I tried to make a menu for my game, but when I placed the code into the form loading event, it wouldn't show. Then I placed a button and moved the code into the button click event and it worked. Thus, I know the code shouldn't be wrong. How can you make the graphics( as in lines, rectangle,etc) show up when it starts up?
